But software setup is only one part of a dependable 24/7 Indian music channel: clear the rights for every recording first, enable YouTube Live in advance, and plan separately for stream interruptions and archived replays.
Before you set up: clear the music rights
Restreamer sends your stream to YouTube; it does not grant permission to use the music you stream. Before preparing a public schedule, make an inventory of the exact recordings and compositions you plan to play. For each, establish who controls the relevant rights and obtain permission that covers continuous YouTube live use in your intended territories.

Ask the rights holder whether your YouTube channel must be added to its Content ID allowlist. YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can lead to a placeholder image, interruption, or termination. YouTube also warns that having a license does not by itself prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel. The YouTube Help article “Copyright issues with live streams” explains the platform’s scanning and enforcement.

- Check that the permission covers live streaming, continuous or repeated playback, your intended territories, the license term, and any monetization you plan to use.
- Ask whether replay or video-on-demand rights are included. Live permission does not necessarily cover an archived replay.
- Get the Content ID allowlisting process and timing from the rights holder, then verify that your channel is covered before launch.
- Keep written records of permissions, covered tracks, territories, dates, and any restrictions.
YouTube’s help page does not identify who owns a particular Indian song or grant the rights to use it. If ownership or scope is unclear, resolve that with the relevant rights holders before broadcasting. Music listed by Restreamer has a separate attribution license for YouTube live use; that permission does not cover arbitrary Indian film, label, or artist recordings.

Enable YouTube Live before launch
Your channel must be eligible to stream live. Restream’s YouTube guide says first-time activation requires phone verification and may take 24 hours after enabling. Complete the channel steps early, then confirm that YouTube Studio allows your channel to create or start a live stream before you plan a launch. The 24-hour wait is a first-time activation delay described by Restream Help Center in a page dated July 9, 2026; it is not a promise that every channel will be activated on an identical schedule.
Connect Restreamer to a YouTube Live event
- Create the live event in YouTube Studio. Set up the event and obtain its valid streaming ID or stream key using YouTube’s current live-stream workflow. Use the privacy setting appropriate for your test or launch; a private or unlisted test is prudent before a public broadcast.
- Protect the credential. Treat the stream key as a password. Do not publish it, include it in a screenshot, or share it with anyone who does not need access. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update Restreamer.
- Enter it in Restreamer. In datarhei Restreamer, open Publication Service, enter the valid streaming ID from YouTube, and save. Start the stream from Restreamer. The exact appearance of the controls may differ between Restreamer releases.
- Verify reception in both services. Restreamer’s YouTube guide says the bitrate appears in its main window after connection. Also check the event’s stream-health or preview information in YouTube Studio to confirm YouTube is receiving a usable picture and sound. A connection alone does not confirm that the rights are cleared or that the broadcast will remain uninterrupted.
- Run a short test before promoting the channel. Use only cleared music. Check audio, video, the YouTube preview, Content ID allowlisting, and how the test is archived. This test is a practical precaution, not a guarantee against later claims or interruptions.
Choose settings without relying on obsolete recipes
The available Restreamer guidance for codec settings is from the deprecated 0.6.x documentation, so it should not be treated as a current requirement. It describes AAC as required for that setup and MP3 as possible, but it does not establish the right codec, bitrate, resolution, frame rate, or keyframe interval for a current Restreamer release and your specific YouTube event. Do not copy those legacy settings as a universal 24/7 configuration.
Rank #2
Use settings supported by the Restreamer version you have installed and the ingest guidance shown for your YouTube event. Confirm the resulting stream health in YouTube Studio and listen to the test playback. If you change an encoder setting, test again before leaving the stream unattended. The available source material does not establish a hardware specification, upload-bandwidth target, or encoding profile for this workload.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Plan for continuous streaming and archived replays separately
Restream Help Center’s 2026 guide says YouTube does not impose a stream-duration limit, but archives only streams shorter than 12 hours. In other words, a continuous stream may stay live beyond 12 hours without YouTube producing a complete replay of that entire broadcast. Do not confuse the archive condition with a 12-hour limit on going live.
Rank #3
If a complete recording matters, design a recording or segmented-broadcast workflow and verify the actual archive behavior before relying on it. For a planned shutdown where DVR archival matters, datarhei Restreamer’s YouTube instructions say: “Always end the stream on YouTube first after an event.” Follow that sequence rather than simply stopping Restreamer first.
What to decide before leaving the stream on
- Rights and channel status: all tracks are covered for the intended use, the channel is allowlisted where needed, and YouTube Live is enabled.
- Operations: you know what device or host is running Restreamer, how it will stay connected, and who will notice and respond if the stream stops. Restreamer is self-hosted; the sources cited here do not establish the hardware or network resources required for a particular 24/7 setup.
- Recovery: decide how you will detect a lost connection and restart or investigate it. A stream that starts successfully is not proof that it will recover from every failure.
- Recordings: decide whether you need a full replay and test your recording or segment plan, rather than assuming a long continuous broadcast will be archived in full.
- Launch: test with cleared material and check YouTube Studio before sharing the public event.
Common problems and what to check
- YouTube does not receive the stream: confirm YouTube Live is enabled, the event is ready, the stream ID or key is current, and the saved value in Restreamer matches it. If you replaced the key, update the saved Restreamer configuration.
- The connection is rejected or does not start: recheck the credential and event status in YouTube Studio, then review the installed Restreamer version’s current controls. Do not assume a legacy 0.6.x codec instruction applies to a newer release.
- You see a placeholder image or the stream is interrupted: check YouTube Studio for a copyright notice or other stream warning. Confirm permissions for the exact recording and use, and ask the rights holder to verify Content ID allowlisting for your channel.
- The live event is available but the replay is incomplete or missing: check the broadcast length and the archive behavior. Restream’s guide reports that YouTube archives streams shorter than 12 hours; use a tested recording or segmented plan if you need a complete replay.
- The stream stops after launch: check whether the host, network connection, Restreamer process, or YouTube event stopped, then restart only after confirming the event and key are valid. The cited sources do not establish automatic recovery behavior for a self-hosted Restreamer installation.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube channel to keep playing uploaded music without keeping a computer running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It streams uploaded videos to YouTube only; it does not broadcast from a camera.
