First verify that your channel can livestream and clear the rights for every track and visual. Then connect an encoder using the stream URL and key from YouTube Studio, test the feed, and plan for outages and YouTube’s 12-hour archive limit. A computer-based setup depends on that computer, its power, and its internet connection staying available.
What you need for a 24/7 meditation stream
- A YouTube channel eligible for livestreaming.
- Meditation music and visuals you have the rights to use in a livestream, any replay, and any intended monetization.
- An encoder: software on a computer or a hosted service that sends the feed to YouTube.
- A reliable internet connection with enough sustained upload capacity for the video bitrate, plus headroom.
- A plan for monitoring, reconnecting after interruptions, and recording locally if you need a replay.
YouTube describes encoders as a way to produce livestreams with external audio or video and more advanced production. The encoder sends the feed to YouTube using the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube requires a verified channel and no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube also says creators must be at least 16 years old. If you are enabling livestreaming for the first time, activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this well before your planned launch.
Clear the music and visual rights first
Use assets licensed for this exact use
Use music you composed or commissioned, or obtain a license that covers the intended YouTube livestream, territories, archive, and monetization plans. A “royalty-free” label, a purchased download, a music-streaming subscription, or a credit line does not by itself establish those rights. YouTube’s livestream terms require you to have the necessary rights for the content, including applicable music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other participants. Read the license and ask the rights holder about any restrictions that are unclear.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check Content ID before going on air
YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party matches. If it detects content, it can replace the stream with a placeholder and issue a warning; continued use can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A license does not necessarily prevent that interruption: the rights holder may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Confirm this with the licensor before launching.
Clear the visual too
Use your own artwork or visuals licensed for the same uses as your music. A static scene, original artwork, or restrained animation can suit this format; YouTube does not require a particular visual style or animation for meditation music.

Create the YouTube livestream
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
- In Live Control Room, create a stream from the Stream tab, or schedule it from Manage.
- Set the title, description, thumbnail, visibility, and chat settings. If you schedule the stream, YouTube says the upcoming event may appear in subscribers’ feeds, and viewers can request a reminder.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room. In your encoder’s destination settings, enter the URL and key exactly as shown.
- Keep the key private: it is the credential that lets the encoder send a feed to your stream. If it is exposed, reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder with the replacement.
Configure the encoder and prepare the loop
Connect your source
Use an encoder that can play your prepared audio and visual continuously and send them to YouTube. Exact controls vary by encoder, so follow its instructions for selecting the source, destination, and stream key. The YouTube setup guidance covered here does not establish one required resolution, bitrate, or keyframe interval for every meditation stream; choose settings supported by your source, encoder, and available upload capacity, then check YouTube’s Live Control Room preview for a healthy incoming feed.
Check the loop before publishing
Listen through the transition between the end and beginning of the music. Check for clicks, gaps, clipping, unexpected silence, and any visual glitch. Test the complete loop before relying on it for an overnight or continuous broadcast. These are production checks, not a YouTube-mandated editing method.

Plan upload capacity, power, and monitoring
Leave upload headroom
YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the stream bitrate. When using a primary and backup stream, account for both streams plus that headroom. Shared Wi-Fi and other household traffic can reduce the capacity actually available to the encoder; where practical, use a stable wired connection and test under the conditions in which you will stream.
Reduce local failure points
For a local encoder, keep the computer from sleeping or restarting unexpectedly and consider backup power for local equipment. A UPS can help through a brief power interruption, but it cannot keep your internet provider or YouTube online. A separate internet path addresses a different failure mode than backup power.

Test and keep watch
YouTube’s setup checklist advises configuring the encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes before a scheduled broadcast. It also recommends checking the Live Control Room preview, testing backup failover, verifying the watch page on mobile, checking that the local archive file is growing, and monitoring audio and video quality. For a 24/7 stream, adapt that preparation into regular checks of playback, alerts, and recovery behavior rather than assuming the feed will remain healthy unattended.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Understand archives and DVR for a long broadcast
YouTube automatically archives streams under 12 hours, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24/7 event therefore may not produce a replay. If you need an archive, record locally and plan for storage, or schedule shorter sessions and verify how each session is archived. Shorter sessions introduce a restart or handoff, so explain it to viewers if uninterrupted playback matters. YouTube also says rewind capability can be limited or unavailable for very long broadcasts, including those over 12 hours.

Do not assume a loop will qualify for monetization
YouTube Partner Program creators may be able to monetize livestreams, but leaving a stream running does not guarantee eligibility or ad serving. YouTube’s monetization guidance applies to livestreams and says repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible. Original music, meaningful creative variation, and a channel that clearly demonstrates authorship and value are more defensible than assuming a static image and endlessly repeated track will pass review.
Troubleshoot common problems
- Live streaming is not available: verify the channel, check for a live-streaming restriction from the preceding 90 days, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
- YouTube receives no feed: check that the encoder is running and that the stream URL and key match the current stream in Live Control Room. If the key was exposed or reset, replace it in the encoder.
- The feed drops or becomes unstable: check actual sustained upload capacity, competing network use, Wi-Fi stability, and whether the source computer or router lost power. Leave the recommended 20% upload headroom and test backup failover.
- The stream is interrupted by a copyright match: stop or replace the matched material, review the rights for the track, and ask the rights holder whether your channel must be allowlisted in Content ID. Do not treat a purchase or license as proof that automated interruptions are impossible.
- No replay appears after a long broadcast: a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured. Use a local recording or plan shorter sessions if an archive is essential.
- Viewers cannot rewind far back: DVR may be limited or unavailable on very long streams, including those over 12 hours; set expectations accordingly.
