To send money from Switzerland to India, choose a provider that supports your recipient’s preferred payout method, then compare live quotes for the same CHF amount. The key figure is not just the transfer fee: compare the total CHF debited with the INR the recipient will receive, accounting for the exchange rate, payment-method charges, and any disclosed receiving or intermediary fees.
What transfer options can you use?
The practical choices are an international money-transfer provider or a bank route that supports CHF-to-INR transfers. Availability depends on the provider, the transfer purpose and amount, and how the recipient wants to receive the money.

Money-transfer providers
Providers may offer delivery to an Indian bank account, and some may support eligible UPI IDs or cash pickup. These options are not interchangeable: check the Switzerland-to-India quote flow for the exact payout method you need. Wise’s Switzerland-to-India page describes local Indian bank-account delivery and a separate UPI-ID route. Western Union lists bank-account and cash-pickup options on its Switzerland fee page, but that general list does not establish that every method is available for India. Confirm route-specific availability before paying.
Bank routes and regulated remittance channels
India’s Reserve Bank describes two inward-remittance frameworks that may be relevant to transfers from abroad. Under the Rupee Drawing Arrangement (RDA), Indian authorized banks arrange inward remittances through ties with non-resident exchange houses. The Money Transfer Service Scheme (MTSS) covers permitted personal remittances into India through overseas principals and RBI-authorized Indian agents; MTSS does not permit outward remittances from India. These are regulatory channel descriptions, not proof that a particular Swiss bank or app uses either model. See the RBI FAQ and RBI’s MTSS guidelines.
If you prefer your existing Swiss bank, check its current CHF-to-INR terms and delivery process directly. The available source material does not establish comparable live Swiss bank offers, so it cannot support a claim that a named bank is cheaper than a transfer provider.
How to compare fees and exchange rates
Compare the amount leaving your account with the INR arriving at the recipient’s end. A low advertised transfer fee can be offset by a less favorable exchange rate, a card-funding charge, or other costs. Ask the recipient to confirm whether they want a bank deposit, an eligible UPI payment, or cash pickup, then compare providers using that same payout method.

Wise says it uses the mid-market rate and displays its fees separately on its route page; that is Wise’s description of its service, not independent verification. Western Union says it earns money from currency exchange as well as fees, and notes that fees and rates may change without notice. Read the Wise route page and Western Union’s Switzerland fee page, then rely on the live quote shown for your own transfer.

A dated Wise fee example
On its Switzerland-to-India route page, Wise displayed the following fees for a 2,000 CHF comparison when accessed on October 7, 2026. These are provider-published examples from that page snapshot, not a permanent tariff or a market-wide comparison.
Rank #3
| Funding method | Displayed Wise fee for 2,000 CHF |
|---|---|
| Wise-account money | 7.63 CHF |
| Bank transfer | 8.43 CHF |
| Debit card | 30.03 CHF |
| Credit card | 72.57 CHF |
| Google Pay or Apple Pay | 77.22 CHF |
The example shows why payment method matters: changing how you fund a transfer can change the displayed fee. It does not establish which provider is cheapest overall, because the final comparison also depends on the live exchange rate, the amount delivered, payout route, and other charges.
How long does a transfer take?
Check the estimate shown for your exact funding method and payout route. Wise’s route page, accessed October 7, 2026, stated that 74% of transfers were completed in under 20 seconds and 95% in less than a day. Those are Wise’s provider-published figures, not independent statistics or a promise about an individual transfer. Payment processing, routine compliance checks, banking hours, and the receiving institution can affect timing.
What recipient information do you need?
Requirements vary with the provider and payout method. Before starting, ask the recipient for the account or UPI details required by the selected route, and follow the provider’s live instructions for identity and transfer-purpose information. Do not assume bank-account details will work for a UPI payout or that a cash-pickup option is available for every recipient.

- Ask the recipient which payout method they can use: an Indian bank account, an eligible UPI ID, or cash pickup if offered on the route.
- Confirm that the provider supports Switzerland-to-India transfers for your purpose, amount, and chosen payout method.
- Enter the same CHF amount with each provider. Compare the total debit and the INR delivered, using the same payment source and delivery urgency.
- Review the displayed exchange rate, any separately stated FX markup, payment-method charges, and disclosed receiving or intermediary costs.
- Check the estimated delivery time, transfer limits, and required recipient and compliance information.
- Recheck the quote immediately before authorizing payment. Rates, fees, estimates, and route availability can change.
Which option should you choose?
Choose by the recipient’s available payout method and the live, matched quote—not by a static fee example or a provider’s general list of services. A transfer provider may suit you if it supports the required route and payout method at an acceptable total cost. A bank route may suit you if you prefer to send through your bank, but compare its current exchange rate, fees, delivery estimate, and any possible intermediary or receiving charges. No available evidence establishes a universally cheapest provider for this corridor.
