To present prerecorded videos as a live feed, schedule the event in Live Control Room and separately send the audio and video through an encoder or playout service. For viewers in India and the Gulf, publish the full date, time and timezone—and name the Gulf country or city so viewers know which local time you mean.

A scheduled live event
A scheduled event creates an upcoming YouTube watch page that you can share before the broadcast. Viewers may see it as upcoming and choose Notify me. You still need to start and send the broadcast feed. YouTube’s encoder instructions cover scheduling a stream and connecting an encoder: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.

A playlist is not a live playout queue
A YouTube playlist organizes videos; the official playlist guidance does not establish that its videos will play automatically into a live broadcast. Treat the two jobs separately: prepare the video sequence in an encoder or playout system, then send that output to the scheduled event using the stream URL and stream key. Schedule the event and announce it accurately
- Choose the format. Decide whether you will broadcast in real time or play prerecorded material as a live feed. For prerecorded material, configure the sequence in an encoder or playout service; creating a YouTube playlist alone is not enough.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream. Choose to create a new stream or reuse settings. YouTube’s encoder scheduling guide describes this workflow.
- Set the event details and intended start time. Check the displayed date and time in Studio. The reviewed YouTube live-event guidance does not establish a dedicated IST/Gulf timezone picker, so do not assume the interface will interpret an unlabeled time the way your audience does.
- Choose one reference time and label it. State the full calendar date and time zone in your announcement. For Gulf viewers, specify the target country or city and its local time; “Gulf time” is ambiguous across countries. Check the relevant country’s current offset with a reliable time-zone reference before publishing.
- Check both schedules. Compare the event time shown in Studio with the start schedule set in your encoder or playout system. If you work through the Live Streaming API, its scheduled start is represented as an ISO 8601 datetime; see LiveBroadcasts.
- Share the event page in advance. Send viewers the watch-page link and invite them to select Notify me. YouTube describes upcoming-event notifications in Manage live stream settings.
- Keep the schedule sustainable and communicate changes. For recurring programming, YouTube recommends a schedule viewers can follow and clear communication about it. See Upload schedule tips – Live.
Choose how to send prerecorded videos as the live feed
The scheduling task does not require a specific camera, microphone, computer, capture card or other physical device. YouTube supports mobile, webcam and encoder streaming, but prerecorded playlist playout requires a method that sends the selected audio and video as a live feed. If you operate an encoder yourself, configure it to play the intended sequence and connect it to the scheduled YouTube stream with the stream URL and stream key. Keep control of the key, verify the outgoing feed before the event, and ensure its start time matches the event. A scheduled watch page is not proof that the encoder is sending video.
If you are evaluating a cloud playout service, verify its current documentation for YouTube compatibility, playlist handling, schedule controls, interruption recovery, whether someone must monitor it, and total cost. Those capabilities vary by provider; do not infer them from the fact that a service offers cloud streaming.

Common scheduling problems
- The event is scheduled, but viewers see no video: Scheduling creates the event page, not the outgoing feed. Start or schedule the encoder/playout separately and check that it is connected to the intended stream.
- The prerecorded playlist does not begin playing: A YouTube playlist is for organizing videos, not a documented automatic live-playback queue. Set up the sequence in an encoder or playout service.
- India and Gulf viewers expect different start times: The announcement may have omitted a timezone or treated “Gulf time” as one offset. Publish the complete date and labeled times, identifying the Gulf country or city, then recheck the event and feed schedules.
- The encoder connects to the wrong event: Confirm that it is using the stream URL and key associated with the scheduled broadcast, rather than relying on an old or mismatched configuration.
- Viewers miss the event: Share the upcoming watch page before the start and tell viewers they can use Notify me. Scheduled streams can appear as upcoming in subscriber feeds; details are in YouTube’s live settings guidance.
