A screenshot preserves what a WooCommerce product page showed at one moment; it will not check prices again later. For a one-time record, use Chrome DevTools. To watch a product on someone else’s store, set up a page-change monitor. To keep price history for your own WooCommerce catalog, use a price-history extension. These are separate jobs, so start by deciding whose store you are tracking.
Choose the workflow that matches your goal
| What you need | Use | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Keep a visual record of a product page now | Chrome DevTools | Captures the visible viewport or the full page; it does not monitor later changes. |
| Get alerts about a product on another store | A scheduled website monitor | Checks a page or selected price region repeatedly and alerts when it detects a change. |
| Record prices for products in your own WooCommerce shop | A price-history extension | Records changes to your catalog prices and can show history over a chosen period. |
Take a one-time screenshot with Chrome DevTools
Open the product URL in Chrome and wait for the product details and price to appear. Select a viewport capture if you need a compact record of what was visible, or a full-size capture if the whole page matters. Chrome for Developers’ Device Mode documentation describes the full-page option: “To capture a screenshot of the whole page including the content that isn’t currently visible in the viewport, select Capture a full size screenshot from the same menu.”

Before capturing, make sure the page shows the product and price you intend to document. If the product has selectable variations, choose the relevant one first and confirm the displayed price. Keep in mind that this capture records only the state shown at that moment; it cannot notify you of a later price change.

Track a sale price on another store
Use a scheduled website monitor when you want to know whether an external product page changes. Services such as Visualping can monitor a page or a selected region, compare current content with an earlier check, and send alerts. Its documentation distinguishes cloud monitoring, which continues when your computer is off, from local monitoring, which requires Chrome to remain open.

Set up a useful monitor
- Open the exact product page and select the desired product variation, if applicable.
- Choose the price area rather than the whole page if the monitor supports selecting a region. This reduces unrelated changes, such as a review or banner update, being mistaken for a price movement.
- Choose a check interval that suits how frequently you need updates, then enable notifications through the monitor’s available settings.
- When an alert arrives, inspect the before-and-after comparison and the product page itself before concluding that the sale price changed.
An alert establishes that monitored page content changed, not that a structured or complete price ledger has been created. Product variations, region, currency, cookies, or page rendering can affect what appears. Check that the monitor is seeing the same product and price context you care about; the reviewed documentation does not establish identical behavior for every WooCommerce theme or configuration.
Keep price history for your own WooCommerce store
If you manage the shop, WooCommerce’s product editor is where you set prices: products have regular and sale price fields, and a sale can be scheduled with start and end dates. Variable products can have prices at the variation level. These controls set prices; by themselves, they are not a historical record of how prices changed over time.

The WooCommerce Price History Manager documentation describes an extension that records regular and sale prices when product prices change and in a daily sweep. It can calculate the lowest price within a chosen reference period and display history as text, a badge, or a chart. Its documentation distinguishes a period ending before a sale begins from one that includes the active sale. Choose and label the reference window carefully, especially where a displayed prior price is used in advertising; the extension documentation is not legal advice and does not establish the rules for every market.

cURL
Replace the example URL with the WooCommerce product page you want to capture and use your API key. The endpoint options are documented in the ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Python
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and whether the request was billed. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools to take screenshots, get page information, and capture PDFs. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.

Troubleshoot misleading or missing price changes
- The alert is not a price change: Review the page comparison; a whole-page monitor may detect unrelated content changes. Narrow the monitored region to the price when possible.
- The displayed price differs from what you expected: Check the selected variation, region, currency, and cookies on the product page and in the monitor’s view.
- A local monitor stops checking: Local checks require Chrome to stay open; use a cloud monitor if checks need to continue while your computer is off.
- A screenshot omits lower-page content: Use a full-size capture rather than a viewport capture.
- Your store has variable products: Check the price on the relevant variation, since variable products use variation-level prices.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
