Build a Make scenario that captures a page URL and sends the resulting image through WhatsApp Business Cloud. A practical starting route is HTML/CSS to Image → Create a Screenshot of a URL, followed by WhatsApp Business Cloud → Send a Message. Make documents these building blocks, but not a tested, field-by-field recipe, so confirm the screenshot output and media inputs in your live scenario before relying on it.
What you need before building the scenario
- A Make account and a scenario with a screenshot-capture action.
- A WhatsApp Business Cloud connection. Make lists a Facebook account, Meta Business Suite account, and valid WhatsApp Business number as requirements. Its setup flow directs you to create a business portfolio and WhatsApp Business account before connecting Make. See Make’s WhatsApp Business Cloud documentation.
- A recipient you are authorized to message, and a WhatsApp-approved sender number. Make says the business phone number must be approved by WhatsApp before sending.
- A page URL that the capture service can access. If the page requires sign-in, blocks automated access, or depends on interactive behavior, verify that the selected capture action can handle it.
Make describes both regular and Coexistence signup for WhatsApp Business Cloud, but warns that Coexistence is not available in every country. The available documentation does not establish whether India is currently supported for Coexistence; check the country availability shown in Meta’s live setup flow. Make also describes a legacy connection using a permanent token and WhatsApp Business Account ID, but credential steps can change, so follow the current connection screens rather than relying on a legacy setup.

Build the Make scenario
1. Capture the page
- In Make, create a scenario and add the HTML/CSS to Image app.
- Select Create a Screenshot of a URL.
- Map the input URL from the scenario trigger or enter a test URL. Set any capture controls exposed in the current module, such as viewport or image format.
- Run the capture module once and inspect its output. Identify whether it returns image data, a file, or a URL; the WhatsApp step needs media in the form its current module accepts.
Make’s integration catalog lists this screenshot action. The exact output fields and available capture controls should be confirmed in your account’s current module UI; the published material does not define a complete scenario blueprint. See HTML/CSS to Image in Make.

2. Connect WhatsApp Business Cloud and send the image
- Add WhatsApp Business Cloud → Send a Message and connect the approved business account and sender.
- Choose the intended recipient and the message type. For a first automated outbound contact, use an approved WhatsApp template. Make’s documented rule says a non-template Send a Message can be used only after a template was sent to that specific customer and the customer replied.
- Map the screenshot output to the media field if the module accepts it directly. If it does not, insert the media upload/download step required by the current module: use Make’s file download or HTTP API-request actions to obtain and submit the image in the required form, then map the resulting media reference into the send step.
- Enter a short caption if appropriate, then test with a URL and recipient you are authorized to use. Confirm the delivered image, sender, crop or viewport, and whether the media mapping behaves as expected.
Make documents the WhatsApp module and HTTP actions, including downloading a file and making an API request, but the cited pages do not validate direct compatibility between a particular screenshot output and WhatsApp’s media input. Inspect the live field requirements rather than assuming a URL, binary file, or media ID can be substituted for another.

Choose the screenshot route that fits your scenario
| Route | Best fit | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| HTML/CSS to Image in Make | A straightforward scenario using Make’s listed Create a Screenshot of a URL action. | Current capture controls, output format, and whether its output can feed the WhatsApp media step directly. |
| ScreenshotNeo API | When you want a screenshot endpoint called from Make’s HTTP actions, or need capture controls beyond those exposed by your chosen Make app. | API key handling, response format, and the file/media mapping needed for WhatsApp. ScreenshotNeo’s docs are at https://screenshotneo.com/docs/. |
| GetScreenshot integration | An alternative named capture service listed by Make for page capture and monitoring. | Current feature fit, output mapping, service cost, and availability for your use case; comparative reliability and pricing are not established here. |
| Custom HTTP request | When you already have a screenshot API endpoint and want to call it directly from Make. | Authentication, response body, file handling, failure paths, and the additional service credentials and operations involved. |
Compare options on setup effort, viewport or full-page controls actually offered, output accessibility, failure handling, service and Make operation costs, and regional availability. Do not assume one route is faster or more reliable without measuring it for your own pages and scenario.
Or skip the browser setup
Instead of configuring a browser capture action, Make can call ScreenshotNeo’s screenshot endpoint. One GET request with a URL returns an image or PDF. For a Make HTTP request, use the endpoint and query parameters shown here; keep the key in a secret or credential field rather than exposing it in a public scenario or log.

Test, monitor, and control costs
Test the whole delivery path
- Start with a public page and a recipient who has agreed to receive the test.
- Check the screenshot itself for viewport, crop, loading, and image-format issues before testing WhatsApp.
- Verify the file or media reference produced by the capture step is accepted by WhatsApp Business Cloud.
- Confirm that the sender number is approved and that the message mode is allowed for the recipient.
- Run a second test with the kind of page and trigger your live workflow will use, including any dynamic or delayed content.
Plan for failures and ongoing charges
Expect each scenario run to consume Make operations, and potentially incur separate capture-service and WhatsApp charges. The source material does not provide a comparable price for the listed capture integrations, so check current service plans and Make operation usage before estimating a production workflow.
Make’s WhatsApp Business Cloud documentation states that, effective October 1, 2026, service messages (non-template messages within the 24-hour window) are metered, with 1,000 free delivered messages per month per business number; it also says that without a payment method in Meta’s Billing Hub, messages beyond that are not delivered even if the module operation appears successful. This is a time-sensitive statement from Make, not an independently verified Meta rate. Check Meta’s current pricing and delivery terms before launch.

Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp connection or send action is unavailable | The business setup is incomplete, sender is not approved, or current connection requirements differ from a legacy guide. | Complete the current Meta business and WhatsApp setup, approve the number, and reconnect through Make’s live setup flow. |
| Image field rejects the screenshot result | The capture module returns a URL or file representation different from the media field’s expected input. | Inspect the capture output and WhatsApp field help. Add the appropriate download and media-upload/API-request step, then map the returned media reference. |
| Message is rejected when sent as free-form text | The recipient has not received and replied to a template as required by Make’s documented module rule. | Use an approved template for the initial outbound message; use non-template sending only after the specific customer has replied to a preceding template. |
| Scenario reports success but recipient gets no message | Delivery can fail after the automation step, including because of account billing or WhatsApp policy constraints. | Check the recipient’s delivery status, sender approval, Meta Billing Hub, and the current Meta pricing and delivery rules rather than treating a successful Make operation as proof of receipt. |
| Screenshot is blank, incomplete, or has the wrong crop | The page may load content late, need a different viewport, or be inaccessible to the capture service. | Adjust capture settings available in the selected module, test the URL independently, and verify whether delayed or interactive content is supported. |
| Coexistence signup is not offered | Make states that Coexistence is not supported in every country; India’s current status is not established by the cited documentation. | Check Meta’s current country eligibility in the setup flow and use an available supported connection path. |
Frequently asked questions
Does the workflow need a physical device or an always-open browser?
No special hardware is part of the documented workflow. The described building blocks are Make modules, a screenshot service, and WhatsApp Business Cloud, so the scenario is configured as a cloud automation.
Can I send a screenshot to any WhatsApp number automatically?
Do not treat the flow as permission to message arbitrary numbers. Use an authorized recipient and follow WhatsApp’s current messaging rules, including the template and reply condition Make documents for non-template sending.
