Set up your HP OmniBook by checking its exact model, connecting the correct power adapter, completing Windows’ first-run prompts, and installing available updates. OmniBook models differ, so use the guide and support page for your specific product whenever a step depends on the hardware.
Before you turn on the OmniBook
Check the box and identify your model
Confirm that the laptop, supplied power adapter and cable are present. Keep the quick-start and safety information nearby. Do not assume another OmniBook’s connector, ports or included accessories match yours. HP provides model-specific guides and support materials; start with the page for your exact product: HP Support.

Place the laptop on a stable surface near a power outlet, with its ventilation openings clear. A stand is optional, not a setup requirement. If you use one, check that it fits the chassis and screen size, does not block intake or exhaust vents, and is stable and adjustable enough for your desk.

Power on and complete Windows setup
Connect power and start the laptop
Follow the included guide for your model’s power connection, then press the power button and wait for Windows setup. HP’s instructions do not establish one power-connection method for every OmniBook, so rely on the model-specific guide rather than assuming all versions use the same connector.
Work through the first-run prompts
HP Support’s Windows 11 first-time setup walkthrough describes a flow that includes connecting to a network, choosing how the device will be used, configuring sign-in, optional customization and updates. Windows prompts can differ by edition, region, account state and software version, so the options on your screen may not exactly match a walkthrough.

- Choose your region and keyboard settings when prompted.
- Connect to a trusted Wi-Fi network or, if supported and available, use Ethernet. Follow the on-screen steps if Windows requires a connection to continue.
- Answer the device-use and sign-in prompts as they appear. Review optional customization choices before accepting them.
- Let Windows finish setup and apply any requested restart before using the laptop for work.
Install updates and allow first-use activity to settle
Install the updates Windows offers and restart when requested. HP describes Windows Update as the route for Windows version updates; update timing or availability on a work-managed computer may be controlled by your organization. See HP’s Windows Update guidance for additional detail.

Optional desk accessories
A stand may raise the display and improve airflow, but it is optional. Before choosing an adjustable laptop stand, check compatibility with your OmniBook’s size and chassis, clear space around the vents, stability, height and angle adjustment, and portability for your desk. External monitors, keyboards and mice are also optional peripherals, not prerequisites for first setup.
