In Windows 11, open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display, select the 200Hz monitor if you have multiple screens, and choose 200Hz from the refresh-rate menu if it is available. The information panel on that page shows the selected display’s current resolution and refresh rate. Microsoft notes that the rates offered depend on the display and its supported capabilities. Set the monitor to 200Hz in Windows 11
- Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display.
- If more than one screen is connected, use the display selector to choose the monitor you want to run at 200Hz. Check the screen arrangement or identify the monitor before changing a setting; it is easy to select a laptop panel or a different external display by mistake.
- Open the refresh-rate menu and select 200Hz, if it appears.
- Check the information panel on the same page. Confirm both that the selected display is the intended monitor and that its current refresh rate is reported as 200Hz. Note the resolution shown as well.
Windows only offers refresh rates supported by the display and the current configuration. If 200Hz is absent, this menu does not provide a way to force an unsupported mode. Microsoft Support

What to do if 200Hz is missing
- Verify the selected screen. With multiple displays, the available rates belong to the screen selected in Advanced display, not necessarily the monitor you intend to configure.
- Check the resolution before choosing a starred rate. Microsoft says Windows marks refresh rates that do not support the current resolution with an asterisk. Selecting one changes the display resolution to obtain that refresh rate. Review the resulting resolution and make sure it is suitable for your use. Microsoft Support
- Do not assume a hidden software switch can add 200Hz. If the option is not offered for the selected display, Windows is not exposing it as a supported choice in this configuration.
Windows 10 instructions and support status
The setting path for Windows 10 is also Settings > System > Display > Advanced display. Select the correct screen, choose 200Hz if listed, and check the information panel for the reported rate and resolution. This is legacy guidance: Microsoft says Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. After that date, free Windows Update software updates, technical assistance, and security fixes are no longer provided, although the PC continues to work. Microsoft Support

200Hz mode is not the same as Dynamic Refresh Rate or 200 FPS
Choosing 200Hz in Advanced display selects a display refresh-rate mode; it does not guarantee that a game will render 200 frames per second or that the screen will continuously operate at that rate. Windows 11’s Dynamic Refresh Rate (DRR) is a separate feature that automatically adjusts refresh rate based on activity. Microsoft says DRR requires compatible hardware, variable refresh rate (VRR) support, and a display rate of at least 120Hz; it can also limit maximum refresh rate in some games.
