You can run a prerecorded deep house playlist as a YouTube Live stream with OBS by adding the playlist as an OBS VLC Video source, enabling Loop Playlist, and sending OBS to a YouTube encoder stream. The loop handles playback—not reliability: your computer, OBS, internet connection, media files, and YouTube ingest all need to keep working for the broadcast to stay live.
Before you build the stream
Confirm YouTube Live access
Your YouTube channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so check access before scheduling a launch. See YouTube’s live streaming tips.

Clear the music for public broadcast
Confirm that you have permission for both the musical composition and the particular recording, and that the permission covers public online transmission on YouTube. Check territory, term, monetization, and platform conditions in your license or agreement. Buying a track, having a consumer music subscription, or finding music online does not by itself establish broadcast rights.
If you use licensed third-party content, ask the rights owner whether your channel must be added to their Content ID allowlist. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches; it may display a placeholder, warn you, or temporarily interrupt or terminate a stream if the content remains. Prepare the files and playlist
Keep the media files available on the computer running OBS, and test that each one plays from beginning to end. Make a written track order if the sequence matters. Leave Shuffle off for a predictable DJ-style progression, and test transitions and audio levels across several track boundaries before going live.
Build a looping playlist in OBS
Use VLC Video for multiple tracks

Install VLC on the computer running OBS. OBS’s VLC Video source depends on VLC being installed; if that source is missing, check the installation and restart OBS.

In OBS, select the scene for the broadcast. In the Sources box, select + and choose VLC Video.

Name the source, then add your local files to its playlist using the source properties. Arrange the tracks in the desired order.

Enable Loop Playlist. Leave Shuffle Playlist off unless you specifically want tracks in a different order on each pass.

Start playback and check both the video canvas and OBS audio meter. Listen through transitions; a moving meter alone does not confirm that playback sounds right.

OBS documents VLC Video as the playlist-capable source, with loop and shuffle controls. Its Media Sources guide also describes Media Source for individual video and audio files. That source supports formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, WebM, MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV, and has a Loop option that restarts one file at the end.

If you are streaming one long mix rather than a playlist, add it as an OBS Media Source and enable its Loop property. Use VLC Video when you need multiple files played as a playlist; use Media Source when one file is enough.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live

Open YouTube Studio and enter Live Control Room. Create or schedule an encoder stream, then copy the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s walkthrough is Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

In OBS, open Settings → Stream. Select YouTube as the service and enter the stream key, or choose the server and key fields shown for the encoder setup and paste the values from Live Control Room. Labels can differ slightly by OBS version and connection method.

Keep the stream key private. It functions like a credential for sending a stream to your channel. If it is exposed or misused, reset it in YouTube’s live-stream settings; see Manage live stream settings.

Set your stream title, visibility, and other event details in Live Control Room. Confirm that the correct event is selected before starting the encoder.

Set output quality and test before launch
For an ordinary SDR music stream, RTMP or RTMPS is sufficient; HLS is not required just to loop a playlist. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. Its current encoder guidance recommends CBR and a two-second keyframe interval, not exceeding four seconds. For stereo audio it recommends AAC or MP3 at 128 kbps and 44.1 kHz. Use YouTube’s encoder settings and bitrate table for the exact video target for your selected codec, resolution, and frame rate.
As one specific reference point, YouTube’s current table lists H.264 at 1080p30 as 5 Mbps minimum and 14 Mbps recommended. That is not a universal bitrate for other resolutions, frame rates, or codecs. Pick a target your stable upload connection can sustain, and test with audio and motion resembling the actual stream. YouTube transcodes streams for playback formats, but you should still check the live preview and stream health rather than assume an encoder setting guarantees a good result.

Start the OBS encoder and wait for the YouTube preview. Confirm the picture, audio, and selected event.

Watch OBS’s audio meter and listen to the preview. Check for silence, clipping, unexpected gaps, or abrupt level changes between tracks.

Check Live Control Room stream health and keep OBS and YouTube visible during the initial run.

What 24/7 means for a local OBS setup
Loop Playlist repeats the media; it does not restart a failed computer or OBS session, restore a lost internet connection, or guarantee YouTube ingest. Continuity depends on the host computer, power, network, local media files, OBS and source playback, and YouTube’s receiving service. The official guidance cited here does not quantify outage rates or promise failover for a single local OBS instance. Plan to monitor the broadcast and have a way to respond if any part stops.
Plan for the archive separately
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not establish that one 24-hour broadcast will be archived in full. If a complete replay matters, arrange a separate recording workflow and verify its output rather than relying on a full-length YouTube archive. See YouTube’s encoder guide.

VLC Video does not appear in OBS: Install VLC on the same computer, then restart OBS. The VLC-dependent source will not be available without it.

The playlist stops after one pass: Open the VLC Video source properties and enable Loop Playlist. For a single Media Source file, enable its Loop property instead.

Tracks play in an unexpected order: Turn off Shuffle Playlist and confirm the playlist order in the source properties.

YouTube receives no stream: Check that OBS has the correct stream URL and key for the intended Live Control Room event, that the channel has live access, and that the computer is online. Reset an exposed key in YouTube’s stream settings.

The YouTube preview has no audio: Check that the source is playing, the OBS audio meter moves, the source is not muted, and the preview itself is audible. Check the encoder’s audio configuration against YouTube’s published guidance.

The stream is unstable or YouTube reports poor health: Test at a lower video target that your stable upload can support, then check the encoder settings, connection, and stream health again. Do not increase bitrate beyond what the connection can sustain.

The stream is interrupted for a music match: Review the match notice and contact the rights owner. If you have a license, ask whether they need to allowlist your channel in Content ID; having a license does not itself prevent automated interruption.

The stream stops overnight: A playlist loop cannot recover from a computer shutdown, power or network loss, OBS failure, or ingest interruption. Check which component failed and restore it; the local setup has no automatic recovery guarantee.
