Its JobFeed integration uses XML in PUSH or PULL mode. If you need public job-search data, first establish that your use is authorized under the relevant contract and terms; do not assume that a third-party scraper is permitted just because it is available.
Does StepStone have a jobs API?
StepStone’s official API material documents a JobFeed integration for employer vacancies. The intended direction is from an employer’s system to StepStone: the employer supplies job records, and StepStone adds, updates, or takes listings offline as the feed changes.
The reviewed official documentation does not describe a public read or search endpoint for collecting arbitrary StepStone listings. That distinction matters. An employer feed can help you manage vacancies you are authorized to publish; it is not documented as a way to retrieve every job shown on StepStone.
A third-party marketplace advertises a StepStone extraction API and claims StepStone does not publish a public developer API for job-search data. Treat that as a third-party claim, not as confirmation from StepStone. Verify current availability, access requirements, country coverage, data rights, retention, and compliance before relying on it.

What the official JobFeed API does
JobFeed is an integration for synchronizing a customer’s vacancy records with StepStone. The official PULL guide describes a customer-provided list of current jobs: StepStone retrieves the XML feed on an agreed schedule, compares its contents with the listings already on the site, and reflects the changes. A job present in the feed can be added; a removed job can be taken offline.
The Germany guide describes PUSH documents containing one joblisting and PULL documents containing one or more. It names the actions INSERT, UPDATE, and OFFLINE. The interface specification is defined in consultation with StepStone, and activation is requested through the StepStone helpdesk. These are integration details, not evidence of a generally available public search API.
PUSH and PULL compared
| Method | Who initiates transfer? | Transport and contents | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|---|
| PULL | StepStone retrieves the employer’s feed. | The customer hosts an XML feed at an HTTP or HTTPS URL; it contains one or more current listings. | Agree the retrieval schedule, URL access, country channel, account details, and exact feed specification with StepStone. |
| PUSH | The employer’s system sends listing documents through the agreed interface. | The Germany guide describes one joblisting per document and actions including INSERT, UPDATE, and OFFLINE. |
Confirm the interface, activation, credentials, and country-specific specification directly with StepStone. |
The documents do not establish a universal update interval, response format, authentication scheme, or endpoint that developers can use without an agreed integration. Obtain those details from StepStone rather than inferring them from the feed format.
Check authorization before automating collection
StepStone’s API Terms of Use, updated 18 April 2024, state: “It is not permitted to crawl, download, copy, or distribute this platform in whole or in part unless.” The supplied text ends with “unless,” so it does not establish the conditions that may permit an exception. The same terms say technical copies for reading or browsing and API code use may be permitted within applicable law, contracts, and published instructions. StepStone’s general user terms also describe the services as intended for individual job search and prohibit commercial use for company promotion.
These provisions do not support a blanket claim that all scraping is allowed or that every automated request is prohibited in every circumstance. The practical point is to confirm the applicable permission and scope before collecting or redistributing listing data. That includes the relevant country site, purpose, volume, retention, and downstream use. If StepStone has authorized an integration, use the interface and specification it provides.
Set up an authorized employer feed
- Confirm the use case. Establish that you are publishing your organization’s vacancies or using another integration StepStone has contractually permitted. If your goal is to collect public search results, do not treat JobFeed as a search API.
- Contact StepStone for integration details. Obtain the country channel, account identifiers, activation process, feed mode, and current interface specification. The Germany guide says activation is requested through the helpdesk, while the JobFeed PDF says specifications are defined in close consultation with the customer and StepStone.
- Build the XML to the agreed schema. The documented structure uses a
jobfeedroot andjoblistingelements. Each listing needs a stable, uniquereference_id. Documented listing information includes country channel, language, title, introduction, tasks, profile, locations, and an application method. Confirm the mandatory fields, permitted values, and exact element structure in your own integration specification. - Choose PUSH or PULL and test the agreed route. For PULL, host the feed at a URL StepStone can retrieve over HTTP or HTTPS and agree the scheduler. For PUSH, send the documented XML actions using the interface StepStone has assigned. Do not guess an API endpoint or authentication format.
- Reconcile changes and removals. Keep identifiers consistent between feed runs so records can be matched. Follow the agreed procedure for updates and taking jobs offline, then compare the resulting StepStone listings with your source system.
Illustrative XML shape—not a complete schema
This sketch shows only the documented outer elements and identifier. It is not a valid production feed by itself: required child elements, element names, value formats, namespaces, and action placement must come from StepStone’s specification for your integration.
<jobfeed>
<joblisting>
<reference_id>employer-job-123</reference_id>
<!-- Add the required fields from your StepStone specification. -->
</joblisting>
</jobfeed>
Use a stable identifier for a vacancy rather than generating a new value each time the feed is rebuilt. Otherwise the receiving system may be unable to associate an updated record with the existing listing. The required fields and action rules vary by the agreed interface; do not rely on this abbreviated example to publish a vacancy.
If you need public job-search listings
There is no public StepStone read/search endpoint established by the reviewed official technical material. Your next step should be to ask StepStone whether it offers a permitted data-access route for your use case. If you assess a third-party extractor, treat it as a separate vendor integration rather than as StepStone’s official API.

A Reddit community post describes an Apify actor for structured listings on StepStone’s .de, .at, .be, and .nl domains. That post is not an official coverage commitment or proof that the actor remains available. Before using an actor or marketplace API, independently verify:
- Whether the service currently works for the exact country domain and fields you need.
- How it authenticates, what rate limits apply, and how it handles blocked requests or site changes.
- Whether your collection, retention, and reuse of the resulting data are permitted by StepStone’s current terms and your own legal obligations.
- What happens to missing, duplicated, changed, or withdrawn listings and how often results are refreshed.
Do not treat a successful technical response as evidence that the collection or reuse is authorized. A scraper may also need ongoing maintenance when the site changes; the official JobFeed integration and a public-page extractor solve different problems and should not be compared as if they were interchangeable API endpoints.

If your immediate need is a visual record of a page—not structured vacancy data—ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot through one GET request. It is a screenshot API, not a StepStone jobs API: it does not turn a job page into database-ready listing records and does not grant permission to collect or redistribute those records. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the available request options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.stepstone.de/ -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo can accept cookie or consent banners as a visitor and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, with the page verdict and billing status reported in response headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month without a card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Those are screenshot features and limits, not a way around StepStone’s access rules.

StepStone cannot retrieve a PULL feed
Check that the URL is reachable from outside your network, uses the agreed HTTP or HTTPS route, and returns the XML feed expected by StepStone. If access is restricted, coordinate the required access method with StepStone instead of assuming its scheduler can reach a private endpoint.
A listing fails validation or does not appear
Compare the feed against the current integration specification. The official guides identify missing mandatory data, changed structure, and unavailable links as common failure causes. Check the required job and location fields, country channel, application method, and any links before resubmitting.
An update creates a duplicate or fails to replace a vacancy
Check whether the same vacancy retains its unique reference_id across feed versions and whether you are using the update action and document format agreed for your PUSH or PULL integration. Ask StepStone to confirm action semantics if the listing state is unexpected.
A removed vacancy remains online
Verify that the PULL feed no longer includes the record or that the agreed PUSH workflow sent the correct offline action. Then check retrieval or response status through the monitoring mechanism StepStone specified; the reviewed materials do not establish one universal status endpoint.

A third-party scraper stops returning usable data
First distinguish a site or layout change from an access restriction, expired credentials, a rate limit, or a vendor outage. Contact the provider for current country coverage and error handling, and reassess whether the collection remains permitted. Avoid increasing request volume as a first response to failed extraction.
Performance, reliability, and data handling
For an authorized PULL integration, refresh latency depends on the schedule agreed with StepStone; the reviewed guides do not specify a standard interval. For PUSH, delivery behavior likewise depends on the interface agreement. Do not promise downstream users a freshness target until StepStone confirms the operational schedule and you have measured your own end-to-end process.
Keep a record of each feed version, the identifiers it contains, and any transfer or validation results your integration receives. That makes it easier to trace an omitted or changed listing without inventing behavior the official guide does not document. Apply retention and access controls that fit your contract and the permitted use of the data.

Neither the reviewed official material nor the cited community post establishes listing counts, a guaranteed extraction success rate, or a universal country coverage commitment for public-data scraping. Treat those as questions to verify for your specific route rather than assumptions to build into a product.
