To set a YouTube music playlist’s saved order, open it in YouTube Studio on a desktop and drag videos into the sequence you want. That sets the playlist’s order—not a priority score or the schedule for a separate 24/7 live broadcast. If your channel is continuously live, the encoder or playout system sending the feed controls what viewers hear and in what order.
Set the saved order of a YouTube playlist
YouTube documents manual reordering of playlist videos, but not a weighted priority feature. To choose which track appears first and what follows it, edit the playlist itself:

- Sign in to YouTube Studio on a desktop.
- Open Content → Playlists and find the playlist you want to change.
- Open its menu and choose Edit on YouTube.
- In the playlist editor, drag videos up or down to set the intended sequence.
When creating a playlist in Studio, YouTube also offers an arrangement choice before you add videos and create it. For a new channel playlist, choose the arrangement that matches your intent; for a precise editorial sequence, review the resulting order and drag items as needed.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsChoose an order that suits the listening session
YouTube enables the ordering; it does not prescribe a best sequence for music. As an editorial choice, you might open with the mood you want the channel to signal, group tracks into coherent blocks, and plan transitions between quieter and more energetic sections. These are programming decisions, not YouTube priority settings.

What playlist priority does—and does not—control
The saved order is the playlist’s sequence. YouTube’s cited playlist guidance does not describe a priority score, rotation weight, hourly scheduler, automatic queue refresh, or a rule that tracks near the top will play more often. A public playlist is useful for organizing videos for viewers, but its order alone does not establish the sequence of a separately encoded live feed.
Also distinguish the playlist owner’s saved order from a viewer’s temporary playback order. A viewer can rearrange items in the playlist panel on the watch page without changing the channel’s stored sequence. YouTube says reordering is unavailable for playlists containing only Shorts; that limitation is relevant if the playlist consists entirely of Shorts, rather than standard music videos. See YouTube’s playlist help.

YouTube also offers a viewer-side option to loop a playlist during playback. That repeats playlist playback on YouTube; it is not documented as an encoder control or as a scheduler for an external live stream. See the YouTube playlist-looping guide.

An encoder-based broadcast is different from playback of a YouTube playlist. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes sending a live feed to YouTube: configure the encoder with YouTube’s server URL and stream key, start sending the content, wait for the preview, then go live in Live Control Room. In this arrangement, the encoder or playout system supplies the broadcast. The playlist sequence saved on YouTube is not documented as controlling that feed.

Set the order, looping, and any schedule in the particular encoder or playout system that creates your live program. Check its own instructions to learn whether it can use a YouTube playlist, how it handles changes to a source playlist, and whether a queue can be edited while live. YouTube’s documentation does not establish one behavior for every third-party system, so do not assume changing the public playlist will refresh or reorder an active broadcast.
Keep delivery and editorial order as separate checks
A correctly ordered playlist does not verify that a live feed is reaching YouTube. YouTube advises creators to test the stream and monitor stream health. Its encoder settings guide covers encoder settings; its live settings guide covers live-stream settings such as protocol, latency, and auto-start or auto-stop. Treat playlist order as an editorial task, then verify the live feed separately in the encoder and Live Control Room.

Know the archive limitation for long broadcasts
YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours will be automatically archived. Its guidance does not give the same assurance for streams lasting 12 hours or more, so do not count on one continuous 24/7 broadcast producing a complete replay. See the encoder setup guide.

Common playlist and live-feed problems
- A track appears in the wrong place in the playlist: check the saved order in the playlist editor and drag the video to the intended position. A viewer may also have changed their own watch-page order, which does not alter yours.
- The live broadcast does not follow the YouTube playlist: confirm which system is actually supplying the feed. Configure sequencing and looping in that encoder or playout tool unless its documentation explicitly describes playlist synchronization.
- The playlist order looks right, but the stream is unhealthy: check the encoder’s connection and settings, then inspect stream health in Live Control Room. Playlist order does not diagnose delivery.
- You expect a full replay of a day-long stream: YouTube only makes the automatic-archive statement for streams under 12 hours. Plan recording and replay needs accordingly rather than assuming the continuous broadcast will be archived in full.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded music videos playing as an always-on YouTube stream, StreamNeo is a cloud option: upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the uploaded videos without requiring a computer, OBS, or home internet connection to stay on.
