To set a Google Flights price alert, search your route and dates, choose your passenger count, cabin and stops, then switch on Track prices. Sign in to your Google Account so Google can save the tracker and send email updates. If your dates are flexible, choose Any dates instead; Google then watches the route’s minimum fare over a month rather than one fixed itinerary.
What Google Flights price alerts do
Google Flights monitors a route or a selected itinerary after you turn on Track prices. When Google detects a significant fare change, it can email you. The service may also warn that a tracked fare is likely to become more expensive or that the current fare is expiring and its replacement is likely to cost more. Those messages can include an estimated increase and Google’s confidence in that estimate.

An alert is a notification, not a reservation. The fare, baggage rules, change conditions and payment details must still be checked on the airline’s website or on your preferred booking platform before you buy. Google’s cited guidance does not promise that a quoted price or seat will remain available.

What you need before creating an alert
- Your origin and destination airports or cities.
- Travel dates, unless you intend to monitor the route with Any dates.
- The number of stops you will accept.
- Cabin class.
- The number of tickets or passengers.
- A Google Account. Sign-in is required to save price tracking and receive alerts.
Decide first whether you need one exact itinerary or the lowest fare on the route. That choice determines whether you use fixed-date tracking or Any dates.

How to set a fixed-date Google Flights alert
Fixed-date tracking is the precise option when your departure and return dates are set. It follows the search you configure rather than monitoring an entire month for the lowest possible day.
- Open Google Flights.
- Enter your origin, destination and trip dates.
- Set the number of stops, cabin class and number of tickets.
- Run the search and review the results.
- Turn on Track prices for the route and dates.
- If you want to watch one particular itinerary, select that flight first and turn on tracking for the selected flight.
- Sign in to your Google Account if prompted. Without sign-in, Google cannot save the tracker for alerts.
Tracking the route gives you updates for the configured search. Tracking an individual flight narrows the watch to that itinerary, which is useful when departure time, airline or connection pattern matters as much as price.
How to track a trip when your dates are flexible
Use Any dates when you can move your trip. This setting watches the route’s minimum price over a month instead of one chosen departure-and-return combination.
- Open Google Flights and enter your origin and destination.
- Choose the passenger count, cabin and acceptable number of stops.
- Open the date controls and select Any dates.
- Turn on price tracking for the route.
- Sign in to your Google Account so the tracker can be saved and emails can be delivered.
Google says an Any dates tracker sends an email when the route’s minimum price drops significantly over a month. If there is no significant drop, Google says it sends a regular email with the best available prices. Because the tracker is route-level, you must still choose dates and an itinerary that work for you when an email arrives.

How to choose the right tracking scope
Track the route
Route tracking is the broad option. It follows the search criteria you entered, such as the cities, dates, cabin, passenger count and stop preference. It is appropriate when you are willing to consider different flights that meet those criteria.
Track one flight
Choose a specific result before enabling tracking when you need to follow one itinerary. This keeps the alert focused on the flight you selected instead of every qualifying result in the search.
Use Any dates
Select Any dates when the month-level minimum fare is more important than a specific day. Expect to make the final date and flight decision yourself after the alert.

A price alert is not limited to good news. Google says a tracked route can generate an email when prices change significantly. It may also notify you when its systems indicate that a fare is likely to rise or when the current fare is expiring and the replacement is likely to cost more.

- Significant price change: the tracked fare has moved enough for Google to send an update.
- Likely increase: Google believes waiting may result in a higher price.
- Expiring fare: the current fare is ending and the next available fare is likely to be more expensive.
- Estimated increase and confidence: some warnings include the expected increase and Google’s confidence in that estimate.
- Any dates update: the route’s monthly minimum has dropped significantly, or Google is sending its regular best-price email when no such drop has occurred.
These are estimates and notifications, not guarantees. Treat an increase warning as a reason to review the fare promptly, not as proof that every airline will raise its price or that a lower fare cannot appear later.
Where to change or stop alerts
- Open Tracked Flights.
- Choose the saved route or flight you want to manage.
- Use the notification control to turn email updates on or off.
- Choose Remove when you no longer want Google to track that route or flight.
Turning notifications off keeps the tracker saved but stops its email updates, while Remove stops the tracking itself. If you want to monitor the trip again later, create a new tracker with the current route, dates and preferences.
What to do when a price alert arrives
- Open the alert and note whether it concerns a route, a specific flight or an Any dates search.
- Check the travel dates, departure and arrival airports, stop count, cabin and passenger count.
- Open the fare details and compare the complete price, including baggage and any other required fees shown by the booking provider.
- Read the change, cancellation and refund rules before entering payment details.
- Continue to the airline’s website or your preferred booking platform to complete the purchase.
- Confirm the final total and the exact itinerary on the provider’s payment page.
Google identifies the airline website and a preferred booking platform as the places where the transaction is completed. The alert itself does not book the ticket.
Using Google’s newer AI Mode flight tracking
On August 27, 2026, Google announced that AI Mode can set up flight-price tracking after you confirm. Google says this feature sends an email when prices change and is available in more than 180 countries and territories.

The confirmation step matters: AI Mode does not silently create a tracker on the basis of an unconfirmed suggestion. Once tracking is set up, use the same care as with a standard Google Flights alert. Review the exact route and dates, then verify the final fare and conditions with the airline or booking provider. Availability can vary by country or territory, so the standard Google Flights workflow remains the dependable route when AI Mode tracking is not offered for your account.

No emails are arriving
- Confirm that you are signed in to the Google Account used to create the tracker.
- Open Tracked Flights and check that email notifications are switched on for the saved route.
- Verify that the tracker was not removed.
- For an Any dates search, remember that Google describes significant monthly drops and regular best-price messages; it is not a promise of an email for every small movement.
The alert is for the wrong trip
Open the saved tracker and inspect the route, dates, passenger count, cabin and stop setting. If the search was created with the wrong criteria, remove it and create a new tracker rather than relying on an alert for a different itinerary.
The price changed after opening the alert
Airfares can change between an email and the booking page. Recheck the final fare, baggage, change rules and payment total on the provider’s page. Do not treat the email’s figure as a guaranteed purchase price.

You expected a specific flight but received route updates
Route tracking can cover qualifying results. To focus on one itinerary, return to the search, select that flight and enable tracking for the selected flight.
You want to stop messages temporarily
In Tracked Flights, open the route and turn email notifications off. Use Remove only when you want to end the tracker rather than pause its messages.
A practical alert strategy
When dates cannot move
Enter the required dates, set realistic stop and cabin preferences, and track the route. If the timing or airline is critical, select the exact flight and track that itinerary instead.
When price is the priority
Use Any dates, keep the route and passenger details accurate, and review the monthly minimum-price email when it arrives. Be prepared to choose dates quickly if the fare meets your budget.

Create the tracker that matches the decision you will actually make. Fixed-date tracking gives you a narrower signal for a committed schedule; Any dates gives you a broader price signal but requires a second decision about dates and flights.
