Request the sign-in link from the account’s normal login page, complete the provider’s email confirmation flow, and wait until the authenticated account content appears in the same browser session. Then capture only the part you need and inspect the image for private information before sharing it. Whether you must open the link in the original browser depends on the service.
Sign in before you take the screenshot
- Open the account’s normal sign-in page. Enter the email address associated with the account and request a sign-in link. A magic link is an email-delivered credential used to authenticate without entering a password. Google for Developers describes passwordless sign-in methods.
- Keep the original sign-in tab open. Switch to your email app to retrieve the message. Follow the service’s instructions about where to open the link. Some providers bind a sign-in request to the browser that started it. M7, for example, says to use the original browser; if its link opens elsewhere, return to the original page and enter the code there. M7’s instructions apply to its own sign-in flow, not necessarily to other services.
- Complete the provider’s confirmation flow. The link may redirect back to the service, or the service may ask for a code on the original sign-in page. Implementations vary: Magic’s SDK documents a redirect URI and a callback that passes a credential to
loginWithCredential. See Magic’s SDK reference. - Confirm the account page has loaded. Check that the account content you need is visible in the browser you plan to capture. A sign-in form, loading screen, or email message is not the authenticated account page.
Choose the capture scope and method
Use a selected region or the visible page when you need just one section. Full-page capture includes content below the fold and may reveal more than you intend. Browser-native tools can offer webpage-specific or full-page capture; an operating-system screenshot captures what is displayed on screen.

Firefox: use the built-in screenshot tool
Right-click an empty area of the page and choose Take Screenshot, or use Ctrl+Shift+S ( Command+Shift+S on macOS). Select the visible page or a region, or choose Save full page. You can download the image or copy it. Mozilla’s support page for this feature was last updated June 15, 2026: Firefox Screenshots help.
Chrome: use an available local capture method
A Chrome Community reply dated March 6, 2025, suggests opening DevTools and running the command Capture full size screenshot. This is community guidance, not official Chrome documentation, and menus or available commands may differ. If it is unavailable, use a suitable operating-system screenshot method, subject to your device’s policy.

Protect account information in the image
- Capture only the account details needed for your task; crop or redact unrelated identifiers, balances, email addresses, or other personal information.
- Do not include the email containing the sign-in link, or share a URL that carries an authentication credential. Magic documents a credential token in its redirect flow; keeping it out of shared images follows from its authentication role.
- Review the final image at full size before sending or publishing it. Check the browser address bar and any visible notifications as well as the page itself.
Troubleshoot a link or screenshot that does not work
The link opens in a different browser
Return to the browser where you started signing in. If the service offers a code option, enter it on the original sign-in page; otherwise request a fresh link and follow the provider’s instructions. M7 documents this original-browser behavior for its own flow, but it is not a universal requirement.
The link appears expired or already used
Request another link from the service’s official sign-in page. Expiration and one-time-use rules vary by provider. Magic’s SDK documents a default 900-second (15-minute) lifespan for a resolved DID token; that is a token setting, not a general expiration period for emailed magic links.

A managed Chrome environment may apply screenshot-prevention policies to selected sites and capture methods, including shortcuts or extensions. If you already have permission to capture the page and can provide a URL accessible to the API, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot with one GET request. Its clean-shot options accept cookie or consent banners as a visitor and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each cleanup step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and responses identify the page verdict and billing status in headers. It also provides an MCP server with screenshot and PDF tools for AI agents.
For example, this cURL command saves a WebP screenshot of the target URL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
Replace the example URL with the page you are authorized to capture and provide your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for output and request options. A screenshot API does not replace the account’s sign-in flow: do not put a magic link or credential-bearing URL in a request, and do not assume the service can authenticate to a private page without credentials configured for that capture.
