The most reliable method is to use Formula 1’s official race-calendar page: select Add F1 calendar, subscribe or import it in your phone’s calendar, then turn on an event alert. Check the next race entry afterward so you know its time zone, calendar assignment and reminder are correct.
How to add the official F1 calendar
Use the live Formula 1 schedule rather than copying dates from an old race list. Open Formula 1’s official 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship Race Calendar page in your phone browser. Find the Add F1 calendar control and select it.

- Open the calendar prompt. Your browser may hand the schedule to the calendar app associated with your phone, ask which account should receive it, or download an
.icscalendar file. The exact prompt depends on your operating system, browser and calendar provider. - Choose subscribe or import. If the prompt offers a subscription, prefer that for a schedule that can receive later changes. If it opens an
.icsfile, choose your calendar app and confirm the import or subscription. An imported file can behave like a one-time copy, while a subscribed feed is designed to refresh. - Allow calendar access when asked. If the phone asks which account or calendar should contain the events, select the account you normally use for race reminders. If you dismiss the prompt, repeat the Add F1 calendar action and complete the permission step.
- Enable alerts for the new calendar. Adding events does not always mean that notifications are enabled. Open the calendar app’s settings, select the F1 calendar or its event-notification section, and turn alerts on.
- Open the next race event. Confirm the displayed start time, time zone, calendar name and alert. Make a small test adjustment only if necessary, then leave the official event intact so future changes are not accidentally overwritten.
Formula 1’s page does not expose every device-specific prompt in its web text, so an iPhone, Android phone and different calendar accounts may show different confirmation screens. The important result is a visible F1 calendar in your calendar app with an alert attached to the race event.

Set the reminder on an iPhone
Apple documents calendar accounts and default alerts in the Calendar settings. Menu names can change slightly between iOS releases, but the documented route is:

- Open Settings > Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts.
- Check that the account where you added the F1 calendar is present and enabled for Calendars. If you subscribed without an account, make sure the subscribed calendar itself is visible in the Calendar app.
- Return to Settings > Apps > Calendar and open Default Alert Times.
- Choose a default alert for Events, and separately for All-Day Events if the schedule contains all-day entries. Select the lead time that suits you, such as a reminder well before the race; the choices shown are the ones supported by your iOS version.
- Open the Calendar app, tap the next Grand Prix, and inspect its individual alert. A subscribed event can retain its own alert even when you change a default, so edit the event itself if the reminder is missing or unsuitable.
Apple’s instructions do not promise that changing a default alert will bulk-edit every event in every imported or subscribed calendar. Treat the default as a setting for eligible new events and verify the actual race entry. If the calendar account does not support Push updates, Apple says it may update on a Fetch schedule; a schedule change therefore may not appear immediately.
Set the reminder on Android
Android phones use different calendar apps and manufacturer interfaces, so there is no single universal path. The following workflow applies whether the calendar is built into the phone or supplied by a calendar service:
- Complete Add F1 calendar on the official Formula 1 schedule page.
- When Android offers an app or account, select the calendar you use for personal events and accept the subscription or
.icsimport. - Open the calendar app’s main menu and enter Settings. Look for Calendars, Subscribed calendars, or Event notifications.
- Make sure the F1 calendar is visible and that notifications are enabled. Some apps have a separate phone-level permission under Settings > Notifications; allow notifications for the calendar app there as well.
- Tap the next race, check its time zone and alert, and save any event-specific reminder. If the app offers a choice between a subscribed calendar and an imported file, record which one you selected so you know whether later changes should arrive automatically.
Labels differ among Android versions, calendar providers and phone manufacturers. If you cannot find a calendar-specific notification switch, use the app’s search or help screen for “calendar notifications,” then verify the individual event rather than assuming the device accepted the alert.

Choose a useful alert time and verify the time zone
A race reminder is only useful if it arrives before the formation lap, not at the scheduled start. Open the event and set an alert with enough time for your routine. The exact choices are supplied by your calendar app; do not assume that every provider offers the same intervals.
- Check the event’s time zone. Formula 1 sessions are scheduled in local venue time. Your phone normally converts an event to its current time zone, so a race can appear at a different clock time when you travel. Open the event details and confirm that the conversion is plausible.
- Check daylight-saving changes. A venue and your home location may change clocks on different dates. A subscribed event with an explicit time zone is safer than a manually typed local time.
- Check the calendar color and account. Seeing the event in the wrong account can make it appear to vanish when that account is hidden or signed out.
- Check the phone’s notification permission. Calendar alerts can be blocked globally, during a Focus or Do Not Disturb mode, or by battery-saving restrictions.
After checking the next race, open another event later in the season. This catches a mistaken one-time import, an incorrect account and a time-zone problem before the weekend you care about.

A third-party guide from When’s the Race describes feed subscription and downloadable .ics options for Google, Apple and Outlook calendars. That guide is not Formula 1’s official calendar, so use it only as a platform-setup reference. Its schedule should never override the live official page. If the official Add F1 calendar control offers a subscription, use that first.
Keep the calendar current when Formula 1 changes a schedule
Race weekends can move because of operational, weather or logistical decisions. A subscribed calendar can receive an amended event when its provider publishes an update, but neither the Formula 1 page nor Apple’s settings guide promises an identical refresh time on every phone.
- Open the official schedule page before each race weekend and compare the listed date and start time with your phone event.
- Pull to refresh the calendar app, or use its refresh command, if the two differ.
- Check whether the event came from a subscription or a one-time import. Imported events require a new import or manual correction when the source changes.
- Review the alert after an update. A changed event can keep, remove or replace an event-specific alert depending on the provider.
Do not replace a current event with dates copied from an older announcement. Formula 1’s September 16, 2025 announcement described a 24-race 2026 campaign running from Australia on March 6–8 to Abu Dhabi on December 4–6, with start times stated in local venue time. That was an announcement-era plan, not proof of the schedule currently displayed online.

What the current 2026 page means for your reminder
The official schedule page checked on October 13, 2026 listed the United States Grand Prix as the next event, October 23–25, and displayed 23 rounds. It also showed the label “Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.” The earlier announcement described 24 races and placed Bahrain in April. Because those records conflict, do not publish or rely on a complete season list from the older announcement or an unrelated calendar.
For a reminder, this discrepancy has a practical consequence: always use the live official page when adding the calendar, and recheck it immediately before an important weekend. A phone calendar can be perfectly configured yet still contain an outdated event if its source was a static list.

Remind yourself about practice, qualifying and sprint sessions
The official Add F1 calendar control is the primary source for the championship schedule, but the web page does not state in its accessible text exactly which session types every device receives. If you need practice, qualifying and sprint notifications as well as the Grand Prix, inspect the events after subscribing and confirm that those sessions are present.

A dedicated app can offer finer session selection. An App Store listing for Formula Calendar 2026 describes selectable sessions and alerts ranging from one hour to session start, but it labels the app unofficial and unaffiliated with Formula One companies. Treat those as the developer’s feature claims, not as an official Formula 1 guarantee. Compare its event times with the official schedule before relying on it.

Troubleshooting: when the reminder does not appear
The calendar was added but no notification arrived
- Open the event and confirm that an alert is listed; visibility alone does not prove an alert exists.
- Enable notifications for the calendar app in the phone’s system settings.
- Check Focus, Do Not Disturb, sleep modes and battery restrictions.
- Verify that the F1 calendar itself is selected for display and notifications.
The event time is wrong
- Inspect the event’s time-zone field and the phone’s automatic date-and-time setting.
- Compare the event with the local-venue time shown by the official schedule.
- Do not manually shift a subscribed event unless you are certain the source omitted its time zone; a manual shift can be undone by the next feed update.
The calendar stopped updating
- Identify whether you imported an
.icsfile or subscribed to a feed. - For a subscription, refresh the calendar app and check the account’s sync settings.
- On iPhone, remember that an account without Push may update according to its Fetch schedule.
- Compare the official page with the phone event. If the source is stale, remove the old subscription or import and add the current official calendar again.
The Add F1 calendar button does nothing
- Try the official page in another browser or on a desktop, then send the subscription or
.icsfile to the phone. - Check that a calendar app is installed and that the browser is allowed to open calendar files.
- If a third-party feed is the only available fallback, label it as unofficial and verify every race against the official page.
Only some sessions are listed
The accessible official page text does not guarantee identical session coverage on every calendar client. Review the event list after syncing. If you require practice, qualifying or sprint alerts, use a session-selection app only after checking its unofficial status and comparing its schedule with Formula 1’s live page.
A two-minute pre-race checklist
- Open the official Formula 1 schedule and confirm the next event.
- Open the matching phone event and compare date, start time and time zone.
- Confirm the event belongs to the visible F1 calendar.
- Confirm an alert is attached and that calendar-app notifications are permitted.
- If the event came from an import, check manually for changes; if it came from a subscription, refresh according to the provider’s sync behavior.
This workflow gives you a dependable phone reminder without buying a separate device or relying on an outdated season list.
