Opening a suspicious Discord campaign link does not, by itself, prove your account was compromised. Stop interacting with the page, then act according to what happened: entering your password or MFA code, approving an app, downloading a file, or seeing account changes calls for different steps.
Use Discord’s app or type its official address yourself; don’t return through the campaign link or follow-up messages. Never enter credentials, MFA codes, or payment details there, and don’t download or run anything it offers.

First, identify what happened
A link can lead to a fake login page, an app authorization screen, or a file download. A page opening alone does not show that any of those actions occurred. Check for concrete signs of exposure or unauthorized access rather than assuming the account is taken over.
- You only opened the page: Close it and don’t interact further. If you did not enter information, authorize an app, or download or run a file, the click alone does not establish account compromise.
- You entered your Discord password or MFA code: If you can still sign in, change your password immediately. If you cannot, use Discord’s password-reset flow. If you reused that password elsewhere, change it on those services too.
- You approved an app: Review Authorized Apps and revoke access you do not recognize or no longer want. A normal webpage click does not necessarily grant an app permission.
- You downloaded or ran a file: Don’t open it again. If you ran it or your device is behaving abnormally, check the device; Discord recommends Windows Defender on Windows.
- You see unauthorized activity or can no longer access the account: Follow the recovery steps below and submit a hacked-account report to Discord.
If you can still sign in, secure the account
Change your password
In Discord on desktop or browser, open User Settings → My Account → Change Password. On mobile, open your avatar, then Settings → Account → Password. Choose a long, unique password that you do not use on another site. Discord’s stated minimum is eight characters, with possible additional requirements by region; a password manager can help generate and store a distinct password for each service. If MFA is enabled, Discord will ask for an MFA code during the password change. See Discord’s password change and reset instructions.

Review Authorized Apps
In User Settings, open Authorized Apps. Revoke access for apps you do not recognize or no longer want connected. Discord provides desktop/browser and mobile navigation in its compromised-account guidance.
Set up MFA and protect its recovery codes
Discord supports passkeys and security keys, authenticator apps, and SMS. Discord describes passkeys and security keys as phishing resistant and recommends them; it cautions that SMS can be intercepted or affected by SIM swapping. No MFA method guarantees that an account cannot be compromised. Save Discord’s one-time backup codes somewhere secure and separate from your device. Discord says Support cannot remove MFA from an account, so available backup codes and other configured recovery options matter if you lose access to your MFA device. Follow the current Discord MFA setup instructions.

If you can’t sign in
Password forgotten or changed
Go to Discord’s official login page directly, enter the email address tied to the account, and choose Forgot your password? Follow the instructions sent to that email. Discord Support says it cannot reset a user’s password on their behalf. If the email still works but the reset message does not arrive, check the mailbox’s spam or junk folder. Account email changed
Check the original email inbox immediately for Discord’s email-change notification and its Start Account Recovery link. Discord says the recovery URL begins https://discord.com/wasntme/ and is valid for 48 hours. Using it can revert the email, log the account out of all devices, require a new password, and remove the phone number and MFA methods; add those back after recovery. Do not share the unique link. Discord says Support cannot issue a replacement once it expires. Details are in Discord’s email-change recovery instructions.

MFA prevents access
Try the backup codes or other MFA options you set up. Discord says Support cannot remove MFA from an account, so don’t trust anyone claiming they can bypass it for you. Its MFA guidance explains the supported methods and backup codes.
Report suspected account takeover to Discord
If you see activity you did not authorize, believe someone accessed the account, or cannot recover it through the available steps, submit a hacked-account ticket through Discord’s compromised-account support route. Include relevant details and any unauthorized Discord transactions. Discord warns that its staff will not contact users directly in-app to request personal information, payment, or login changes.

For unauthorized Discord charges
Report unauthorized transactions through Discord’s support request and use its billing request for refund questions. Discord notes that requesting a bank chargeback or refund directly for a Discord transaction may lead to account suspension while it investigates; follow the published Discord billing route rather than bypassing it.

A click alone is not evidence that malware was installed. If you downloaded a file, don’t open it; if you ran it or notice unusual device behavior, Discord recommends running Windows Defender on Windows. Its guidance does not establish that a link click alone requires a factory reset, operating-system reinstall, or paid cleaner. For the account steps, use Discord’s compromised-account guidance.
