Short answer: Do not assume you may scrape Bath & Body Works product pages. The U.S. Terms of Use, last updated January 31, 2025, expressly prohibit monitoring, gathering, copying, or distributing site content with a bot, spider, scraper, crawler, extraction tool, other automated device, or manual process, subject to a narrow exception for standard search-engine activity or use of a standard browser. The same terms specifically identify collecting product prices for a commercial purpose as prohibited. If you have a legitimate data requirement, seek written authorization first and ask whether Bath & Body Works can provide an approved feed or API.
Can you scrape Bath & Body Works product pages?
Not on the assumption that the pages are publicly viewable. The U.S. terms say:
“you will not monitor, gather, copy, or distribute the Content (except as may be a result of standard search engine activity or use of a standard browser) on the Service by using any robot, rover, ‘bot’, spider, scraper, crawler, spyware, engine, device, software, extraction tool, or any other automatic device, utility, or manual process of any kind”.
That language covers automated collection and also a manual process used to gather or copy content. It applies to Bath & Body Works websites, microsites, mobile websites, apps and other services linked to the terms. The company also reserves the right to block or deny access.
#1 Best Overall
This is a feasibility and permission issue, not a selector or coding problem. A page loading in your browser does not create a broad license to harvest its data, republish descriptions or images, or build a commercial price database.
What the U.S. terms actually restrict
Scraping and crawling are named expressly
Section 2.B lists robots, spiders, scrapers, crawlers, extraction tools and other automatic devices. It also includes a “manual process of any kind,” so switching from a script to repetitive copy-and-paste is not a reliable way around the restriction.
Commercial price collection is called out
The terms prohibit use of the service for a commercial purpose and give collecting product prices as an example. A competitor-monitoring system, resale database, price-alert service or internal commercial catalog therefore needs written approval rather than an assumption that publicly displayed prices are fair to collect.
“Content” is broader than product text
The definition includes text, data, images, scripts, URLs, software, and the selection, compilation, assembly and arrangement of material. Even if you intend to collect only a few fields, the terms’ definition and the rights reserved by the company still matter. Public visibility is not the same as permission to reuse.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDoes the browser exception permit automation?
No. The exception refers to content gathering that results from standard search-engine activity or use of a standard browser. It should not be expanded into permission to automate a browser, run a headless crawler, capture every product URL, or collect at scale. Ordinary browsing for your own personal, non-commercial use is a different activity from building a dataset.
- Ordinary browsing: viewing pages and using normal site functions as a visitor.
- Automated extraction: programmatically requesting pages, parsing fields, following links, or storing results in bulk.
- Commercial collection: gathering prices or other content for a business purpose, even when a human starts the process.
Only the first category is clearly described by the exception, and it remains subject to the site’s other terms and content rights. The published terms do not define a safe volume, field list or automation threshold.
What does Bath & Body Works robots.txt mean?
The U.S. robots.txt file retrieved September 29, 2026 allows two library subpatterns and disallows two broad site path patterns. It also disallows search-query and account, cart and checkout paths, among others, and lists a sitemap.
Robots.txt is a crawler signal, not a grant of permission. A path that is not listed is not thereby approved for scraping, and following the file does not override the Terms of Use. Treat the terms and robots rules as separate checks: a crawler can be disallowed by the terms even when robots.txt has no matching rule.
Safe routes for a legitimate data need
| Route | Authorization | Scale and fields | Reuse position |
|---|---|---|---|
| Written authorization or a confirmed official interface | Ask Bath & Body Works for prior written approval; confirm the exact site and purpose. | Negotiate the permitted URLs, fields, request rate, retention and update schedule. | Use only the rights and attribution terms granted in writing. |
| Ordinary browser use | Use normal site interaction within the applicable terms. | Suitable for looking up information yourself, not an implied bulk-collection method. | Respect copyright, trademark and other restrictions; do not assume republishing rights. |
| Do not collect | No access beyond normal personal browsing. | Appropriate when authorization is unavailable or the proposed use is commercial and unapproved. | No dataset or redistribution risk is created. |
Ask for permission before designing a pipeline
Contact Bath & Body Works through its official business or legal channel and describe your proposed use. Ask these specific questions:
- Would the company authorize your organization to access product pages or another data source?
- Is an approved product feed, API or partner export available for this use? The published materials do not establish that one currently exists.
- Which domains, locales and product fields may be accessed?
- Are prices, promotions, images, descriptions, ratings or inventory included, and may any be stored or republished?
- What request rate, caching period, attribution, retention and deletion rules apply?
- How should consent be recorded, and who may revoke or amend it?
Keep the written response with your project records. Authorization for one region, field or purpose should not be treated as approval for another.
Geography and changing policies
These findings address the U.S. site. The surfaced U.K. terms separately prohibit text and data mining and scraping unless authorized by law or prior written agreement. That is a distinct locale’s policy, not a substitute for reviewing Canadian, European or other regional sites.
Terms and robots files can change. Check the applicable regional terms and robots.txt immediately before a project and record the access date. The U.S. terms cited here state a January 31, 2025 update date; the robots file was retrieved September 29, 2026.

If you only need to inspect a page
Use the site as an ordinary visitor: navigate to the product, read the information needed for your personal task and avoid automated repetition. Do not defeat bot checks, rotate identities, bypass access controls, or build a script that copies protected fields. If your work turns into a dataset, price history, catalog or public publication, stop and obtain written authorization first.

“The page is public, so why can’t I collect it?”
Public access is not a blanket reuse license. The terms expressly restrict gathering and copying and define content broadly.
“Robots.txt allows the URL. Is it safe?”
No. Robots.txt does not override the Terms of Use or grant rights for paths it does not mention.
“I will collect only prices once a day.”
The U.S. terms specifically identify collecting product prices for a commercial purpose as prohibited. Frequency does not supply authorization.

“I will use a headless browser so it looks like a normal visitor.”
Changing the technology does not change the activity. Do not disguise automation or bypass controls; request written permission instead.
“I received permission for one product line. Can I expand it?”
Not without confirming that the written authorization covers the additional domains, fields, volume, purpose and reuse.
“The company has not replied. May I proceed?”
No response is not approval. Use ordinary browsing for a personal need or do not collect until the authorization question is resolved.
Or skip the browser setup
If your legitimate goal is a visual record of a page rather than an extracted product dataset, ScreenshotNeo can return a screenshot or PDF through one request. It is not a substitute for permission to harvest or republish Bath & Body Works content; use it only within the site’s terms and any authorization you hold.
cURL (see the ScreenshotNeo documentation):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/ -o shot.webp
Python:
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://www.bathandbodyworks.com/' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
ScreenshotNeo accepts consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each step can be disabled. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing result. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Use it for an authorized visual capture, not as a way to evade Bath & Body Works restrictions. Frequently Asked Questions
What date should I use when checking the U.S. policy?
The cited U.S. Terms of Use state that they were last updated January 31, 2025. Recheck the live terms before acting because policies can change.
Does an approved screenshot prove I may republish the page?
No. A screenshot records what was rendered; it does not grant copyright, trademark or contractual rights. Obtain permission covering your intended reuse.
Are U.K. rules the same as U.S. rules?
No. The surfaced U.K. terms separately address text/data mining and scraping. Review the rules for the exact regional site you plan to access.
