Before installing a Samsung dryer, confirm whether it is electric or gas, check the outlet and vent route, and read the installation guide for the exact model. US electric and gas dryers have different power requirements; only steam models need a water connection. Use a rigid metal exhaust duct, level the appliance, and complete the model’s final checks before drying laundry.
Prepare the space and the right connections
Start with the user manual and installation guide for your exact model. Samsung’s general instructions are US-specific, and the manual is the authority for clearances, wiring diagrams, vent limits, stacking compatibility, and model-specific test steps. Measure the space and check the outlet, fuel supply, exhaust route, and door swing before moving the dryer.

Common tools listed by Samsung include pliers, a box cutter, flathead and Phillips screwdrivers, a level, hose clamps or duct tape, and a wrench. Gas work may require a pipe wrench; a steam model may need additional hose components. The supplied parts and required tools vary, so check the contents for your model before buying accessories.

Samsung specifies a 4-inch rigid aluminum or galvanized steel duct and advises against flexible plastic duct. Keep the duct clean and make sure it is not kinked, crushed, or poorly fitted. Secure the joints as directed in the manual, and follow local rules and the model’s instructions for routing.

There is no single maximum duct length that applies to every Samsung dryer: the permitted length depends on the model and vent configuration. Samsung’s troubleshooting guidance says each 90-degree turn reduces the maximum allowed length by 6 feet, but directs owners to the applicable manual for the actual limit. If the route is new or uncertain, Samsung recommends using a professional installer.
Remove packaging from the exhaust outlet before connecting the duct. If you use a pedestal, Samsung says it is easiest to install before the dryer is finally positioned. On models that support it, run the vent blockage test as directed by the manual.

Connect power according to fuel type
Samsung’s published electrical figures below apply to US models. Confirm your exact dryer and outlet before selecting or wiring a cord; follow the model’s diagram rather than guessing from the building’s age or adapting a cord yourself.

Samsung recommends professional help to connect or convert a gas line. A gas dryer intended for LP requires conversion by a qualified service technician. Do not attempt gas-line work beyond your training.

Connect water only if the dryer has steam features
A steam dryer connects to a cold-water tap using a Y-connector and hose arrangement. First check the model’s instructions and included parts so you do not buy components that are already supplied or incompatible.
- Shut off the cold-water tap before attaching the connector and hoses.
- Fit the Y-connector and hose arrangement according to the model instructions. Hand-tighten the couplings, then make only the additional tightening specified there; overtightening can damage connections.
- Reopen the tap and inspect every connection for leaks.
Level the dryer and verify the installation
Check the appliance with a level both side-to-side and front-to-back. Adjust the feet until it stands firmly on the floor. Before using it, confirm the power is properly grounded, the exhaust duct is connected with metal material and secured joints, and the dryer is stable.

Samsung suggests running Time Dry for 30 seconds as a basic operation check: verify that the dryer starts, runs, heats, and shuts off. For models with a vent blockage test, perform it using the procedure in the manual. On a gas model, the burner may take time to ignite while air clears from the line; confirm the gas supply is properly connected and on, but leave gas work to a qualified professional.
If the dryer runs but does not heat
Check the installation before assuming a component has failed. Samsung lists insufficient voltage as a possible cause for an electric dryer that tumbles without heating. Check that the power cord was installed according to the model’s diagram; one of the two electric dryer circuits can trip independently. For a gas model, confirm the gas connection is properly installed and the supply is turned on. Also check that the exhaust meets the dryer’s requirements.

If the model has a vent test, use the manual or on-screen procedure. The button combination and displayed codes vary by model. Samsung recommends cleaning the exhaust vent once or twice each year. A blocked vent can impede heat and moisture removal, and the dryer may reduce heat in response. If the vent test passes and the dryer still will not heat, Samsung directs owners to its support center for service.
