A YouTube playlist page by itself does not create a livestream. You can run the playout on a computer, use dedicated encoder hardware, or use a cloud service if you need playback to continue while your computer is off.
Before choosing tracks, confirm your channel can livestream and that you have permission to broadcast each recording. Then configure, test, and monitor the stream; continuous playback and YouTube’s archive behavior are separate concerns.

1. Check that your channel can go live
Do this before preparing a broadcast. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions within the previous 90 days. Enabling live streaming for the first time can take up to 24 hours. Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
2. Confirm rights to every bhajan recording
A devotional or traditional composition is not automatically free to use: the specific performance and recording may have separate rights. Use audio and video that you are authorized to broadcast. Giving credit, adding a disclaimer, using the music for a religious purpose, or finding a track already uploaded publicly does not establish permission.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder and trigger a warning; continued use can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. Even licensed third-party content can be interrupted unless the rights holder adds your channel to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” Read its guidance for music channels going live and YouTube’s live-streaming copyright guidance. A “copyright free” label on a track is not a substitute for checking the actual license and any required allowlisting.
3. Choose where the playlist will play
You need a playout source that repeats the selected tracks or videos and an encoder that sends the resulting live signal to YouTube. YouTube describes encoder software and standalone hardware in its encoder directory; check that the particular option supports your media format, playlist looping, and the unattended operation you need.

|---|---|---|
| Streaming software | Your computer | Looping, audio/video formats, playlist transitions, and what happens if the software, computer, power, or internet connection stops. |
| Dedicated encoder hardware | A standalone appliance | YouTube-compatible streaming protocol, prerecorded-media playback and looping, audio support, and unattended restart behavior. Hardware is optional; YouTube’s official materials do not establish a best model or price. |
| Cloud continuous-stream service | Cloud infrastructure | Playlist and format support, recovery behavior, availability, and current pricing. Service features and terms vary, so verify them before relying on a particular provider. |
For the computer-based method below, use software that can play and repeat your bhajan files and send a live stream to YouTube. YouTube Studio is the destination and control room; do not assume it will loop an ordinary YouTube playlist for you.

- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube, select Create → Go Live. On the Stream tab, create a stream or load prior stream settings. YouTube may reload previous settings, including a stream key. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it.
- Copy the connection details. If your encoder offers YouTube sign-in or selection, follow its connection flow. Otherwise, copy the server or stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room into the encoder’s streaming settings.
- Set up an immediate broadcast or schedule one. For an immediate stream, start the encoder and follow the start workflow in Live Control Room. To schedule it, use Manage → Schedule stream. At the scheduled time, start the encoder, wait for the preview, and select Go live.
- Verify the playlist is actually repeating. Start playout and confirm that the encoder advances through the bhajans and returns to the beginning as intended. Check transitions and the visual output rather than assuming that a playlist setting is enabled.
For YouTube’s encoder setup and scheduled-stream instructions, see YouTube Help: stream using an encoder.

5. Set output quality and test before broadcasting
Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions to choose a compatible resolution, frame rate, codec, bitrate, and keyframe interval. Recommendations vary by codec, resolution, and frame rate, so there is no single bitrate that fits every setup. A static devotional image with audio generally needs less motion-oriented video capacity than a stream with moving video, but the encoder still has to sustain its selected output.
- Test with representative bhajan audio and the visual material you plan to show.
- Run an upload-speed test and confirm the connection can sustain the encoder’s selected settings.
- Watch the YouTube preview and stream-health indicators; listen for clipping, silence, or abrupt transitions.
- For a private rehearsal, YouTube for Artists recommends testing with an unlisted stream. Check the audience setting carefully before the public broadcast.
See YouTube’s streaming setup and troubleshooting guidance for its current testing and stream-health recommendations.

6. Plan for long-running streams and archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume one stream will run or remain archived indefinitely. A 24/7 channel needs a plan for stream boundaries, restarts, and outages; check the selected encoder or service’s scheduling and recovery behavior. Continuous output and an available archive are different requirements. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance covers ending streams and archives.

Quick Recap
Troubleshooting common problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live stream | The channel is not verified, has a live-stream restriction, or first-time activation is still processing. | Check channel eligibility and restrictions, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation. |
| Live Control Room does not receive a signal | The encoder has an incorrect server URL or stream key, or is not running. | Compare the encoder settings with the current details in Live Control Room, then restart the encoder. Keep the stream key private. |
| The stream starts but the bhajans do not repeat | The playout source is not configured to loop, or the selected software/service does not support the intended playlist behavior. | Check its repeat or playlist settings and test a full cycle before going live. |
| Playback buffers or stream health is poor | The upload connection may not sustain the chosen output, or the encoder settings may not suit the connection. | Run an upload-speed test, review YouTube’s current recommendations for the chosen codec and resolution, and retest at sustainable settings. |
| The stream is interrupted after a music match | YouTube detected third-party content, or a rights holder’s allowlist does not include the channel. | Stop using material you cannot verify rights for; coordinate with the rights holder or label about permissions and any Content ID allowlisting. |
| A long broadcast ends or has no expected archive | Long-running operation, restart behavior, and archive availability are separate; streams under 12 hours are the duration YouTube says are automatically archived. | Plan boundaries and restart behavior with your encoder/service, and do not depend on an indefinite single stream or archive. |
