Before you start, plan for music rights, stream interruptions and YouTube’s archive limit: a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. A continuous feed also does not guarantee monetization.
Plan the channel before you go live
A 24/7 bhajan channel is a continuous YouTube livestream, not simply a playlist of songs. You need a program of recordings you are allowed to stream, a way to send that program to YouTube, and a plan for what happens if the stream stops or you need a replay archive.

Check that the channel can livestream
YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. The channel operator must also meet YouTube’s age requirements. Confirm eligibility before preparing a long broadcast; an encoder cannot bypass a channel restriction.
Choose the program and its original contribution
Decide whether the feed will feature original performances, commissioned recordings, a curated devotional program, host commentary or other distinct creative work. A static image over a repeating playlist may be easy to operate, but do not assume that alone will meet YouTube’s originality standards for monetization review.

Decide how you will handle archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. If a complete replay matters, do not rely on one uninterrupted day-long broadcast to create it. Consider shorter scheduled sessions and keep local recordings as a backup.
Clear rights for every bhajan and visual
Do not assume that a bhajan is free to rebroadcast because it is devotional, old, available online or attributed to someone else. You are responsible for securing the rights needed for the music and any third-party artwork or other material in the stream. This is a platform requirement, not jurisdiction-specific legal advice.
Get permission that matches the use
Ask the rights holder for written confirmation that the permission covers YouTube livestreaming, the territories where the channel will be available, and the intended duration. If you want to keep livestream archives or monetize the program, confirm that those uses are covered too. Permission for one use does not automatically establish permission for every other use.

Ask about Content ID before broadcasting
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material in another live broadcast. A match can trigger a warning, a placeholder image, an interruption or termination. Even when you have a license, the rights holder may need to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist to prevent an automated interruption. Ask whether allowlisting is required and have it arranged before the first public stream.
Set up the YouTube encoder stream
- Verify eligibility. Confirm the channel is verified, has no live-streaming restriction within YouTube’s preceding 90-day window, and meets the platform’s age requirements.
- Prepare the program. Assemble only recordings and visuals for which you have the necessary rights. Keep written permissions and any Content ID allowlist confirmation accessible to the people operating the channel.
- Create or schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio. Set the title, description and visibility, then obtain the stream URL and key for the encoder. Configure auto-start, auto-stop and DVR to suit your actual operating plan. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Configure the encoder. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and key, select the output settings supported by your encoder and network, and load the rights-cleared playlist or program. The available evidence here does not establish a universal bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval or computer specification for every production. Use the encoder and YouTube guidance applicable to your chosen output rather than copying a guessed preset.
- Run a short test before committing to a long broadcast. Use a private test or a short rights-cleared program. Check that video and audio reach YouTube, levels are usable, the visual loop behaves as intended, the network remains stable, and the encoder can restart as expected. If a replay matters, confirm local recording as well.
- Start the scheduled stream and monitor it. Watch YouTube’s live dashboard for stream health, copyright warnings and required actions. Keep an operator responsible for responding if the stream is interrupted or YouTube identifies third-party material.
- Preserve the program separately if needed. Save local recordings when you need a dependable copy, and use shorter sessions if automatic YouTube archives are important. A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all.
Choose between one continuous stream and shorter sessions
| Approach | Archive implications | Operational trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| One continuous stream longer than 12 hours | YouTube may not capture it at all; retain a local recording if the replay matters. | Fewer planned session starts, but an interruption or restart can affect continuity. |
| Shorter scheduled sessions under 12 hours | Eligible for YouTube’s automatic archiving, though a local backup is still prudent. | More session starts to schedule and monitor; the change between sessions can be visible to viewers. |
There is no universally better schedule. Choose based on whether complete replays, uninterrupted viewer experience, restart effort, moderation workload or local storage matters most for your channel.
Understand monetization before building around it
YouTube applies monetization rules to livestreams, including originality and reused-content review. Copyright clearance and monetization eligibility are separate questions: permission to use a recording does not by itself guarantee that a channel or stream will pass monetization review. Collections of other people’s songs or repetitive, minimally transformed material may not meet the originality requirements.

YouTube describes live ads and eligible fan-funding features, but ad slots are not guaranteed. Creator Music licensing and revenue-sharing guidance applies to long-form videos, not livestreams, so do not treat it as a licensing path for a live bhajan feed.
Equipment and operating costs
For the do-it-yourself encoder method, you need a device capable of running your chosen encoder and a stable connection that can carry its output. No minimum computer specification is established here: the appropriate hardware depends on the encoder, output resolution, bitrate, visual production and reliability needs. Test the actual setup before relying on it for continuous operation.
Also account for the time required to monitor the broadcast, local storage if you keep recordings, and the cost and scope of music permissions. No license vendor or price is established here, so get quotes and confirm the permitted uses directly with rights holders.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping a channel live from uploaded videos: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home, and your computer, OBS setup and home connection do not need to remain running. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera.
Each slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, plus 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping, playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support. The same product is included on every plan; only the billing period changes. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Billing options are a day, a week, a month, six months or a year, with cancellation any time; UPI and cards are available in India and card checkout worldwide. For five or more slots, contact support.
The monthly option is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo for details, then start the free day.

Troubleshoot common problems
YouTube will not let the channel start a livestream
Check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. Also confirm that the operator meets YouTube’s age requirements. Resolve eligibility issues before troubleshooting encoder settings.
The stream is interrupted or replaced with a placeholder
Check the live dashboard for copyright alerts and required actions. A Content ID match can interrupt a stream even when you believe you have permission. Confirm that your permission covers livestreaming and ask the rights holder whether your channel must be allowlisted.
The livestream has no complete YouTube replay
Check the session length. YouTube says streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. For complete archives, plan shorter sessions and keep a local recording rather than depending on a long continuous stream.

The encoder does not send a feed to the scheduled stream
Recheck that the encoder has the stream URL and the correct key for the scheduled YouTube stream, then inspect the dashboard’s stream-health status. Keep the key private; if it may have been exposed, replace it through the stream settings and update the encoder.
The channel is not eligible for monetization despite having music permission
Permission resolves a rights question, not YouTube’s originality or reused-content review. Review whether the program has a distinct original contribution and avoid assuming that a playlist of third-party songs will qualify.
