For movies, start with Filmmaker Mode if your Hisense E7 offers it; otherwise choose the Cinema or Theater mode that looks comfortable in your room. Then check picture settings again while playing the type of content you watch—SDR, HDR, or Dolby Vision—because those signals can use separate picture-mode families. Exact options vary by model and region, so confirm your TV’s full model number before following menu names or changing advanced controls.
First, confirm which E7 you have
“E7 Cinema Series” alone does not identify a confirmed model number in the available official documentation. Hisense’s US page covers the 65E7SF, while its Romanian page covers an E7S; neither establishes that every E7 Cinema Series television shares the same features or menus. Find the complete model number on the rear label or under Settings > About, then consult the manual for that model and sales region. Menu wording and picture options can also depend on software and the signal being played.

For context, Hisense lists Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10, and HLG support on its US 65E7SF product page. Those are specifications for that named US model, not a guarantee for every E7. The Romanian E7S page promotes Filmmaker Mode and an AI Light Sensor; availability on your TV should be checked against its own model details.

Choose a movie picture mode
- Open Settings and look for Display & Sound > Picture. Depending on the TV, a General submenu or different labels may appear.
- Select Filmmaker Mode if it is available. It is a practical movie starting point, not a guarantee that every E7 has the mode.
- If Filmmaker Mode is absent, try the available Cinema or Theater mode. Some Hisense manuals describe Theater Day and Theater Night as options for different ambient-brightness conditions; do not assume those exact labels appear on your set.
Use the mode that makes the film look natural and comfortable in your room. A brighter room may call for a different available movie-mode variant than a dark room; there is no verified universal numerical setting for the E7 Cinema Series model identified by the title.

Set picture options while each format is playing
Start the movie or show from the source you actually use, then reopen the Picture menu. An SDR picture-mode choice may not determine how HDR or Dolby Vision looks. Hisense’s cited manuals explain that an HDR signal uses an HDR picture-mode family and a Dolby Vision signal uses a Dolby Vision picture-mode family. Make and assess adjustments with the relevant format active.
Hisense’s 9603GTV e-manual puts it plainly: “When you use a HDR signal, the picture mode is HDR picture mode.” The same manual says Dolby Vision signals use a Dolby Vision picture mode. So if the image changes when HDR or Dolby Vision content starts, check the active mode rather than assuming the TV has ignored your SDR choice.

Choose where picture adjustments apply
If the menu offers Apply Picture Settings, choose whether the current adjustments should apply to all sources or only the current source. The all-sources option can carry settings across inputs and apps; a per-source choice can help avoid unexpected differences between a streaming app and an external device. This is a practical way to manage sources, not a manufacturer requirement.
Be cautious with advanced calibration controls
Hisense manuals document controls such as Color Tuner, White Balance, and Gamma Calibration, but the available sources do not establish validated numerical values for the exact E7 Cinema Series model. Leave them at their defaults unless you are making measured adjustments for your specific television. Settings copied from another Hisense model may not produce accurate results on yours.

Decide whether to use the ambient light sensor
If your TV has an ambient light sensor, compare the picture with its automatic adjustment enabled and disabled while watching in your usual room lighting. Hisense’s Romanian E7S product page says its AI Light Sensor adjusts backlight according to ambient light, but that regional product claim does not confirm the feature on every E7. Choose the behavior that remains comfortable as your room changes, rather than treating the sensor as a universal picture-quality improvement.
