What the G29 supports
The G29 Driving Force is a wired steering wheel with a three-pedal set. Logitech lists support for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Windows 10/11 and Mac OS X 10.10 or later. That platform list does not mean every game on those systems accepts the wheel. A game must implement Logitech wheel input and, where applicable, force feedback.

The wheel has a maximum 900-degree rotation range. Its supplied adapter is rated at 24 V and 1.75 A, the USB lead is 1.8 m (6 ft), and the pedal unit provides throttle, brake and clutch pedals. It is a wired USB device, not a Bluetooth wheel.

A small switch on the wheel base determines how the console or computer identifies the device. Set it while the wheel is disconnected from USB, then connect the cables. The practical rule is:

- PS4 mode: Windows PC and PlayStation 4. Logitech’s platform instructions use this setting for PC.
- PS3 mode: PlayStation 3. In supported PS3 games the wheel appears as a Driving Force GT, with the clutch, RPM LEDs and optional Driving Force Shifter unavailable.
- PS5: Logitech lists the G29 as supported, but its mode guidance names PS4 rather than a separate PS5 position. Use the setting required by the specific PS5 game and verify that the title supports the G29 before troubleshooting the hardware.
If the wrong mode is selected, the wheel can receive power yet fail to appear in a game. Correcting the switch and reconnecting USB is the first fix, not a software reinstall.
Mount the wheel and connect the hardware
Use a stable table or rig
The base has an integrated table clamp. Open the clamp, position the wheel on a solid edge and tighten it until the base cannot move during steering. Logitech also provides screw mounting points for a racing stand or cockpit. A stand is optional; confirm its hole pattern and load rating before buying one. A flexible desk, glass edge or thin folding table can allow movement and make force feedback feel inconsistent.
Connect the pedals
Plug the pedal set’s connector into the pedal socket on the wheel base. The connector is keyed, so do not force it at an angle. Place the pedals where your chair cannot push them away when you brake. The clutch is available on PC, PS4 and supported PS5 games; it is disabled when the wheel is in PS3 mode.

Connect power and USB
- Insert the supplied 24 V, 1.75 A power adapter into the wheel base.
- Plug the adapter directly into a wall outlet. Avoid a loose extension lead or switched strip while diagnosing a power problem.
- Connect the wheel’s USB cable directly to the target PC or console. For initial setup, do not use a USB hub.
- Set the platform switch to PS4 for Windows or PS4, or PS3 for PS3, before making the USB connection.
The wheel may turn or center itself when power is applied. Keep fingers clear of the spokes and do not obstruct the rotation during that startup movement.
Set up the G29 on a Windows PC
1. Install the appropriate Logitech software
Use Logitech’s current G29 downloads page and select the Windows version offered for your PC. Logitech’s platform setup guidance says LGS 8.70 or later is required for full functionality, while the technical specifications also list G HUB as supported software. Because LGS 8.70 is an older version reference, do not treat it as the current installer by default; follow the download page’s present recommendation.
2. Connect in PS4 mode
With the software ready, set the base switch to PS4. Connect the pedals, power adapter and USB cable as described above. Windows should enumerate the wheel as a USB game controller. If the software offers a device page, confirm that the wheel is shown and allow any requested firmware update to finish without unplugging power.

3. Configure the game, not just the driver
Start a title that explicitly supports Logitech force-feedback wheels. Open its controls or input menu, select the G29 or steering-wheel profile, and assign steering, throttle, brake, clutch, shift buttons and any handbrake function the game exposes. Set steering range and force-feedback strength in the game’s own menu; those values are often independent of the Logitech utility.

Treat it as a title list rather than a promise that every current game works. A game can accept a generic controller while lacking wheel calibration or force feedback, so test those functions separately.
4. Calibrate and check the controls
- Turn the wheel slowly from lock to lock and confirm that the on-screen steering follows smoothly.
- Press each pedal individually; make sure the resting value returns to zero and that full travel reaches the game’s maximum.
- Check that the wheel returns to center without scraping or cable tension.
- Drive a short practice session before changing force-feedback strength. Excessive strength can make a loose mount move and can hide an input-mapping error.
Set up the G29 on PlayStation
PlayStation 4
- Mount the wheel and connect the pedals and power adapter.
- Set the mode switch to PS4.
- Connect the USB cable directly to the PS4, without a hub.
- Start a game that lists G29 or Logitech wheel support.
- Open the game’s wheel or controller settings and assign steering, pedals, buttons and force feedback as required.
Some games detect the wheel only when it is connected before the game starts. If the title does not show wheel controls, close the game, reconnect the wheel in PS4 mode and launch the title again.

PlayStation 5
Logitech lists the G29 for PS5, but compatibility is still title-specific. There is no separate PS5 position described in Logitech’s mode instructions; those instructions identify PS4 mode for PS4 and PC. Set the mode requested by the game or its support documentation, connect directly to the console and then configure the wheel inside the title. A PS5 system recognizing the USB device does not guarantee that a particular PS5 game has implemented G29 input or force feedback.
PlayStation 3
- Connect the pedals and power adapter to the base.
- Move the switch to PS3 before connecting USB.
- Connect USB directly to the PS3.
- Launch a game that supports the Driving Force GT or G29 control profile.
In PS3 mode, supported games identify the G29 as a Driving Force GT. The clutch pedal, RPM indicator lights and optional Driving Force Shifter do not function. This is a mode limitation, not a defective pedal or shifter.

Use the G29 on a Mac
Logitech lists Mac OS X 10.10 or later in the G29 specifications and includes Mac titles in its compatibility list. Logitech also states that G HUB on Mac is used only to update firmware. That means a Mac owner should not plan on the full Windows workflow of creating profiles, changing every device setting or relying on G HUB to make an unsupported game work.

Mac setup sequence
- Check the game’s current Mac system requirements and wheel-support documentation before connecting the hardware.
- Mount the wheel, connect the pedals and power adapter, and set the mode switch as required by the game. If the title follows Logitech’s PC/PS4 mode guidance, start with PS4 mode.
- Connect USB directly to the Mac. Use an appropriate adapter if the Mac has no matching USB-A port, and avoid a hub while testing.
- Use the current Logitech Mac download only for firmware updates when Logitech identifies it as necessary. Do not expect G HUB on Mac to provide Windows-equivalent game profiles.
- Open the game’s controller settings and map the wheel and pedals manually if the title supports them.
Mac support should therefore be evaluated per game and per macOS release. The listed OS floor of 10.10 is a specification, not proof that every current macOS version or every modern Mac game supports the device.
When the G29 is not detected or has no power
Follow the checks in order. Change one variable at a time so you can tell whether the fault is power, USB, mode selection or game compatibility.
No lights, movement or response
- Unplug and reconnect the power adapter at both ends.
- Plug it directly into a known-good wall outlet.
- Inspect the adapter, base socket and cable for cuts, bent contacts or a loose fit.
- Confirm that the wheel completes its startup movement. Keep the wheel unobstructed while it initializes.
If there is still no sign of power, test the adapter and wheel on another supported device only if you can do so safely; persistent failure points to hardware or power rather than a game setting.

Power is present but the console or PC does not see it
- Disconnect USB and set the correct mode before reconnecting it: PS4 for PC/PS4, PS3 for PS3.
- Move the USB plug to another console port or another PC port. Connect directly and remove the hub.
- Inspect the USB lead for damage and ensure it is fully seated in the wheel base.
- Restart the console or PC after reconnecting the wheel.
- On PC, install or repair Logitech’s current software for your Windows version and check whether Windows lists the wheel as a game controller.
The device is detected but the game has no wheel controls
- Confirm that the specific game supports the G29 on that platform.
- Check the game’s input menu for a wheel, steering-wheel or Driving Force GT profile rather than a generic gamepad profile.
- Close and relaunch the game with the wheel already connected.
- Install available system and game updates.
- Test a second supported game. If the second title works, the original game’s support or settings are the likely cause; if neither title works, continue checking the connection, mode and software.
Pedals, shifter or force feedback are missing
- Re-seat the pedal connector at the wheel base and verify each pedal in the game’s calibration screen.
- Remember that the clutch and optional Driving Force Shifter are intentionally unavailable in PS3 mode, as are the RPM indicator lights.
- Check that force feedback is enabled in the game and reduce its strength if the mount shifts or the wheel cannot center smoothly.
- On Mac, do not assume a missing G HUB control means the hardware is broken; Logitech limits Mac G HUB to firmware updates, and the game must provide the usable settings.

The optional Logitech Driving Force Shifter is relevant if you want an H-pattern shifter. It follows the same PS3 restriction: it does not function while the G29 is in PS3 mode. For a desk setup, the integrated clamp is usually sufficient; for a permanent rig, use the screw points and verify the stand’s compatibility before purchase.
