Telegram’s People Nearby feature helps you discover other Telegram users who are close to your current location. It’s designed for quick, casual introductions—not a replacement for social media.
In 2024, the experience depends heavily on location permissions and app settings. If Nearby People isn’t loading or you see no results, the fix is usually on the device side (location services) or inside Telegram’s privacy controls.

Prerequisites before you start
- You need the Telegram mobile app (Android or iPhone/iPad) for the most reliable Nearby People experience.
- Telegram must be allowed to access your device location.
- Your Telegram privacy settings must allow you to be discovered in Nearby People.
- You should have a stable internet connection (mobile data or Wi‑Fi).
Enable location access on your device
Nearby People depends on OS location services. If location is denied or restricted, Telegram can’t compute proximity and the feature may show nothing or keep loading.

- Look for People Nearby (sometimes labeled Nearby People).
- Tap People Nearby.
