To run a 240 Hz monitor at its intended refresh rate, connect it through an input and connection path that supports your chosen resolution, select that mode in Windows, and verify the active refresh rate. Then enable variable refresh rate (VRR) if your monitor and graphics card support it. A monitor’s 240 Hz rating is a capability, not proof that your PC is currently using 240 Hz—or that a game is rendering 240 frames per second.
Before you change settings, check the monitor and connection
Look up your exact monitor model’s manual or official specifications. Confirm that the input you plan to use supports 240 Hz at your intended resolution; different ports on the same monitor may have different limits. Also check whether the monitor’s on-screen display (OSD) requires a setting to be enabled for the high-refresh mode.

Connect the monitor directly to a graphics-card output where possible. A dock, adapter, KVM switch, or motherboard video output can affect which modes are available, so verify the actual mode after connecting. There is no universally correct cable recommendation without the monitor, graphics card, resolution, and input details; check the official specifications for your models before buying an accessory.
Set the resolution and refresh rate in Windows
- In Windows, open Settings > System > Display. Select the 240 Hz monitor if you use more than one display.
- Choose the intended resolution, preferably the monitor’s recommended or native resolution where practical.
- Open Advanced display and select the highest appropriate refresh rate listed for that display and resolution.
- Check the display information in the same panel to confirm the active resolution and refresh rate.
Windows shows refresh rates based on the display’s capabilities and the current mode. Some listed rates can change the resolution; Microsoft marks such a mode with an asterisk. Check the resolution again after selecting a rate. Microsoft’s refresh-rate instructions explain where to find the setting and how available modes are presented.
#1 Best Overall
- Smooth motion: 240Hz refresh rate and fast 0.5ms response time provide crisp visuals and fluid movement with less input lag.
- Seamless gaming: FreeSync Premium and HDMI VRR eliminate tearing for smooth, responsive PC and console gameplay.
- Fast IPS: Faster 0.5ms response with excellent color accuracy across wide IPS viewing angles.
- Rich color: 99% sRGB color coverage delivers vivid, detailed imagery with strong accuracy.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star certified display lowers blue light while preserving color quality.
Enable variable refresh rate if your hardware supports it
VRR lets a compatible display adjust its refresh timing to match the graphics card’s output within the supported range. It is separate from selecting a fixed 240 Hz mode: set the refresh rate in Windows, then enable the appropriate VRR feature on the monitor and in graphics software.
AMD FreeSync
- Enable FreeSync in the monitor’s OSD, if the monitor offers it. The label and location vary by model; consult the monitor manual.
- Update the AMD graphics driver.
- Open AMD Software and verify that FreeSync is enabled for the display.
AMD’s FreeSync documentation describes supported display capabilities and setup. Its examples include 1920×1080 at 240 Hz as a display capability; that example is not a benchmark or a promise about game performance.

NVIDIA G-SYNC
For NVIDIA VRR, use a G-SYNC or G-SYNC Compatible display with a compatible GPU. Open NVIDIA Control Panel, enable G-SYNC for the display, and choose the appropriate monitor technology setting. Follow NVIDIA’s G-SYNC setup instructions for the available options and display-specific steps.
Match the game’s display settings
In the game’s display or graphics settings, select the same monitor and intended resolution. The Windows refresh-rate setting and the game’s frame rate are related but different: a 240 Hz display can refresh up to 240 times per second, while the game may render fewer frames depending on the game and PC.

- 240Hz Refresh Rate: Stay above the pack with 240Hz, giving you an edge in performance as frames transition instantly.Specific uses for product - Gaming
- 1ms Response Time: Colors fade and illuminate instantly with a 1ms response time, eliminating ghosting and piecing together precise imagery during action-packed scenes and gaming.
- 1500R Curvature: The 1500R degree curved design immerses you into all of the action no matter where you choose to sit in the room.
- AMD FreeSync Premium: By accelerating the frame rate to at least 120Hz at 1080P FHD resolution and delivering low latency to prevent visible delay in data processing, AMD FreeSync Premium allows gameplay to reach the highest echelons of performance.
- Built-In Speakers: Perfectly suited to work & gaming settings, built-in speakers deliver robust & smooth audio while saving space on your desk.
On Windows 11, an optional windowed-game optimization may reduce frame latency and enable VRR for supported displays in compatible DirectX 10 or 11 games running in windowed or borderless mode. See Microsoft’s guide to optimizations for windowed games for the setting and compatibility details.

- Confirm the selected display. In Advanced display, make sure you are checking the monitor you intend to use.
- Recheck resolution and input limits. Consult the monitor manual for the exact resolution-and-refresh combination supported by the connected input.
- Check the monitor OSD. Enable any required high-bandwidth or high-refresh setting described in the manual.
- Review the entire connection path. Test a direct connection to the graphics card if you are using a dock, adapter, KVM, or motherboard output.
- Update the graphics driver. Then reopen Advanced display and check the available modes again.
- Consult model-specific documentation. If the mode remains unavailable, check the monitor and GPU documentation for port-specific limits. The right cable or accessory depends on those exact models.
Once the mode is available, choose it and confirm the active resolution and refresh rate in Windows rather than relying on the monitor’s advertised maximum.
