For YouTube Live at 4K/2160p and 60 fps, set OBS to 50,000 Kbps for H.264 or 35,000 Kbps for AV1 or H.265, if your OBS version and encoder support the codec. Use CBR and a 2-second keyframe interval. YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload headroom, which works out to about 60 Mbps of stable available upload for the H.264 setting or 42 Mbps for AV1/H.265. Those are planning targets—not advertised download speeds or guarantees from Indian fiber providers.
Recommended OBS settings for YouTube Live at 4K 60fps
YouTube’s live ingest recommendations distinguish between codecs. Choose the bitrate for the codec you will actually send; do not select a lower AV1 or H.265 value unless your OBS setup and hardware encoder offer it and perform reliably.

The bitrate recommendations are from YouTube Help, accessed in 2026; the page does not display a publication date. The upload targets are arithmetic planning calculations applying YouTube’s 20% headroom guidance to the video bitrate, not separate thresholds published by YouTube. Audio, a backup stream, and other network use require additional capacity. YouTube’s live encoder settings list its ingest recommendations.

Set bitrate, rate control and keyframes in OBS
- Open OBS’s streaming output settings. The exact menu labels vary by OBS version. Select the encoder and codec available on your computer, and confirm which codec it sends to YouTube.
- Choose rate control and bitrate. Set rate control to CBR. Enter 50,000 Kbps for H.264 or 35,000 Kbps for AV1/H.265.
- Set the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. YouTube says the interval should not exceed 4 seconds. YouTube lists 60 fps as the maximum frame rate and recommends RTMPS as the secure streaming protocol.
- Check the complete stream before relying on it. Test the actual scene—including motion and audio—and monitor OBS statistics and YouTube stream health. A speed test cannot establish that the connection will stay stable for an entire event.
Encoder controls depend on the OBS version and hardware. For example, OBS’s official NVENC guide describes the controls for its NVENC implementation; not every user will see identical fields.

How much upload speed does 4K 60fps streaming need?
YouTube recommends keeping about 20% room between the stream bitrate and available upload bandwidth. Applying that guidance gives approximate targets of 60 Mbps for a 50 Mbps H.264 video stream and 42 Mbps for a 35 Mbps AV1/H.265 video stream. These calculations start with video bitrate; add room for audio, a configured backup stream, and other devices or people using the connection.
Measure sustained upload available to the streaming computer, not the plan’s advertised download speed. YouTube notes that download can be faster than outbound upload and that shared network use can reduce bandwidth available to a stream. If you configure a backup stream, include the primary and backup bitrates in your capacity calculation. YouTube advises: “We recommend running a speed test to test your upload bitrate.” See its guidance on upload bandwidth and stream health.

Test the connection you will actually use
- Run upload tests from the streaming computer, preferably over a wired connection, and repeat them near the time you expect to stream.
- Check household or office usage during the test; another device’s activity can affect the available upload.
- Use OBS and YouTube stream-health indicators during a rehearsal. A single speed-test result is not proof of sustained stability.
What “fiber broadband” means for an Indian streamer
The relevant figure is the upload bandwidth that remains stable at your location and at your streaming time. The available evidence does not establish a single India-wide fiber upload speed or provider guarantee. Do not assume a plan is symmetric or that an advertised rate will continuously be available to OBS; provider, plan, location and current network conditions matter. Wired testing can help determine whether the local Wi-Fi link is unreliable, but a cable cannot increase the upload capacity supplied by your ISP.

Troubleshooting bitrate and stream-health problems
