To take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, press the Side button and Volume Down together, then briefly release them. The display flashes when the capture succeeds. For a long page, take a normal screenshot and tap Scroll capture in the toolbar.

- Open the screen you want to save.
- Press the Side button and Volume Down at the same time, then release them after a brief moment.

Enable Palm swipe
- Open Settings.
- Tap Advanced features, then Motions and gestures.
- Turn on Palm swipe to capture.
- Swipe the edge of your hand horizontally across the screen.

Scroll capture extends a screenshot down a scrollable page or document. It is a follow-on option after a standard screenshot, not a separate way to start one.

- Open scrollable content and take a standard screenshot.
- When the screenshot toolbar appears, tap Scroll capture.
- Continue the capture as the page scrolls. Tap outside the toolbar when you want to finish.
The option depends on the displayed content and app: it may not be available if the content does not extend beyond one screen or the app or website does not support it. If the toolbar does not appear, check Settings for the screenshot or screen capture toolbar option. Menu wording can differ by software version and region. Find, edit, and share your screenshots
- Browse: In Gallery, open Albums and then Screenshots. You can also look in My Files > Images.
- Edit: Use the screenshot toolbar’s drawing or cropping controls, or open the saved image in Gallery to edit it.
- Share: Use the image’s Share control to send it through an available app.

Troubleshoot a screenshot that will not capture
The button shortcut does not work
- Try pressing Side and Volume Down together again, then release promptly.
- Check whether a bulky case is blocking access to either button; temporarily remove it if needed.

Palm swipe is unavailable
- Confirm that Palm swipe to capture is switched on under Settings > Advanced features > Motions and gestures.
- Hide the keyboard before trying the gesture; Samsung says Palm swipe does not work while it is displayed.
- If the option is absent, gesture availability may differ by model or software.
Scroll capture does not appear
- Check that the content can scroll beyond the current screen.
- Check whether the screenshot toolbar is enabled in Settings.
- Some apps and websites do not support Scroll capture.
An app blocks screenshots
Some apps and screens, including banking apps, intentionally prevent screenshots for security reasons. Samsung says a message such as “Can’t take screenshot due to security measure” may appear. If your Settings labels look different
Samsung’s instructions are published for different markets, and available menus can vary by country, model, and software version. If a label in this guide does not match your phone, use Settings search to look for “Palm swipe” or “screenshot toolbar,” or use the button combination for a standard screenshot.
