If someone stole your Roblox password or browser cookie, treat the account and the device used to access it as compromised. First clean the device, then recover the account through Roblox, set a password that is unique to Roblox, revoke unfamiliar sessions, enable stronger sign-in protection, and contact Roblox Support quickly if you cannot regain access or items are missing. A password change by itself is not a reliable substitute for ending active sessions when a cookie may have been copied.
What to do first
Use a known-clean computer or phone if possible. Do not enter a new password, recovery code, or payment detail on a device that may still contain the malware, extension, or remote-access software that exposed the old credentials. Sign in only through the official Roblox website or app; links in messages, videos, advertisements, or chat can lead to convincing phishing pages.

- Disconnect the suspect device from Roblox. Close Roblox and browser windows. If you believe malware is active, disconnect the device from the internet while you investigate it.
- Clean the device. Remove suspicious downloads and browser extensions, run a full virus scan, restart, and run the scan again.
- Recover the account. From the clean device, use Roblox’s normal login or password-recovery flow.
- Replace the password. Make it long, random, and unused on every other service.
- Revoke sessions. In Account Settings, open Security and use Where you’re logged in to sign out devices you do not recognize.
- Add two-step protection and preserve recovery methods. Choose an authenticator app, email 2SV, a security key, or the Enhanced Protection setup that your device supports.
- Escalate without delay. Contact Roblox Support if self-service recovery fails, and contact it within 30 days of the compromise if you want to ask about possible inventory assistance.
Do not share the replacement password, browser cookies, 2SV codes, or backup codes with anyone, including someone claiming to be support.

1. Clean the device before changing account credentials
A stolen password can be reused until you replace it. A stolen browser cookie is different: it may represent an already-authenticated Roblox session, so an attacker could continue using that session even without knowing the new password. Cleaning the source device reduces the chance that a keylogger, infostealer, malicious extension, or remote-access program immediately captures the replacement credentials.

Remove the likely source
- Uninstall downloads you obtained from unofficial sites, cracks, cheats, executors, or file-sharing links around the time the account was compromised.
- Open each installed browser’s extensions page and remove extensions that are unfamiliar or not from a safe, verified source. If you are unsure, remove the extension rather than leaving it enabled while you recover the account.
- Check recently installed applications and startup items for software you did not deliberately install. Roblox’s guidance is to remove malicious software; it does not require or endorse a particular antivirus vendor.
Scan twice
- Run a full, not quick, malware scan with the security software already available on the device.
- Allow the scanner to quarantine or remove detections, then restart the device.
- Run a second full scan after the restart. Do not proceed to password recovery on that device until the follow-up scan is clear or the security software gives you a remediation result you understand.
If the device remains suspicious after two scans, recover the account from another trusted device and seek qualified technical help for the affected computer. Cleaning the device is a containment step, not proof that every stolen cookie has expired.
2. Recover access and create a unique password
Use Roblox’s official website or app. If you are still signed in on a clean device, open Account Settings and change the password there. If you are signed out, use the standard password-reset flow associated with the account’s verified email address or phone number.
Choose a password Roblox has not seen elsewhere
- Do not recycle a password from email, gaming platforms, social networks, school, or payment services.
- A password manager can generate and store a different random password for Roblox, which Roblox Support suggests considering.
- Do not send the password to a friend for safekeeping or type it into a form reached from an unsolicited message.
If the attacker changed the password but you still control the verified recovery channel, complete the reset from the clean device and continue to session revocation. If no email or phone is attached, or the reset route no longer reaches you, Roblox’s password guidance directs you to Customer Support. Roblox must verify ownership before resetting an account or changing account information.
Secure the recovery account as well
A Roblox password reset is only as strong as the email account or phone used to receive it. Change the recovery email’s password if it was reused, enable its own multi-factor protection, and review that account for forwarding rules, unfamiliar sessions, or changed recovery details. Remove an attacker’s recovery address or phone from Roblox only after you have established your own verified recovery method.

3. Revoke suspicious sessions and stolen cookies
Changing a password does not, by itself, establish that every existing Roblox session or copied cookie has been invalidated. Use Roblox’s session-management control explicitly.
Use the session list
- Sign in from the clean device.
- Open Account Settings → Security → Where you’re logged in.
- Review every listed session’s device, approximate region, and last-active time.
- Select an individual session and log it out if you know it is not yours.
- For a broad reset, choose Log Out of All Other Sessions. This signs out other sessions while retaining the one you are using.
Some older sessions may appear as Unknown when Roblox lacks complete device details. An unknown entry is a reason to sign it out, not evidence that it is harmless. After using the all-other-sessions control, sign out of the Roblox app and browser on any device you no longer trust, then sign back in only after the device has been cleaned.
Check for account changes
Review the account email, phone number, display name, privacy and parental settings, connected devices, and any security method you did not add. Look at recent trades, purchases, messages, or avatar changes for activity you do not recognize. Save screenshots and transaction details before contacting support; they can help explain what happened, but do not delay session revocation while gathering evidence.
4. Turn on stronger sign-in protection
Roblox says 2-Step Verification (2SV) is especially useful when a password is stolen. A verified email address is required to enable 2SV, and the documented setup allows one 2SV method to be selected at a time. Codes are secrets: Roblox says never to give out your password, browser cookies, 2SV security codes, backup codes, personal details, or sensitive computer information.

For a security key or passkey, use a device and browser that Roblox supports and keep a recovery method available before removing an older method. No single method replaces device cleaning, session revocation, or protection of the recovery email.
Store and rotate backup codes safely
Backup codes are for account recovery, not for sharing in chat or email. Each Roblox backup code is one-use. Roblox allows the set to be regenerated; regenerating it deactivates the previous set. Store the current codes offline or in a secure password-manager vault, and generate a new set immediately if you think anyone saw the old one.
5. Protect against the next phishing attempt
Account thieves often return with a fake “verification,” free Robux offer, moderation notice, or support conversation. The safest habit is to open the Roblox app or type the official site address yourself rather than following a login link. Verify the browser address before entering credentials, and close pages that ask for a cookie, 2SV code, or backup code.

- Roblox staff will not need your password or browser cookie to “restore” an account.
- Never paste a cookie into a tool, extension, developer console, or chat, even if someone says it is needed to claim an item.
- Do not approve an authenticator prompt or enter a code that you did not initiate.
- Keep your email, phone, passkey, and authenticator device under your control; do not let another person register their recovery method on your account.
- Keep browsers, operating systems, and Roblox applications updated, and remove extensions that you no longer need.
6. Contact Roblox Support when self-service recovery fails
Contact Roblox Customer Support if the attacker changed the account email or password, removed your recovery methods, enabled their own 2SV, or left you unable to complete the reset. Explain that the account may have suffered password or cookie theft and provide the username, the approximate compromise date, the clean-up steps you took, and the exact error shown by the recovery flow.

Information that can help prove ownership
Roblox says the first email address ever added to the account or the billing email used for the first payment may help its ownership review. Include those details only through the official support form. A matching detail assists verification but does not guarantee that Roblox will recover the account or change account information.
Set realistic expectations about lost items
Roblox says restoration of virtual items or currency is not guaranteed and may be available only in limited circumstances. If you want to ask about possible inventory assistance, contact Roblox within 30 days of the compromise. Roblox also says it cannot enforce or recover inventory from deals made outside its official systems, so items transferred through unofficial arrangements may not be recoverable.

When access is restored, perform a deliberate second review rather than assuming the incident is over. Confirm that your email and phone are yours, that the password is unique, that the selected 2SV method belongs to you, and that no unfamiliar session remains in Where you’re logged in. Regenerate backup codes if they may have been exposed. Check purchase receipts, trades, messages, groups, avatar items, and privacy settings for changes, and preserve evidence of unauthorized activity for the support case.

Decision guide for common situations
You can still sign in and the device is clean
Change the password, use Where you’re logged in to log out all other sessions, inspect account changes, and enable 2SV. Keep the current clean session until you have completed those actions so you do not lock yourself out unnecessarily.
You can still sign in, but the device may be infected
Do not change credentials on that device. Use another trusted device, then return to the cleaning procedure and scan the original computer before using it again.
You are signed out but control the verified email or phone
Use Roblox’s official reset flow from a clean device, set a unique password, revoke sessions, and add 2SV. If the recovery message does not arrive, check the recovery account’s security and contact support rather than submitting codes to a third party.
You lost the recovery channel or the attacker changed it
Stop repeated guesses and contact Roblox Customer Support. Provide the earliest account email or first-payment billing email if available, but plan for an ownership review and do not assume a successful recovery.
You see missing items or currency
Document the account name, dates, transaction or trade records, and visible changes, then contact Roblox within the 30-day window described for possible limited inventory assistance. Do not pay a stranger who promises to reverse the transfer.
Final checklist
- Suspicious downloads and unverified extensions removed.
- Full malware scan completed, device restarted, and a second full scan completed.
- Password replaced with one used nowhere else.
- Every unfamiliar session signed out through Account Settings → Security → Where you’re logged in.
- Verified email and phone checked for unauthorized changes.
- Authenticator app, email 2SV, security key, or Enhanced Protection configured according to the available device support.
- Backup codes stored privately and regenerated if exposed.
- Roblox Support contacted promptly if access or inventory remains at risk.
Bottom line
Recovering a Roblox account after password or cookie theft is a containment exercise, not just a password reset. Clean the device first, replace the password from a trusted device, explicitly revoke sessions, strengthen sign-in, and involve Roblox Support quickly when self-service recovery or item restoration is uncertain.
