You can build a 24/7 creek-sounds channel by preparing original or properly licensed audio and visuals, sending them to YouTube through an encoder, and planning for stream sessions to end and restart. YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. A continuous channel concept does not mean one broadcast will run or archive forever.
Plan the sound and visual source
Decide whether the channel will use a recording of a real creek, licensed nature audio, a live camera-and-microphone feed, or a pre-recorded video and sound loop. The simplest approach to automate is usually a prepared audio-and-video file sent through an encoder; a live field feed requires the camera, microphone, power, and network connection to remain available.

Record your own creek audio
Choose a safe recording location and capture enough clean audio to support the listening experience you want. Keep original recordings, dates and location notes, editing project files, and exports. These records help document how the material was made and make it easier to revise a loop or answer questions about rights.
A handheld recorder is one option, not a YouTube requirement. For example, Zoom’s H1essential manual describes XY stereo microphones for field recording, WAV recording at 44.1, 48, or 96 kHz in 32-bit float, and USB microphone use. Those are this model’s specifications, not required livestream settings. Zoom also cautions that placing the recorder directly on a table can introduce reflections and suggests distancing it from the surface, for example with a tripod. Use licensed material carefully
If you use a sound or video library, retain the license and confirm that it covers livestreaming and any archived or monetized use you plan. Do not take another creator’s creek loop and present it as your own. YouTube’s Terms of Service require the necessary rights, while its channel monetization policies assess whether material is original, reused, repetitive, or mass-produced.
Make loops listenable
Listen through transitions with headphones before broadcasting. Check for abrupt changes in creek level, audible loop seams, wind, handling noise, clipping, and unwanted voices. If you add visuals, make sure they match the audio and that you have rights to both. These are practical quality checks rather than YouTube-prescribed settings.

Verify your YouTube channel and confirm that it has no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube lists both as requirements in its live streaming tips.

Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room. Create a stream, or schedule it if you want a forthcoming watch page that viewers can visit and set a reminder for; see YouTube’s stream settings guidance.

Choose the encoder route for a composed audio/video feed. YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions explain how to connect one. A phone or webcam-only workflow is not the same as sending a prepared nature-sounds program through an encoder.

Connect and configure an encoder

In YouTube Live Control Room, obtain the stream server URL and stream key for the event. In your encoder’s streaming settings, paste the URL into the server field and the key into the key field.

Select the prepared audio and visual source, or configure the live camera and microphone if you are broadcasting from the field. Set the output based on the source, computer or encoder capacity, and network you can sustain.

Keep the stream key private: it is a credential that lets an encoder send to your broadcast. Do not place it in a public post, screenshot, or recording. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room before using the stream again.

Start the encoder and wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room. Check it there before making the broadcast public.
YouTube identifies software encoding as an option and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production events. A hardware encoder is not automatically necessary for a simple ambience channel. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not prescribe one best encoder, bitrate, resolution, keyframe interval, or hardware specification for creek sounds, so choose settings your source and connection can reliably sustain rather than treating an unsupported number as a platform rule.

Test the full path before launch
Run an unlisted test and check the complete chain, not just the encoder preview:

Confirm the stream appears in Live Control Room and plays on its YouTube watch page.

Open the watch page on a phone as well as a computer and check that sound is audible and video displays as intended.

If you are recording locally for backup, verify that the local file is being created and growing.

Listen for dropouts, clipping, level changes, wind, handling noise, and loop seams. Watch for frozen or missing visuals.

Monitor the live stream after launch. YouTube recommends continuous stream-quality monitoring; ambient audio can be technically connected while still having distracting faults.
Plan sessions and archives instead of assuming one endless broadcast
YouTube states that streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That does not promise an indefinitely running 24/7 broadcast or archive for one session that runs beyond that duration. Build a schedule and recovery procedure that periodically ends and restarts sessions, and verify the current Live Control Room behavior before relying on a particular cutoff or archive outcome. Keep local recordings if you need your own copy of the source or program.
A planned restart means the channel can remain a continuous listening destination even though individual live sessions have boundaries. Decide who or what will notice a stopped stream, start the next session, and confirm that it is actually live; test that handoff before relying on it overnight.

You cannot start a live stream: Check that the channel is verified and has no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. If either condition is not met, resolve the channel’s eligibility issue before troubleshooting the encoder.

The encoder connects but YouTube shows no incoming feed: Recheck the server URL and stream key in both Live Control Room and the encoder. Confirm the intended source is selected and restart the encoder after correcting the settings.

The preview works, but viewers report no sound: Check the encoder’s audio input and output selection, then listen to the public watch page from another device. A preview alone does not confirm that the audio is present and audible in the delivered stream.

The creek loop has clicks, level jumps, or distracting changes: Inspect the edit around the loop point and listen to a full cycle before replacing the live source. Check source recordings for clipping, wind, or handling noise.

The stream ends or the archive is missing: Treat each session as finite; do not assume one 24/7 session will remain live or be archived indefinitely. Check Live Control Room, your restart procedure, and any local recording, then verify current YouTube behavior before setting an archive-dependent schedule.

A copyright claim or monetization concern appears: Review the rights for every audio and visual element and retain licenses and production records. A long duration or a loop by itself does not establish rights or guarantee monetization.
Understand rights and monetization before investing in a schedule
You need the necessary rights for live and archived material. Keep evidence of your recordings, edits, and licenses; channel-level monetization review considers whether content is original, reused, repetitive, or mass-produced. Repeating the same loop is not a substitute for demonstrating your own creative contribution.
For eligible channels, YouTube lists ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible live monetization options in its live monetization guidance. Eligibility is feature-specific, and ads are not guaranteed to serve in every slot. Do not treat continuous airtime as a promise of earnings.
