You can set a BTC price alert in a few minutes on Binance, Coinbase, or Kraken, but each exchange puts the controls in a different place. Binance offers the broadest set of trigger types and documented alert caps; Coinbase requires Bitcoin to be on a watchlist; Kraken separates web, mobile, and futures behavior. In every case, an alert is only a notification—it does not submit a buy or sell order.
What a Bitcoin price alert does—and does not do
A price alert watches a selected Bitcoin market and notifies you when the condition you chose is met. Depending on the exchange, that condition can be a fixed price, a move above or below a threshold, a percentage change, or a 24-hour change. The notification may appear as a push message, an in-app notice, an email, or a desktop/browser alert.

An alert is not an order. Coinbase states that its alerts are “only notifications that an asset has reached a certain price” and “do not place an order for that asset.” Binance and Kraken also present alerts as market notifications rather than trade instructions. If you want to buy or sell, you must open the trading screen and place an order yourself (or use a separate order type such as a limit order).

Before creating one, decide which market you mean. BTC/USDT, BTC/USD, BTC/EUR, and other pairs can have different quoted prices. Select the exact pair you intend to monitor instead of assuming that a Bitcoin alert on one market applies identically to every currency pair.

How to set a Bitcoin alert on Binance
In the Binance mobile app
- Switch to Binance Pro. Binance documents app alerts as a Binance Pro feature. If the app is in another mode, open the profile or mode switcher and select Pro.
- Open Markets. Search for Bitcoin and select the trading pair you want to monitor, such as BTC/USDT.
- Tap the Alert icon. On the pair’s market page, open the alert control.
- Choose the alert type. Binance lists conditions including price reaches, rises above, drops to, percentage change, and 24-hour change. Select the condition that matches your plan rather than treating every alert as a simple fixed-price trigger.
- Enter the target and frequency. Type the price, percentage, or other value requested by the form, then choose how often the condition may notify you.
- Create the alert. Confirm the settings and save.
- Allow phone notifications. In the phone’s system settings, open the Binance app’s notification permissions and enable alerts. Without operating-system permission, an alert can exist in Binance but remain invisible on the device.
Binance Support describes an alert as a way to stay informed when “a certain price or condition is met.” Its FAQ was published on February 17, 2022 and updated January 6, 2026. The same FAQ documents an operational maximum of 10 alerts for one trading pair, 50 alerts across all pairs, and a 90-day validity period for each alert. These are platform limits, not guarantees that a market will reach your target within that time.
In the Binance desktop app
- Open the Alerts area.
- Select Create Alert.
- Choose the market or trading pair.
- Select the alert type and frequency, then enter the target.
- Create the alert and confirm it appears in the alerts list.
- Enable Binance desktop notifications in your computer’s system preferences.
The desktop workflow is separate from browser notifications: allowing alerts in a web browser does not automatically grant the Binance desktop app permission, and vice versa.

Managing Binance alerts
Review your active alerts after creating them, especially when you have several pairs. Remove expired or irrelevant alerts so you do not run into the 50-alert total. Because Binance states that alerts last 90 days, recreate a long-term reminder after it expires rather than assuming it remains permanent.
How to set a custom Bitcoin alert on Coinbase
Create the alert in the mobile app
- Search for Bitcoin. Open the Coinbase mobile app and search for Bitcoin.
- Add it to a watchlist. Select the star to place Bitcoin on a watchlist. Coinbase says only watchlisted assets send price alerts, so this step is required for delivery.
- Open the alert control. Tap the bell-plus icon.
- Choose Add Alert. Select whether the target should be above or below the current price.
- Enter the target price. Type the level at which you want Coinbase to notify you.
- Save. Confirm the alert.
Choose how Coinbase notifies you
- Open Account & Settings.
- Select Notification Settings.
- Choose Price Alerts for Coinbase’s predetermined alerts or Custom Alerts for alerts you created.
- Enable one or more delivery methods: push, in-app, and/or email.
Push delivery also depends on permission in the phone’s operating-system settings. If you enable an option inside Coinbase but block notifications at the system level, the phone cannot display the push message. Email and in-app delivery are separate choices, so select the channels you will actually check.
Delete or change a Coinbase alert
Open the relevant alert settings and use the three-dot menu next to the alert. From there, remove the alert you no longer need. If you want a different threshold, deleting the old entry and creating a new one avoids leaving two conflicting targets active.

What Coinbase’s alert wording means
Coinbase describes price alerts as notifications that an asset has reached a certain price. They do not reserve funds, open a position, or place an order. When the message arrives, you still need to review the market and submit a trade manually if that is your decision.
How to set a Bitcoin alert on Kraken
Kraken Pro on the web
- Open Kraken Pro’s Advanced view. The Alerts widget is available there. If it is missing, add it through Layouts & widgets or the widget menu.
- Allow browser notifications. Enable notifications in the browser and accept the permission prompt for Kraken. Blocking that prompt prevents browser alerts even when the widget is configured correctly.
- Create a new alert. In the Alerts widget, choose the option to create one.
- Select the market and trigger parameters. Pick the Bitcoin market and the condition offered by the widget.
- Enter the price. Type a target or adjust it with the percentage buttons provided by Kraken.
- Save the alert. Confirm that it appears under active alerts.
The widget keeps active and historical alerts. Active alerts can be edited or deleted, which lets you correct a target without rebuilding your entire layout.
Kraken Pro on iOS or Android
- Enable push notifications twice. First allow notifications for Kraken Pro in the phone’s iOS or Android settings. Then open Kraken Pro’s own notification settings and enable push alerts there.
- Open the alert modal. Tap the bell on the Markets screen, or long-tap an open order or market.
- Select Create new alert.
- Choose the market, trigger parameters, and price.
- Create the alert. Check the active-alert list to verify it was saved.
Kraken futures limitation
Kraken says futures alerts cannot currently be set in the app. You can create a futures alert on the web. If mobile push notifications are enabled, that web-created futures alert may still produce a mobile notification, but the message will not link to the appropriate market page in the same way a spot alert does.

Kraken Desktop synchronization
Kraken’s support information says alerts created in Kraken Desktop sync across Kraken Pro and the mobile apps. Even with synchronization, verify notification permissions on each device you expect to use; synchronization of the alert record does not replace local permission settings.

An alert can be correctly saved yet appear to fail because delivery is disabled. Check the relevant layer for your exchange:
- Binance mobile: Binance Pro alerts must be allowed in the phone’s system notification settings.
- Binance desktop: Enable desktop notifications in the computer’s system preferences.
- Coinbase: Select Price Alerts or Custom Alerts in Account & Settings > Notification Settings, then choose push, in-app, and/or email. Also allow push notifications in the phone’s system settings.
- Kraken web: Allow browser notifications when the permission prompt appears. If you previously blocked it, change the site permission in the browser settings.
- Kraken mobile: Turn on push notifications both in iOS/Android settings and inside Kraken Pro.
Keep the exchange app signed in where required and check that your device is connected. Notification delivery can be affected by disabled permissions, battery restrictions, offline devices, or an expired alert, even when the market condition was reached.
Alert versus order: choose the right tool

Do not treat an alert notification as confirmation that an order filled. It only tells you that the selected condition generated a notification.
Troubleshooting by symptom
No notification arrived
- Confirm the alert is still active and, on Binance, has not passed its 90-day validity period.
- Check phone, desktop, or browser permissions for the correct app or site.
- On Coinbase, verify that Bitcoin is still starred on a watchlist and that the relevant Price Alerts or Custom Alerts channel is enabled.
- On Kraken mobile, check both device-level and Kraken Pro push settings; on web, check browser permission.
- Verify that you selected the intended trading pair and that its condition, not a different pair’s price, was met.
The alert exists but the target looks wrong
Edit the active alert where the exchange provides that control. Kraken supports editing active alerts in its widget. On Coinbase, use the alert’s three-dot menu to remove the old target and create a corrected one. On Binance, review the pair, condition, target, and frequency, and delete duplicates if necessary.
You expected an automatic trade
That expectation is the most important misunderstanding to fix: alerts do not submit orders. Open the trading interface and place an order only after checking the market and your intended execution method.
You cannot find the alert control
- Binance app: switch to Binance Pro, then open Markets and the trading pair.
- Kraken web: use Kraken Pro Advanced view and add the Alerts widget through Layouts & widgets if it is hidden.
- Kraken mobile: use the bell on Markets or long-tap an open order or market.
- Coinbase: use the mobile app, search for Bitcoin, star it, and open the bell-plus icon.
A practical setup checklist
- Choose the exact BTC quote pair and target condition.
- Set the alert in the exchange interface that supports it: Binance Pro app or desktop app, Coinbase mobile app, or Kraken web/mobile/Desktop.
- Enable the exchange’s notification channel and the operating-system or browser permission it depends on.
- Confirm the saved alert, target, pair, and status in the active-alert list.
- Record any platform limit that affects longevity: Binance’s 90-day expiry and alert caps, Coinbase’s watchlist requirement, or Kraken’s futures-app restriction.
- When notified, treat the message as a prompt to review the market—not as an executed order.
Which exchange workflow fits your need?
Choose Binance when you need documented percentage or 24-hour movement conditions in addition to price thresholds and are comfortable managing alert caps and 90-day expiry. Choose Coinbase when a straightforward above-or-below custom target in a mobile app is enough and you are willing to keep Bitcoin on a watchlist. Choose Kraken when you want alerts available from an Advanced web widget, mobile modal, or synchronized desktop setup, while noting the separate handling of futures alerts.
Whichever exchange you use, the reliable setup is the same in principle: select the correct market, define one unambiguous condition, verify the alert is active, and test every notification permission your device or browser requires.
