Use repeat or expiry controls when available. An alert is a reminder to review your plan—not a buy or sell instruction.
Choose a level that connects to a decision
Before entering a price, decide what you would review if Bitcoin reached it. If the notification would not lead you to check a specific plan or condition, you may not need that alert. A round-number price or a level that matters to you can be convenient, but there is no universally correct alert count, percentage move, or buffer established by the platform documentation.

Price alerts notify you when a condition is met; they do not predict what happens next. Coinbase explicitly says its alerts do not place orders. Treat a notification as a prompt to look at the situation, not as a recommendation or an automatic trade.

Set an alert in the service you use
Coinbase mobile app
- Search for Bitcoin and select it.
- Tap the star icon to add Bitcoin to your watchlist. Coinbase says only watchlisted assets send price alerts.
- Tap the bell-plus icon, then choose Add Alert.
- Choose whether the price should move above or below your target, then enter the target price.
- Save the alert.
- To configure delivery, open Account & Settings → Notification Settings and adjust the available Price Alerts or Custom Alerts channels. You can delete alerts from notification settings.

Kraken Pro
On Kraken Pro web, open the Alerts widget, enable browser notifications, create an alert, select the market and trigger parameters, then enter a price or use a percentage adjustment from the current market price. Review, edit, or delete alerts in the widget.
On mobile, enable push notifications in both your device settings and Kraken Pro. Open the price-alert modal from the Markets page or from an open market or order. Kraken’s support page, updated January 20, 2026, says Futures price alerts cannot currently be set in the app. A Futures alert created on web can still be delivered to mobile if push notifications are enabled, although the notification may not open the correct market page. Check Kraken’s current Market Alerts instructions for changes.

TradingView
Open the Bitcoin chart and create a price alert. For a threshold, choose the Price condition and select the trigger that matches your intent:
- Crossing triggers when price crosses the level in either direction.
- Crossing up or Greater than triggers on an upward move through or above the level.
- Crossing down or Less than triggers on a downward move through or below the level.
TradingView offers trigger-frequency options such as once, every time, once per bar close, or once per minute, along with an expiry date or an open-ended setting where available. Delivery choices include app notification, pop-up, email, webhook, and sound. Plan limits can affect how many alerts you can keep active. Reduce alerts that pull you back to the chart
- Use a directional trigger. If you only care about a move below a price, choose a downward condition rather than one that fires in either direction.
- Limit repeats. Where the service offers a frequency control, choose one that avoids repeated prompts you do not need.
- Set an expiry for temporary alerts. Remove the alert automatically when its purpose has passed, if that option is available.
- Keep the wording neutral. A label such as “Review plan” describes a next step without turning a notification into “Buy now” or “Sell now.”
- Use only useful channels. Disable redundant delivery methods and remove alerts that no longer serve a purpose.
These are practical ways to make alerts less intrusive, not a proven behavioral formula. The reviewed platform documentation does not establish a universal threshold or show that a particular alert setup prevents overreaction.

Alert support and delivery depend on the service, product, and device. Coinbase requires Bitcoin to be on your watchlist; Kraken requires the relevant browser or push permissions; TradingView provides condition, frequency, expiry, and delivery choices subject to plan limits.
