To make a YouTube livestream unlisted, open YouTube Studio, choose Create > Go live, and set the stream’s privacy to Unlisted in Live Control Room. For a stream or replay that already exists, go to Content > Live, open its details, change Visibility to Unlisted, and save. Anyone with the link can still watch and share it; unlisted does not mean access is limited to invited viewers.
Set a new or scheduled stream to Unlisted
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create > Go live in the upper-right menu.
- In Live Control Room, select the Stream tab for a new encoder stream or one in progress. For a scheduled stream, open Manage and select the stream.
- Open the stream’s settings or edit controls and choose Unlisted under privacy or visibility.
- Save the change or create the stream. If it is already live, check the current stream’s edit controls and confirm the setting is saved.
YouTube supports Public, Private, and Unlisted privacy settings for live streams. The precise controls can vary as the interface changes, so look for the stream’s edit settings if the labels or layout differ. Change an existing live upload or replay
- In YouTube Studio, select Content from the left menu.
- Open the Live tab.
- Find the stream or replay, then open its details or visibility control.
- Set Visibility to Unlisted and save.

What Unlisted means for viewers
An unlisted stream or replay generally does not appear in YouTube search or on your channel’s Videos tab. Anyone with the link can watch it without a Google Account and can pass the link to someone else. It is therefore link-based access, not private access control. An unlisted video may also become findable if someone adds it to a public playlist. See YouTube’s privacy-setting guidance.

Changing a stream to Unlisted should not be treated as a guarantee that YouTube retracts notifications already sent or immediately removes it from every existing discovery surface; YouTube’s cited guidance does not establish either outcome.
Keep privacy separate from the 24/7 archive plan
Unlisted controls who can discover a stream through ordinary YouTube listings; it does not guarantee that a continuous broadcast will be saved as one complete replay. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived and warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A 24/7 broadcast exceeds that threshold, so if preserving the entire programme matters, arrange a separate local recording or other archive workflow rather than relying on one complete YouTube replay.
