To capture French Google results reliably, set the results-language filter to French, set the results region separately to the market you are studying, then use Firefox’s Save full page or Save visible screenshot option. Record those settings with the capture: a French interface or a google.fr address alone does not establish that you saw a France-localized, French-only results page.
Set French results and the target market separately
Google has distinct controls for interface language, results language, and results region. The interface language changes the language of Google’s controls; it does not, by itself, filter web results to French. For French-language SEO research, use Google Search settings to choose French as the results language and select the intended region separately. If the target is France, choose France as the region. Google’s result-language decisions also use signals such as the query, Search language, device language, location, and information supplied by site owners. Treat a French query or interface as a useful context, not a guarantee that every result will be in French. Google’s localized Search experience is available on google.com as well as country-code domains, so a google.fr address alone does not prove that the market context is France. Apply the results-language filter on the results page
If Google displays the Results Language Filter on the results page, open Tools, choose Any language, and select French. Google describes this as a filter that applies mainly to web results. It may not affect some Search features, and it may not work for pages whose language Google cannot identify. You can select multiple languages, but that returns results in any selected language; it does not create separate SERPs for each language. Capture the results page in Firefox
- Open the Google results page for the query you want to study, after setting the language and region controls.
- Right-click an empty area of the page and choose Take Screenshot. Alternatively, use Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
- Choose Save full page when you need content below the visible viewport, or Save visible to capture only the current viewport.
- Download the image and store it with a note of the query, date, results language, results region, browser/device context, and capture scope.

Use the DevTools full-page option when needed
Firefox DevTools also supports full-page screenshots. Enable the full-page screenshot tool in the DevTools settings, or use the Web Console command screenshot filename.png --fullpage. Make screenshots useful for SEO comparisons
A SERP screenshot is a dated observation of what appeared under particular conditions; it is not proof of universal rankings or stable positions. For a useful comparison, keep the query, capture date, results language, results region, browser/device context, and screenshot scope consistent. Note any change rather than assuming two images are directly comparable.
When evaluating a French-language website or localized page, keep what the screenshot shows separate from claims about how the site is implemented. Google Search Central recommends distinct URLs for language versions and hreflang annotations to help Search connect users with the appropriate version. Google warns that dynamically changing content or redirecting visitors based on language settings can prevent it from discovering every variation. A screenshot alone cannot establish whether a site’s hreflang is correct. Google Search Central: Managing multi-regional and multilingual sites

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. One GET request can return a screenshot or PDF; its capture workflow can accept consent banners and remove known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with the response indicating the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents, including Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
Here is the one-call cURL example, using the target Google query URL in place of the sample URL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aexample.fr+SEO&hl=fr&gl=fr -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. The request returns an image or PDF according to the API options; use the same language and region controls in the target search URL and verify the resulting SERP rather than treating URL parameters as proof of a controlled result set. ScreenshotNeo offers 1,000 screenshots per month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. ScreenshotNeo also has browser-capture options, including full-page capture and custom headers, but browser-based Google settings may be more straightforward when you need to inspect and set preferences interactively.

Common problems and fixes
- The interface is French but results are not: change the results-language preference or apply the Results Language Filter; interface language is a separate setting.
- Results do not look France-specific: set the results region independently. Do not rely on the Google domain alone to define localization.
- Some results or features remain in another language: Google says the filter is mainly for web results and may not affect some Search features or pages whose language it cannot detect.
- The screenshot cuts off lower results: select Save full page, not Save visible.
- Two captures differ unexpectedly: compare the query, date, language, region, browser/device context, and capture scope recorded with each image before attributing the difference to SEO changes.
