For an Income Tax portal return preview, use its own Download button when it is available: the Income Tax Department’s guide says that this saves the preview as a PDF. For other portal pages, Chrome’s Print → Save as PDF is the simplest way to create a readable, multipage file. Neither method necessarily preserves the exact pixels on screen; for that, capture a screenshot image and convert it to PDF.
Choose the right kind of PDF
“Screenshot” can mean either a picture of what is visible on screen or a print-style document of the webpage. They produce different results:

Download a return-preview PDF from the portal
- Sign in to the official Income Tax e-filing portal and navigate through the filing workflow to the return preview.
- Use the preview’s Download button to save the portal-generated PDF. The Income Tax Department’s Step by Step Guide – Fill Income-tax Return, Step 16, says the preview can be downloaded or printed and that the downloaded preview is in PDF format. The guide was published in May 2021, so follow the current portal labels if the interface has changed.
- Open the saved PDF and check that it contains the pages and details you need before relying on it.
This instruction applies to the return preview described in the guide. Do not assume every page in the authenticated portal has the same Download control.

- Open the page and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open the print dialog with Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or ⌘+P on Mac.
- In the destination selector, choose Save as PDF or the available PDF destination. Review the preview and print settings, then save the file.
- Open the PDF and inspect every page. If the preview is incomplete, look for a portal-provided download for that screen or make a separate screenshot.
Google’s Chrome printing instructions describe the print workflow and destination selection. Labels and dialog layout can vary by operating system and Chrome version.

Save a webpage as PDF in Chrome on Android
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Tap More → Share → Print.
- Choose Save as PDF, select where to save the file, and tap Print.
- Open the saved PDF and check the pages and details.
These labels follow Google’s Chrome printing instructions; they can shift across Chrome and Android versions.
When you need a literal screenshot in a PDF
Print-to-PDF creates a print rendering rather than a guaranteed pixel-for-pixel record of the screen. If the visible appearance matters, take a screenshot using your device’s screenshot function, then use an available image-to-PDF option on that device. A screenshot records only the visible area; capture additional portions separately if you need a long page. Check the resulting PDF for legibility and completeness.

Handle tax documents carefully
- Save the PDF somewhere you control, especially if it contains personal or financial information.
- Before sharing it, check the recipient and confirm that the file contains only information you intend to disclose.
- Inspect the output before relying on it: tables, page breaks, content that loads dynamically, and controls can appear differently in a print rendering.
