How to Set Temperature Schedules and Automations for an Aqara Thermostat

First identify the model printed on your thermostat or packaging: Aqara’s Radiator Thermostat W600 and E1 do not have identical published setup details. For the W600, Aqara documents a weekly schedule of up to seven temperature periods, each at least 15 minutes long. You can also use Aqara Home automations or, with compatible equipment, a Matter app—but the available controls depend on the model, connection mode and platform.

Before you set a schedule, check the model and radiator valve

The instructions below use the W600 as the main example because Aqara’s manual specifies its schedule limit and setup requirements. Check the model number before following them; Aqara does not publish the same seven-period limit for the E1. See Aqara’s W600 product page, E1 product page and W600 user manual linked from the W600 product materials for model-specific details.

Confirm that the thermostat fits your radiator valve before installation. The W600 has an M30 × 1.5 threaded connection and Aqara lists six included adapters: RA, RAV, RAVL, Caleffi, Giacomini and M28 × 1.5. The manual identifies W600 models WT-A03D and WT-A03E, powered by two AA batteries. The E1 also has an M30 × 1.5 connection, but its product page lists RA, RAV and RAVL adapters.

Aqara says the E1 works with thermostatic valves; manual valves, return-temperature-limiter valves and monotube radiator systems are unsupported. Check the actual valve and model-specific fit information before buying or fitting a thermostat. If compatibility is unclear, ask an installer or Aqara distributor.

You can also use the W100 wireless sensor (sold separately) for quick one-tap physical control. Perfect for easy changes from the couch, bed, or anywhere in your home.

How do I set a schedule on an Aqara thermostat?

Set up a W600 in Aqara Home

  1. Install the W600 on a compatible radiator valve and power it with two AA batteries.
  2. Make sure you have an Aqara hub that supports the W600 and place the thermostat within the hub’s connection range. Aqara’s manual gives Hub M3 as an example.
  3. Open Aqara Home, tap the plus sign in the upper-right corner of the home page, and select the W600 to add it. If pairing fails, Aqara recommends moving the device closer to the hub and trying again.
  4. Open the thermostat’s schedule controls in the app. App labels and editor steps can differ by model or firmware; follow the controls shown for your device rather than assuming another Aqara model has the same screen.
  5. Set target temperatures for the time periods you want across the days of the week, then check the schedule in the app to confirm the periods and temperatures you intended.

Aqara’s W600 manual says a schedule can set different temperatures for morning, daytime, evening and night on each day of the week. A single schedule supports up to seven periods, and every period must be at least 15 minutes long. The available manual text does not specify the current schedule-editor labels or a complete tap-by-tap sequence.

Use a Matter app instead

For a third-party Matter setup, Aqara’s W600 manual calls for a Matter-compatible app and a Thread border router. Add the thermostat by scanning the Matter QR code on the product or manual, or by entering its setup code. Aqara also describes adding the W600 to Aqara Home first, opening its settings, choosing “Matter Ecosystem” and following the prompts. A third-party app exposes device-specific actions only if its Matter platform supports the documented device types, so its controls may not match Aqara Home.

What the E1 schedule information establishes

Aqara’s E1 product page advertises configurable schedules for periods such as day and night, but it does not state that the E1 supports the W600’s seven-period limit. Use the E1’s own app controls and documentation rather than applying the W600 limit or assuming the editor is identical.

How do I make my Aqara radiator thermostat turn down when I leave?

Schedules set temperatures by time; automations can respond to other Aqara-device conditions. The W600 product page gives two examples: turn the thermostat off if absence is detected for 30 minutes, or set the temperature to 25°C if humidity is at least 70%. These are Aqara’s examples, not universal recommendations. Choose conditions and temperatures that suit your home and the sensors and devices in your setup.

For the E1, Aqara advertises geofencing and weather automations, including starting heat before arrival. It also supports grouping multiple radiators and can use an external temperature reading from a linked Aqara sensor. Aqara lists the Temperature and Humidity Sensor and TVOC Air Quality Monitor as optional sensor sources for E1; the additional sensor is required for that external reading, not for a basic schedule.

The W600 can also use an external room-temperature sensor, but Aqara’s product page says this feature requires Zigbee mode through Aqara Home. Neither an external sensor nor an automation is stated as a requirement for setting a basic W600 schedule.

Why does my Aqara thermostat stop following its schedule?

A manual temperature change may be on hold

The W600 manual says a manual temperature change or preset can have a hold duration. While the hold is active, the manual setting can differ from the scheduled target. When the hold ends, the thermostat follows its schedule again if one exists. If the thermostat appears to have stopped following its schedule, check whether a manual setting or preset is still being held.

Window detection can pause heating

When open-window behavior is enabled on the W600, the manual describes two detection modes. Without a linked door/window sensor, a temperature drop of 3°C within five minutes pauses heating for 30 minutes. With a linked sensor, an open door or window detected for more than three minutes pauses heating for 30 minutes. The W600 can resume normal control after the pause, and window detection can be deactivated on the device. Check which detection mode your setup uses; these are separate triggers, not one combined rule.

Note: Please pull the plastic battery tab out before long-pressing the reset button to start the device. If the device disconnects, please ensure the battery has power. If not, please rotate the temperature sensor to remove the battery cover and replace the battery.

Frost protection is separate from your schedule

Aqara’s W600 manual says frost protection activates heating when the built-in sensor detects 5°C or lower and stops frost protection above 8°C. In Zigbee mode, the setting is adjustable from 5–15°C; in Thread mode, it defaults to 5°C and cannot be adjusted. This describes device behavior, not a substitute for local plumbing or heating advice.
