You can build a continuous YouTube study program from recorded UPSC lessons, but treat “24/7” as a schedule to maintain—not a promise that one broadcast will stay live or be archived forever. First confirm your channel is eligible for live streaming, then test an encoder workflow, check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview, verify any local recording, and plan for sessions under 12 hours. YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Choose the kind of UPSC study stream you want to run
Decide whether viewers will see a live study session, a loop of recorded lessons, or a scheduled sequence of recorded study videos. These are different programming choices: a recorded lesson presented as a live broadcast is not the same as a teacher speaking live. Label recorded material clearly in the stream title, description, and any on-screen text so viewers know what they are watching.

Prepare a recorded-content workflow with an encoder
YouTube identifies encoder streaming as an option for broadcasts that use prepared video, overlays, or additional hardware. For an ongoing UPSC program, prepare the video sequence and any title cards or schedule information in advance. Use an encoder or cloud service that can feed the prepared material to YouTube; the precise controls for loading and repeating media depend on that software and are not specified in YouTube’s general guidance.
- Arrange your program. Put lessons in the order viewers should see them, and make titles and transitions clear. Keep a master copy of the source videos on storage you control.
- Set up a YouTube stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream and open the Live Control Room. Use the stream key and server information shown there in your chosen encoder. Treat the stream key as a password: do not publish it or share it with viewers.
- Configure the encoder for the actual source. Choose the intended video and audio inputs and confirm that the output matches your prepared content. YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not prescribe a specific resolution, bitrate, frame rate, or keyframe interval for this UPSC workflow, so use settings supported by your encoder and connection rather than relying on an unsupported universal preset.
- Start the encoder before making the stream public. YouTube recommends setting up in advance and starting the encoder before the event. Wait for the Live Control Room preview and check that both picture and sound are correct before you go live.
- Verify local recording and monitor quality. If you are recording locally, confirm that the file is being created and continues to grow. Monitor the broadcast for missing audio, frozen video, or an encoder/network interruption; YouTube recommends checking stream quality rather than assuming a stream is healthy because it started.
Plan continuity and archives around YouTube’s 12-hour guidance
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. That is why one uninterrupted day-long broadcast is a poor archive plan if you need the complete program saved on YouTube. Schedule manageable sessions below that threshold, and decide how each session’s local recording will be checked, named, and backed up.

YouTube recommends keeping a local archive backup. The amount of storage you need depends on the recording’s resolution, bitrate, hours recorded, and how long you retain files; YouTube’s guidance does not name a recommended drive capacity. An external hard drive can serve as a backup destination, but choose capacity from your own recording profile rather than a generic number.
Use only content you have rights to stream
Use original UPSC lessons or material you have permission to broadcast. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content; a broadcast can be interrupted or terminated. A licensed rights holder may need to allowlist your channel through Content ID, or the stream could still be interrupted. YouTube also says archived livestreams can receive Content ID claims after the broadcast ends. Review YouTube’s guidance on live-stream content and copyright and keep records of relevant licenses.

For a study channel, this applies not only to lectures but also to background music, film or news clips, textbook scans, and graphics. Permission to use an item in a classroom or personal study does not automatically establish permission to stream it publicly. YouTube’s cited guidance does not guarantee that a particular use is lawful or that a claim will not occur.
How India’s government webcast context relates
The National Informatics Centre describes live and on-demand webcast services and lists OBS among encoder technologies. It also reports providing webcast services to government TV channels on a 24×7 basis. This shows that continuous webcast operations exist in an institutional setting; it does not mean an individual YouTube creator receives the same infrastructure, staffing, or availability. Troubleshoot the common failure points
- You cannot start a live stream: confirm the channel is verified and check for a live-streaming restriction within the preceding 90 days.
- The Live Control Room has no usable preview: check that the encoder is sending to the stream key and server details currently shown in YouTube Studio, then wait for the preview before publishing.
- Viewers cannot hear the lesson: inspect the encoder’s selected audio source and monitor the Live Control Room preview before going live.
- The stream stops or is interrupted: check the encoder and network, then restart according to your encoder’s controls. Do not treat a reconnect as proof that the entire YouTube archive will be complete; maintain and verify a local recording.
- The YouTube archive is missing or incomplete: compare the session length with YouTube’s 12-hour guidance and check your local recording. YouTube warns that streams over 12 hours may not be captured at all.
- A copyright match interrupts the program or appears afterward: remove or replace material you do not control, or resolve the rights issue with the relevant owner. For licensed content, check whether the owner must allowlist your channel through Content ID.
