To screenshot a web page open in Android Chrome, run Selenium through a mobile automation session such as Appium, navigate to the page, wait for the content you need, and save the screenshot returned by Selenium. The ordinary screenshot call captures the current view—not a guaranteed full-page image. In Appium, use the web context for the browser window; native context captures the device viewport.
What you need for an Android browser screenshot
Selenium’s screenshot API takes an image of the current browsing context. To use it with Android Chrome, you need a WebDriver session connected to that Android browser. A common arrangement is Appium managing the mobile session and the browser automation driver. The exact capabilities and compatible Appium, Android, browser, and driver versions depend on your installed setup; there is no universal version pairing established here. Consult the current documentation for the components you use.
- An Android emulator or physical Android device.
- Android Chrome or another browser supported by your chosen mobile automation driver.
- A running Appium server and a compatible browser driver, configured to create a WebDriver session for the device.
- Selenium client bindings in your chosen language.
A desktop browser using mobile-size emulation can check responsive layout, but it is not a screenshot from Android Chrome on a device. Use an emulator for repeatable configuration or a physical phone when you need to validate a particular handset and browser combination; each choice has its own setup and maintenance effort.
Capture the current Android browser view
- Start the device and automation session. Configure Appium and its browser driver for your emulator or phone and the installed browser. Capability names and driver setup can change between releases, so use documentation for your installed versions rather than copying legacy settings blindly.
- Switch to the browser’s web context. Appium distinguishes native and web contexts: native screenshots capture the Android viewport, while web-context screenshots capture the browser window. Verify the active context before taking the image.
- Navigate and wait for the relevant content. A page load event may not mean that lazy images, client-rendered content, or other dynamic elements are ready. Wait for the specific element or state the screenshot must include; there is no universal page-specific readiness condition.
- Save the screenshot and close the session. Selenium’s
save_screenshotmethod writes the current view to a PNG file. The following is the Selenium API shape; by itself, it does not configure an Android device or Appium session.
from selenium import webdriver
# Connect this driver to your configured Android browser session.
driver = webdriver.Chrome()
try:
driver.get("https://example.com")
driver.save_screenshot("./screenshot.png")
finally:
driver.quit()
For an Android capture, replace the illustrative driver setup with the WebDriver session created through your Appium configuration. Selenium documents saving the current window with save_screenshot(path); the returned image is a PNG. Selenium also provides bytes and Base64 screenshot representations in its Python Chromium WebDriver API documentation, version 4.50.0, accessed 2026-10-03: Python Chromium WebDriver API. The general screenshot examples are in Selenium’s windows and tabs documentation.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android.You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Viewport, browser window, and full-page captures
Do not assume a standard WebDriver screenshot call saves the entire page. The WebDriver screenshot endpoint captures the current browsing context and returns a Base64-encoded PNG. Appium’s screenshot documentation distinguishes a viewport capture in native context from a window capture in web context. Neither description guarantees a portable full-page Android-browser screenshot.
If you need the content below the visible area, investigate browser-specific capture support or a scroll-and-stitch approach, then verify it with your exact browser, driver, and page. Stitching may require handling sticky headers, lazy-loaded content, animations, and changing page layout; no universal method is established by the screenshot API references.
Choose Appium context for the capture you need
| Appium context | What the screenshot represents | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| Native | The Android device viewport. | You need a device-level view rather than the browser’s web window. |
| Web | The browser window. | You want the view of the page open in the browser. |
This distinction is documented in Appium’s WebDriver Protocol, version 3.1 and its screenshot guide. The screenshot guide is archived stable documentation, so confirm version-specific behavior against your Appium release.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Common problems and fixes
- The image shows the device UI instead of the page. The session may be in native context. Switch to the web context before capturing if your goal is the browser window.
- The screenshot is blank or blocked. Check whether the page or device uses Android’s
FLAG_SECURE, which Appium documents as a restriction that can prevent screenshots. A blocked capture may be a platform security behavior, not a Selenium API failure. - The screenshot misses images or dynamic content. Wait for the specific content required by the capture, rather than relying only on navigation completion. Lazy loading and client-side rendering can occur after the initial page load.
- The capture is only the visible area. That is the expected scope of an ordinary current-view screenshot. Use a verified browser-specific method or scrolling and stitching if you require a full-page result.
- The Android browser session does not start. Verify that Appium, the Android device, the browser, and the browser automation driver are compatible and configured for one another. Legacy Appium desired-capability documentation mentions settings such as
chromedriverExecutableandnativeWebScreenshot, but those details are version-sensitive; check your installed release before using them. See Appium’s desired capabilities documentation.

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and options. Before capture, it accepts cookie or consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. ScreenshotNeo also offers an MCP server with screenshot, page-info, and PDF tools for AI agents. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
