You can run a Telugu music 24/7 stream on YouTube with OBS by enabling YouTube Live, sending OBS’s video feed to a YouTube stream using its URL and stream key, and keeping the encoder computer and internet connection running. The setup is only half the job: get copyright permission for every recording and visual you broadcast, and plan for the limits on long-stream archives.
This guide covers the OBS-to-YouTube Live setup, stream settings and checks, music rights, and ways to keep the broadcast running. YouTube’s labels and controls can change; the steps below refer to YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and OBS’s stream settings.

Before you start: separate the three requirements
A 24/7 Telugu music stream depends on three things: an eligible YouTube channel with live streaming enabled, an encoder that can keep sending a feed, and copyright permission for the music and visuals. Having a stream key does not grant music rights, and owning or downloading a song does not automatically grant permission to broadcast it.
- Channel access: YouTube says first-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours. Enable it before your planned launch.
- Encoder and connection: OBS runs on a computer that must stay powered, connected to the internet, and able to play the chosen media source.
- Rights: Confirm that your permissions cover the live broadcast, relevant territories, and any archive or later viewing. Resolve Content ID allowlisting with the rights holder where needed.
YouTube documents software encoders running on computers and standalone hardware encoders as ways to send a live feed. Its guidance does not establish a universal PC specification or a single best bitrate for every stream.

1. Enable YouTube Live and prepare the channel
- Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. Complete YouTube’s channel verification or other eligibility steps shown for your account. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave it until just before launch. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- Choose the stream’s format and purpose. Decide whether you need one continuous broadcast, scheduled sessions, or shorter sessions that can be archived. A scheduled stream can appear as upcoming and let viewers select “Notify me,” but scheduling does not keep OBS running.
- Settle rights before building an audience around the stream. Make a list of each recording, composition, and visual you plan to use, and confirm permission for the actual use. Details are in the copyright section below.
2. Build the OBS scene and choose a playback source
Install OBS Studio from the official OBS project site. Create a scene with the visual and audio sources you intend to broadcast, then confirm that the sound reaches OBS’s audio meters and appears in the preview. A static image, title card, or other visual still needs appropriate rights if it is not yours.
For Telugu music, prepare a playlist or playback source containing only material you are permitted to use. The official YouTube and OBS material cited here establishes OBS as a software-encoder option, but does not verify a specific playlist-loop workflow or OBS menu path. Check the current OBS documentation for the exact source and looping controls in your installed version; do not assume that a source repeats unless you have tested it.
Check the whole playback chain
- Play representative material, including the transitions and any quiet or loud sections you expect in the broadcast.
- Watch OBS’s audio meters while the source plays. Confirm the preview shows the intended image and that sound is not missing or routed only to a device that is not part of the stream.
- Test the planned repeat behavior and the return from the end of the playlist before leaving the stream unattended.
3. Create a YouTube stream and connect OBS
- In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one. YouTube’s setup guidance covers both starting and scheduling a stream.
- In Live Control Room, find the stream URL and stream key for that stream. Copy them carefully.
- In OBS, open Settings and then Stream. Select YouTube as the service if it is available in your OBS version, then enter or connect the stream URL and key as prompted. If OBS offers a YouTube account connection, use the on-screen flow; if configuring a custom server, use the URL and key from Live Control Room.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not publish it in a screenshot or chat. If it is exposed, reset or regenerate it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- Use RTMPS when available. YouTube recommends RTMPS for sending a live stream.
Exact labels and connection flows can vary by OBS version and YouTube’s current interface. The important check is that OBS is using the URL and key belonging to the intended YouTube stream.

4. Set quality, test the feed, and go live
Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to suit the intended output and the upload capacity of the connection. There is no universal bitrate or computer specification that fits every scene, encoder, frame rate, and network. A high-quality source cannot compensate for an unstable upload connection.
- Set the output you intend to maintain. In OBS’s video and output settings, choose the resolution, frame rate, and encoder settings appropriate to the stream. Use YouTube’s current live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance rather than copying a number from an unrelated setup.
- Test under representative conditions. Run a private or unlisted test if appropriate for your channel, with the same type of music, visuals, and motion planned for the real stream. Check that the upload remains stable and that audio stays in sync.
- Check YouTube’s preview and stream-health messages. Resolve warnings before promoting the stream or leaving it unattended. A picture in OBS’s local preview alone does not prove that YouTube is receiving a healthy feed.
- Start the feed from OBS. Then complete any required “Go live” action in Live Control Room. For a scheduled stream, confirm the correct scheduled event is receiving the feed.
5. Plan continuity for a true 24/7 stream
With OBS, the broadcast depends on the computer, its power, the internet upload connection, OBS itself, and the playback source staying available. A crash, power loss, network interruption, or playlist stopping can break continuity. YouTube’s stream-health checks can help identify feed problems, but they do not keep a failed computer or connection running.
- Reduce avoidable interruptions: Keep the encoder computer on reliable power, use a stable network connection, and disable sleep settings that would stop the computer or network during the broadcast.
- Match optional resilience measures to the risk: A UPS may help with brief power interruptions; backup internet may help if the primary connection fails. These are optional measures, not stated YouTube requirements, and neither guarantees an uninterrupted stream.
- Have a recovery plan: Know how to restart OBS, verify the playback source, and confirm that YouTube is receiving a healthy feed after a failure. A scheduled event can help viewers find a launch, but does not provide encoder failover.
24/7 live does not mean one complete archive
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all, and DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable on streams exceeding 12 hours. If a complete saved video matters, plan shorter sessions under 12 hours and keep a local recording backup; do not rely on YouTube to preserve one uninterrupted day-long archive. Copyright permission for Telugu music
YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility for rights on the person providing the live content. YouTube states: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read the YouTube Terms of Service and confirm that your particular permissions cover the intended broadcast.
What to verify with a rights holder or distributor
- Permission for live streaming, not merely personal listening, download, or use in a non-live video.
- The territories covered and how long the permission lasts.
- Whether the permission covers monetization, attribution, and an archived stream or later viewing.
- Whether the channel must be allowlisted through Content ID before going live, and who will arrange that.
- Whether both the composition and the particular recording are covered, along with any visuals used.
Keep license records and written confirmations. “Free,” “royalty-free,” or purchased music is not, by itself, proof that live broadcast and archive rights are included.
Content ID can interrupt a licensed broadcast
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may cause a placeholder to appear, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. YouTube advises creators who have licensed third-party content to ask the owner to add their channel to its Content ID allowlist; a license alone may not prevent an interruption if allowlisting was not done. If you archive a stream, claims can also be made on the archived video after the broadcast ends. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.

YouTube recommends its Audio Library as a safe source, while advising creators to check third-party music licenses for permitted uses. Its catalog may not meet a Telugu-music channel’s needs. Original commissioned music or a catalog licensed for this specific use may be more suitable, but confirm the terms and any Content ID arrangements directly with the rights holder.

OBS is the software-encoder route: it gives you a computer-based production setup for scenes and overlays, and can support a local recording if configured for it. It also means the computer’s encoding workload, heat, power, software, and network become part of the always-on operation. A standalone hardware encoder is a dedicated alternative, but suitability depends on its supported workload and production needs. The available YouTube guidance does not establish a tested winner, model requirement, or numeric minimum specification.

A mini PC for OBS streaming may suit a fixed, modest production, but choose only after matching its capabilities to the resolution, frame rate, encoder, cooling, and continuous-use needs of your setup. No particular model or minimum CPU/GPU requirement is established here. A local recording can provide a backup, but it also uses storage and system resources; test that it does not destabilize the stream.
