You can’t set custom Super Chat minimum or maximum amounts in YouTube Studio, according to YouTube’s published creator instructions. Creators can turn Super Chat and Super Stickers on or off; viewers choose how much to purchase in the Super Chat flow. YouTube’s viewer-side display and spending limits are not creator-configurable settings.
What creators can control
YouTube’s documented creator controls cover enabling or disabling Supers, not setting custom minimum or maximum purchase amounts. The amount selection happens on the viewer’s side. YouTube’s official creator guidance does not publish an adjustable creator-side amount range or a complete selectable range by currency. YouTube’s Super Chat and Super Stickers guidance and its instructions for turning Supers on or off describe those controls.
If a control appears in your current account interface that seems to set amount bounds, check YouTube’s current guidance and verify what it controls before relying on it; the published instructions cited here do not establish such a setting.
How to turn Super Chat and Super Stickers on
- Open the YouTube Studio mobile app.
- Tap Earn at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap the Supers card. If it is not shown, find the Supers section, tap Get started, then tap Turn on.
- If prompted, follow the on-screen steps to sign the Commerce Product Module.
Once enabled, Supers can appear on eligible live streams and Premieres. If a third party administers your channel rights, YouTube advises consulting them before enabling Supers. See the official setup steps.

How viewers choose an amount—and what the limits mean
On a computer, a viewer opens the dollar-sign control in a visible live chat, selects Super Chat, then drags the slider or types an amount, optionally adds a message, and selects Buy and send. That is a viewer purchase choice, not a creator setting. Color and pin duration vary with the amount.
- Ticker visibility: purchases below US$5 or the local equivalent do not appear in the ticker. This is a display threshold, not a creator-set minimum.
- Viewer spending limits: YouTube lists combined limits of up to US$2,000 per day and US$8,000 per week across Jewels, Super Chats, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. These are aggregate viewer limits, not a creator-set maximum for a channel.
The figures and purchase steps above are from YouTube’s computer purchase instructions; the page does not state a year for those limits. YouTube’s creator documentation does not establish a full selectable amount range across currencies.

Why the Supers option may be missing or unavailable
Availability depends on creator eligibility, location, and compliance with YouTube’s applicable terms and policies, including the Commerce Product Module. Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable on age-restricted, unlisted, private, Made for Kids, and YouTube Giving fundraiser videos. They are also unavailable when live chat or comments are turned off. Check YouTube’s eligibility, availability, and policy guidance if the option is absent or a particular stream cannot use Supers.
YouTube describes Supers as fan-funding features, not crowdfunding or donation tools, and says creators are responsible for complying with applicable laws. For revenue, YouTube says creators receive 70% of Supers revenue confirmed by Google, calculated after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees; YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including credit-card fees.
