To run a product demo on YouTube around the clock, create an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, connect an encoder using the stream URL and key, then monitor the feed and plan for interruptions. In India, verify the channel and enable live streaming well before launch: first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. A 24/7 stream is not a guarantee of uninterrupted playback, and YouTube does not promise a complete automatic replay for a stream lasting 24 hours or longer.
Before you start: confirm the channel can go live
- Your channel must be verified and must not have a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube says creators must be at least 16 years old to livestream. YouTube’s live-streaming requirements
- Allow up to 24 hours for first-time live-streaming activation. Do this before announcing a launch date. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance
- Decide what the demo needs: screen capture, a camera, external audio, overlays, or a production feed. YouTube supports software encoders and standalone hardware encoders; hardware is optional.
- Check the sustained upload capacity and test the actual connection under operating conditions. The appropriate bitrate depends on the chosen resolution, frame rate, encoder, and connection; there is no single number established here for every Indian ISP and setup.
Choose a software or hardware encoder
| Route | Best fit | Considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | A computer-based demo, especially one built around screen capture or a flexible desktop production workflow. | Plan for the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection to remain available, and arrange monitoring and a recovery procedure. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | A camera-based demo or fixed production setup where a dedicated appliance suits the inputs and installation. | Choose equipment only after confirming the required camera inputs, codec, resolution, connectivity, and local availability. YouTube supports hardware encoders, but no particular model is required. |
For a computer-based product walkthrough, software encoding is often the direct route. Consider a hardware video encoder when your camera or production feed needs a dedicated device; it is not a prerequisite for going live.
Set up the YouTube stream and connect the encoder
- Open the live workflow. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live. Use the Stream tab for an immediate stream or Manage to schedule one. Scheduling lets you share the stream URL in advance. The exact labels may change. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance
- Fill in the stream details. Set the title, description, visibility, and other relevant details. Use a clear title and explain what viewers will see in the demo.
- Copy the connection details. In Live Control Room, copy the YouTube server URL (also called the stream URL) and stream key into the corresponding streaming settings in your encoder.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a credential: do not reveal it in a screen recording, on-camera shot, shared document, or public chat. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Wait for the incoming feed to appear in Live Control Room. For a scheduled stream, select Go live there when you are ready to begin.
Test the setup before launch
YouTube recommends configuring in advance, inspecting the preview, testing failover, checking the local archive file, and verifying playback on desktop and mobile. YouTube live streaming tips
- Start the encoder before the intended launch and inspect both picture and sound in the preview.
- Test the backup plan: stop the primary encoder or disconnect its Ethernet connection, then confirm that the player transitions to the backup as intended. Restore the primary connection and check recovery.
- If you are recording locally, confirm that the archive file is growing and that the recording can be played.
- Open the stream on the channel or watch page and check playback on both desktop and mobile.
- Keep monitoring audio and video during operation. Assign a person or a defined monitoring procedure to detect problems and respond to source, encoder, power, or internet failures. YouTube’s advice to monitor continuously is not a promise that a stream will stay connected unattended.
Choose between one continuous stream and shorter sessions
A continuous stream serves the goal of keeping the demo available at any time, but it makes interruption handling and replay planning important. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its documentation does not promise a complete automatic replay for a stream lasting 24 hours or longer. If a replay matters, consider shorter planned sessions or a separate local recording, and verify the archive workflow you intend to use before launch. YouTube’s encoder setup guidance

Check copyright, rights, and monetization policies
Use content you have the right to show
YouTube requires live content to follow its Community Guidelines and Terms of Service. You are responsible for having the necessary rights to the live content, including applicable music rights, and for meeting laws and any licensing, registration, notification, consent, or approval requirements that apply in the territory where you stream. Use original demo footage and properly licensed music and graphics. Showing a product does not, by itself, give you permission to use its promotional video or soundtrack. Do not treat a loop as a monetization guarantee
YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams. Monetized content is expected to be original and authentic; generic, mass-produced, or repetitive material can be ineligible. A demo that adds genuine explanation or shows the product meaningfully is different from simply looping an unchanged promotional clip, but eligibility is determined under YouTube’s policies. Understand India-specific eligibility and earnings limits
YouTube’s India-localized monetization guidance, accessed in 2026, lists 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified long-form watch hours in the preceding 365 days or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the preceding 90 days for ad revenue. For certain earlier features, it lists 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the preceding 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified long-form watch hours in the preceding 365 days or 3 million qualified Shorts views in the preceding 90 days. These are eligibility thresholds, not audience, sales, or revenue forecasts. Check the channel’s Earn tab for the current route and feature-specific rules. YouTube monetization guidance for India
YouTube Shopping may let eligible creators feature products from their shop or tag products from other brands through its Shopping affiliate programme. India is listed for promoting products from other brands, but channel requirements apply, including YPP membership and a subscriber threshold. Check current eligibility in Studio rather than assuming every Indian channel can tag products. Live-stream ads, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and memberships may also be available subject to eligibility; ads are not guaranteed to serve. YouTube says ads are turned off when a live stream is embedded on an external site with autoplay. Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| No preview appears after starting the encoder | Live activation is incomplete, the server URL or key is incorrect, or the encoder is not sending. | Confirm activation is complete, recheck the URL and key in the encoder, and verify the encoder is running. If the key was exposed, replace it and update the encoder. |
| The scheduled stream is not visible to viewers | The encoder feed may be present, but the scheduled event has not been started in Live Control Room. | Check the preview and select Go live in Live Control Room when ready. |
| Playback stops after an internet, power, or encoder failure | The stream lost its source or connection, or the backup path was not ready. | Restore the source and connection, follow the documented recovery procedure, and test failover before the next launch. YouTube recommends testing the backup rather than assuming it works. |
| Picture or audio degrades during a long run | The source, encoder, or connection may have changed or become unstable. | Monitor the live output continuously; inspect the source and encoder, then test sustained upload capacity under operating conditions. Do not apply a generic bitrate target without matching it to your resolution, frame rate, encoder, and connection. |
| No complete replay is available after a day-long stream | YouTube’s stated automatic archive condition covers streams under 12 hours, not a guaranteed complete replay for streams of 24 hours or longer. | For future runs, use shorter sessions or a separate local recording and confirm the archive workflow before launch. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If the product demo is an uploaded video rather than a live camera feed, StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud keeps the stream running without a computer or home connection left on. Each slot streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it also includes 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. UPI and cards are supported in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. It is a YouTube-only service for uploaded video, not a camera-based live production system. Start the free day with StreamNeo.
