Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteYou can run a Marathi music radio-style broadcast on YouTube with OBS by clearing the music rights first, enabling live streaming, connecting OBS to YouTube’s Live Control Room, and keeping the encoder and internet connection running. The biggest risks are not OBS settings: YouTube can interrupt music that matches Content ID, even when you have a license, and a YouTube stream longer than 12 hours may not be archived. This guide covers the local OBS setup, continuous-operation planning, and a cloud alternative.
Before setup, clear the rights to every recording
Do not start by building a playlist. First make a rights inventory for every recording and composition you intend to broadcast. Confirm who owns or administers each one, where the stream may be watched, whether the permission covers live streaming, and whether it also covers an archived replay. YouTube’s live-stream terms put responsibility on the channel operator to have the necessary rights, including music rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants, as well as applicable territorial permissions.

A track being available on a music service, credited in the description, or described as “copyright-free” does not establish that you may broadcast it. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can result in a placeholder over the stream, a warning to stop using the material, a temporary interruption or termination, or termination after a strike. Even a licensed track may be interrupted if its rights owner has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Ask the relevant rights holder, label, publisher, or distributor to confirm both the permissions and any required Content ID allowlisting before launch.

Confirm them with the relevant rights holders or qualified local counsel.

Check whether the channel can livestream
YouTube’s current Help guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. YouTube also says livestreamers must be at least 16 years old. First-time live-stream enablement can take up to 24 hours, so complete this step well before the planned launch.
Create a YouTube broadcast and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio and enter the Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one. Choose the encoder workflow; OBS will send the video and audio to YouTube.
- Copy the YouTube stream URL and stream key. In OBS, open its stream settings and enter the server URL and key supplied by YouTube. Use the YouTube service preset if it is available in your OBS version.
- Keep the key private. Treat it like a password: anyone who gets it may be able to send a broadcast to your channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the new key.
- Start sending the encoder feed and check the preview. YouTube creates the watch page when the encoder begins sending. If you scheduled the broadcast, wait for the preview in Live Control Room and select Go live there when it is ready.
- Test before making the channel public. Use a private or unlisted test, listen to the audio on another device, check the watch page and preview, and confirm that Live Control Room reports healthy stream status before launch.
OBS interface labels can vary by version. For current OBS-specific steps, use the OBS Project Knowledge Base or Help Portal rather than relying on old screenshots or forum instructions.

Choose encoder settings that fit the connection
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the connection to Google’s servers. For RTMP/RTMPS it lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video; AAC or MP3 audio; CBR bitrate encoding; frame rates up to 60 fps; and a recommended two-second keyframe interval that should not exceed four seconds. H.264 at 1080p30 or 720p30 is a straightforward starting point when compatibility matters.
| Setting | YouTube guidance | Practical choice for a radio stream |
|---|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMP or RTMPS; YouTube recommends RTMPS. | Use the YouTube service/preset in OBS when available, and use RTMPS if the preset offers it. |
| Video codec | H.264, H.265, or AV1 are listed for RTMP/RTMPS. | Choose H.264 for a simple compatibility-oriented starting setup. |
| Video bitrate | YouTube recommends H.264 ingest at 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 3 Mbps for 720p30. | Choose a resolution and bitrate your actual upload can sustain; these are ingest recommendations, not a guarantee of the quality every viewer receives. |
| Rate control | CBR. | Set OBS output to constant bitrate. |
| Frame rate | Up to 60 fps is listed. | A static-image radio visual usually does not need a high frame rate; use a setting your computer and connection can maintain. |
| Keyframe interval | Two seconds recommended; do not exceed four seconds. | Set the interval explicitly if OBS does not inherit it from the selected service preset. |
| Audio | AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS; 128 Kbps stereo is recommended. | Check that the program audio is audible, in stereo as intended, and not clipping. |
The bitrate values above describe the encoder’s upload to YouTube, not the rights status of the music. No encoding setting grants permission to use a recording.

Build and test the Marathi music program
Prepare the audio files and any visual material you have permission to use. Decide the order and duration of the songs, how transitions should sound, and whether the program uses a static image or other visuals. Test the actual program materials in a non-public broadcast: listen for silence, abrupt cuts, clipping, unexpected gaps, and any difference between the local OBS output and YouTube’s preview.
Whether you use OBS media sources, a playlist workflow, or another supported method, confirm the current loop and restart behavior in the documentation for your installed OBS version. Do not assume that one playlist setting works identically across OBS versions or source types. Test a complete cycle before leaving the channel unattended, including what happens when the final item ends or a file is unavailable.

Plan for a stream that needs to stay online
A local OBS broadcast depends on the computer, power, encoder, and outbound internet staying available. YouTube recommends upload bandwidth at least 20% above the total stream bitrate. Measure upload speed, not just download speed, and leave extra margin if other people or devices share the connection. A speed test is only a snapshot; observe the real encoder feed and YouTube stream health under the conditions in which the channel will run.
Recommended Free Tools
- Assign someone to notice failures. Decide who will receive or check alerts and who can restart the broadcast. The guidance does not prescribe an auto-restart tool or guarantee an unattended 24/7 setup.
- Test the recovery path. Practice recovering from a brief internet outage, encoder crash, or power interruption. Confirm the right stream key is available securely and that the operator knows how to restore the feed.
- Keep a local recording if the archive matters. Verify that the recording file is being written and continues to grow. YouTube recommends a local backup rather than relying solely on its automatic archive.
Choose between continuous listening and a complete replay
YouTube may automatically archive streams under 12 hours, but warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuous live channel and a dependable complete replay are therefore separate goals.
- If uninterrupted listening is the priority: Keep the broadcast continuous, but do not count on YouTube to produce a complete archive for a stream exceeding 12 hours. Maintain a local recording if you need a copy.
- If a YouTube replay is important: Plan broadcast segments shorter than 12 hours, verify the archive after each segment, and keep local recordings as a backup. Segmenting requires a planned handoff or restart, so account for the possibility of a brief interruption.
Common problems and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| No preview appears in Live Control Room. | OBS is not sending to the correct server URL or the stream key is wrong, expired, or mismatched. | Compare OBS’s server URL and key with the current values in YouTube Studio. Keep the key private; reset it if it may have been exposed. |
| YouTube interrupts the music broadcast. | A Content ID match or other rights issue. | Stop using the matched material and review the YouTube notice. Confirm that permissions cover live streaming and that the rights owner has allowlisted the channel where required. |
| Audio drops out, stutters, or sounds distorted. | Possible source-file, OBS, or connection issue. | Listen to the source locally and to the YouTube preview; inspect OBS audio meters and stream health. Test again with the actual program and reduce settings if the connection cannot sustain them. |
| The stream becomes unstable when other people use the network. | Available upload bandwidth may fall below the encoder’s total bitrate plus the recommended headroom. | Check upload capacity during normal shared use, reduce the stream bitrate or resolution if needed, and retest with at least 20% headroom above total bitrate. |
| The live broadcast exists, but the replay is missing or incomplete. | The stream ran longer than 12 hours, or archive capture did not complete. | Do not rely on an over-12-hour stream being archived. Use shorter planned segments and a local recording backup if replay availability matters. |
