To document what an Indian shopping site showed, capture the product listing and, if it does not show every charge, the final order summary before payment. Keep the product and seller context, displayed price, delivery information, separate fee lines, and payable total visible where possible. A screenshot records a page display; it is not a GST tax invoice.
Which screens to capture
A product listing and a checkout summary can show different parts of the price. The listing helps identify the item, seller, and displayed price; the final pre-payment order summary is usually where delivery and other separate charges appear with the total.

Capture both screens when the listing does not show the full amount. Stop at the final summary before payment; do not place an order just to create a record.

- Open the exact product listing. Wait for the price, seller, and delivery details to load. Keep the product name and enough surrounding page context visible to identify the listing.
- Capture any tax wording shown. If the page displays that the price includes GST or shows a tax-invoice badge, include that wording in the screenshot. Do not infer tax treatment from the price alone.
- Set the relevant delivery location if needed. Availability and charges can depend on the address. Keep only the location detail needed to explain the result; a city or PIN code may still identify someone.
- Use the device’s built-in screenshot function. A normal screenshot captures what is currently visible. If the needed content does not fit, take overlapping screenshots or use a full-page capture if the browser or device offers one. A full-page capture is different from a normal screenshot and may not be available in every app.
- Open the cart or order summary only if necessary. Add the item to the cart if that is the only way to see the full charge breakdown. Stop before payment.
- Capture the summary. Include the product line, delivery or shipping charge, other separate fees, discounts, any tax information shown, and the final payable amount. If these do not fit in one frame, take overlapping captures and make clear which screen each one shows.
- Keep the original files and note the context. Record capture date and time and any relevant location or account conditions separately. If sharing publicly, redact personal details on a copy without removing or altering price and fee information.
Make the price and charges understandable
Do not confuse delivery with other fees
Label each line as the site labels it. A delivery or shipping charge is not the same thing as a marketplace or convenience fee. For example, Amazon India describes a marketplace-fee line on the order summary, says it is currently ₹5 per order inclusive of applicable taxes, and lists exceptions. Amazon says the fee appears separately before payment. This is a company policy detail that can change; check Amazon India’s current fee information before relying on the amount or exceptions. Do not present that marketplace fee as a delivery charge.

Keep location and account context proportionate
Delivery availability and charges may vary with the selected address, seller, item, account, and time. Note relevant conditions alongside the images, but do not publish a full street address, phone number, email, order number, or account identifier. The screenshot documents one displayed result, not what every shopper would see.
Preserve the meaning of the capture
- Do not crop away a fee, seller identity, tax statement, or total needed to understand the display.
- Do not edit the original in a way that changes what the page showed. Redact personal data only on a separate sharing copy.
- If you take multiple images, retain their order and identify which is the listing and which is the cart or order summary.
What GST price-display rules mean for your screenshot
The Press Information Bureau’s 26 September 2025 account of a Central Consumer Protection Authority action against Digital Age Retail Pvt. Ltd. (FirstCry) said Rule 7(1)(e) of the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 requires the total price, inclusive of all charges and taxes, to be displayed upfront. The CCPA directed that original and discounted prices be shown inclusive of taxes and that additional charges such as shipping or convenience fees be disclosed clearly and prominently. The action concerned a representation that prices were tax-inclusive followed by GST at checkout; it is a specific enforcement example, not proof that every difference between a listing and checkout is unlawful. The release reported a ₹2,00,000 penalty and gave an example in which an advertised 27% discount was effectively 18.2% after GST. Those figures describe that reported case; they are not general measures of marketplace pricing or discounts.

A screenshot is not a GST invoice
A screenshot is evidence of what a page displayed, not a substitute for the seller’s issued tax invoice. CBIC’s invoice rules specify formal particulars including supplier name, address and GSTIN, a consecutive invoice number, issue date, place of supply, and delivery address when different. The CGST Act also requires the tax amount to be indicated in tax invoices and similar documents. See the CBIC GST invoice rules and the CGST Act.
If you need invoice evidence or documentation for a business input-tax-credit claim, request or download the tax invoice separately and check that it relates to the purchase. Amazon Business says verified GSTIN details and product eligibility affect its GST-related displays, and describes invoice filters or badges and access to eligible invoices. Those details apply to eligible Amazon Business purchases, not all consumer shopping; check Amazon Business’s current GST information for its latest interface and conditions.

Common problems and fixes
- The listing has no delivery charge or total. Open the cart or final pre-payment summary, where the site may show separate delivery and fee lines.
- The amount changes after setting a location. Capture the relevant location context without exposing a full address, and note that the result depends on the selected destination.
- The page is still loading or a price is missing. Wait for the listing and delivery information to finish loading before capturing. If it remains unavailable, do not infer the missing amount.
- Charges do not fit in one screenshot. Take overlapping images or use a full-page capture where supported; identify the screen and keep the original files.
- The screenshot includes private details. Keep an unaltered original and make a separate copy with personal information redacted before public sharing.
- You need proof of GST charged on a purchase. Obtain the seller’s tax invoice. The screenshot documents the page display but does not provide the formal invoice particulars.
