You can keep a prerecorded playlist streaming to YouTube Live from a Windows VPS by creating a broadcast in YouTube Studio, running an encoder on the VPS that loops your media, and sending the encoder’s feed to YouTube with the broadcast’s stream URL and key. The VPS must sustain the selected video bitrate and outbound traffic continuously; YouTube’s recommended encoder settings are the right starting point, not a guarantee that a particular VPS plan will work.
What you need before you start
- A YouTube channel with live streaming enabled. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
- A Windows VPS with a location in India if an India-based server is important to you. Confirm the provider offers that region for the Windows plan you intend to use.
- Media files you have the rights to stream, plus an encoder configured to read and loop them.
- A way to verify sustained outbound capacity and any traffic or transfer limits on the VPS plan.
No particular Windows VPS size, provider, price, or India-region performance guarantee is established here. Choose a plan only after checking its current terms and confirming that it can sustain your encoder’s output continuously.

Set up the YouTube broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go Live.
- Use the Stream tab to create a broadcast, or open Manage to schedule one.
- Copy the broadcast’s server or stream URL and stream key into a secure place. Enter them in your encoder exactly as supplied. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to that broadcast.
YouTube documents this connection flow but does not prescribe a specific Windows encoder, FFmpeg command, Windows service, or watchdog setup. Those implementation details depend on the encoder and how you choose to operate the VPS.

On the Windows VPS, configure an encoder to read your media files in playlist order and repeat the list when it reaches the end. Add YouTube’s stream URL and key as the destination. The encoder must keep running for the feed to continue; a VPS does not itself create a playlist or broadcast.

Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings and bitrate recommendations as the baseline. YouTube lists RTMP and RTMPS ingestion and recommends RTMPS, which encrypts data to and through Google’s servers. Its listed video codecs include H.264, HEVC/H.265, and AV1; available choices depend on the encoder you use. For the common H.264 setup, select constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval. YouTube says the interval should not exceed four seconds. It lists AAC or MP3 for audio and supports frame rates up to 60 fps.
Choose resolution and bitrate together
These are selected H.264 recommendations from YouTube’s settings table, not minimum VPS speeds or guarantees of quality. Match the row to your output resolution and frame rate.

Use the recommendations for the codec and frame rate you actually select; YouTube’s table also has separate recommendations and minimums for HEVC and AV1. The video bitrate is not the entire network requirement: audio and protocol overhead add traffic. Check that the VPS can sustain the chosen output with headroom, and verify that its plan permits the resulting continuous outbound use. YouTube says, “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.”
Test the feed and start streaming
- Start the encoder with a representative section of the playlist before relying on the stream. Check that the intended resolution, frame rate, audio, and looping behavior are correct.
- Open the broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Wait for the preview and review the stream-health information; YouTube recommends testing and monitoring health.
- For a scheduled broadcast, click Go live in the Live Control Room after the preview appears. Starting the encoder sends the feed, but a scheduled stream still requires this confirmation.
- Keep an eye on the encoder and YouTube’s stream health after launch. For an unattended stream, decide how you will notice a stopped encoder, a network interruption, or a YouTube ingest problem; the official setup instructions do not specify a Windows watchdog or automatic recovery design.
Plan for India-region networking and long broadcasts
The National Informatics Centre’s webcast services guidance mentions dedicated bandwidth of 2–4 Mbps per stream and checking outbound access for RTMP port 1935 in its own government webcast context. Those figures are not YouTube requirements, a Windows VPS sizing rule, or a guarantee about what a hosting provider permits. For your chosen VPS, confirm its India-region availability, sustained outbound capacity, port and firewall behavior, and traffic policy directly with the provider; then compare capacity with your encoder’s selected bitrate.

Do not assume a single uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be archived as one complete video. YouTube’s encoder help says, “All streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived.” That statement supports automatic archiving for streams shorter than 12 hours; it does not promise an archive for a 24-hour stream. If you need a complete recording, plan and verify recording or archiving separately rather than relying on an assumed platform workaround.

Troubleshoot common problems
