Instead, it tracks battles in separate places: a win-loss record for GO Battle League, medal progress for Trainer Battles and Team Leader training, and a Journal that shows recent activity. If you want your GO Battle League record, open Main Menu > Battle and look in the GO Battle League section. For everything else, the Trainer Profile is where you need to look.
Where to find each battle record
- Open Pokémon GO and make sure you are on Map View.
- Tap the Main Menu button, then tap Battle.
- Find the GO Battle League panel. Its menu lists your win-loss record.
- To check medal progress, return to Map View, tap your Trainer portrait in the lower-left corner, and scroll to Medals.
- To see recent wins, stay on the Trainer Profile and open the Journal.
Which number counts which battles
Each of these displays answers a different question, so they should not be added together. The table below separates them by battle mode, where you find them, and what they count.

GO Battle League: the win-loss record and the rank
The win-loss record in the Battle menu is the closest thing to a battle scoreboard the game offers, but it only covers GO Battle League. GO Battle League rank is a separate, seasonal measure. It is based on matches played and/or won, and only matches started through global GO Battle League matching affect it. Battles against nearby Trainers, Friends, or Team Leaders do not change that rank. A player who has won many Trainer Battles can therefore show a modest GO Battle League record, and the reverse is also true.
Trainer Battle and Team Leader medals
Winning eligible battles against nearby Trainers or Friends advances the Great League Veteran, Ultra League Veteran, or Master League Veteran medal, depending on the league. These medals are progress markers on your profile. They are not a win count displayed in the way the GO Battle League record is.

Team Leader victories advance the Ace Trainer medal. Training with Team Leaders is opened from Main Menu > Battle, where you scroll to Training. The official help page says this path is available to Trainers at level 10 or above.
Pokémon GO’s official Trainer Battle Update, dated June 23, 2026, announced the rollout of the Trainer Battle system. The help pages referenced here do not give a separate end date for that rollout, so if the medal or menu you see differs from this guide, check whether your app version is current before assuming a problem with your account.

Why the Journal is not a complete battle ledger
The Journal is the one place on the profile that mentions battles you have won, but it is designed for recent activity. Pokémon GO’s help page, Viewing your Trainer Profile & Progress, describes it this way: “Journal – Displays recent activity, such as Pokémon you’ve caught and battles you’ve won.” Entries can scroll out of view, and the help page does not present the Journal as a lifetime record. Use it to confirm recent wins, not to total your career.

Common mix-ups to avoid
- Reading a medal level as a battle count. Medals measure progress toward a goal and do not list every win.
- Expecting Trainer Battle wins to move your GO Battle League rank. They do not.
- Assuming the Journal holds your full history. It shows recent activity only.
- Looking for a Team Leader result in the League record. Team Leader victories feed the Ace Trainer medal.
