You can schedule individual YouTube encoder streams in Live Control Room and set a Live Redirect to send viewers to a Premiere or another live stream when the current stream ends. That creates a handoff—not a recurring schedule or a guaranteed unattended 24/7 stream. For an Indian music channel, plan each event and handoff separately, and verify the workflow in YouTube Studio before relying on it.
What a Live Redirect does—and what it does not do
A YouTube Live Redirect sends viewers from an ending live stream to a selected Premiere or another live stream. It is useful for guiding an audience from one scheduled music event to the next, but it does not automatically start the next event or keep a channel continuously live.

YouTube’s documented workflow covers scheduling individual encoder events and redirecting viewers after a stream ends. It does not establish an account-level recurring schedule, an automatic restart loop, or uninterrupted 24/7 operation. Treat every event start and end as a separate operation that needs a plan and verification.

Check channel and redirect eligibility first
- Live streaming: YouTube says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Its general guidance says streamers must be at least 16. See YouTube’s live streaming eligibility guidance.
- Sending a Live Redirect: The sender must have more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. If the destination is on a different channel, that channel must permit your channel to redirect viewers to it. See How to use YouTube Live Redirect.
- Music rights: Scheduling or redirecting does not grant rights to music in your stream. Use music you own or are authorized to stream, and check the applicable YouTube copyright and live-stream rules before scheduling. A redirect is a viewer handoff, not a way to avoid copyright enforcement.
The cited YouTube workflow does not describe an India-specific version of Live Redirect. The steps below use YouTube’s general Studio instructions; confirm the labels and available options in your channel’s current interface.

Schedule an encoder stream in YouTube Studio
- Open Live Control Room: In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go live.
- Schedule the event: Open Manage → Schedule stream. Create a new stream or choose to reuse settings. Enter the event details, metadata, and audience information, then save. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes this scheduling path.
- Check its upcoming listing: A scheduled stream may appear as an upcoming event, where viewers can select Notify me. Confirm the event is visible as intended; do not assume every viewer will receive a notification.
- Set its redirect destination: Open the scheduled stream’s customization settings, choose Redirect → Add, and select a Premiere or another live stream. If it belongs to another channel, get that creator’s permission first. YouTube recommends setting up the Premiere before the source stream.
- Prepare the encoder: Configure your encoder to send its feed to the scheduled event using the event’s stream details. Keep the stream key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Check the encoder connection and Live Control Room preview before going live.
- Start the event: Once the preview is present and looks right, select Go live in Live Control Room. YouTube recommends setting up an encoder event at least two hours in advance and starting the encoder at least 15 minutes before the event. These are preparation recommendations, not a promise that the event will start automatically.
- End and hand off: When the source stream ends, the configured redirect sends viewers to the selected destination. Tell viewers they may need to wait briefly for the destination to load. Check the transition in Studio rather than assuming it worked.
Plan a sequence for a 24/7 music channel
For a channel intended to run around the clock, map the schedule as a sequence of individual events. For each one, record its planned start and end, encoder operator or automation method, destination, and who will verify the handoff. Prepare the next Premiere or live stream before the source ends, then confirm that the redirect points to the correct destination.
- Build in time to connect the encoder, inspect the preview, and resolve problems before the scheduled start.
- Make sure the destination is ready before the source ends. A redirect is triggered at the end of the originating stream; it is not a recurring event rule.
- Assign someone to monitor the stream and the transition if uninterrupted operation matters. The cited YouTube pages do not promise unattended restarts or continuous operation.
- YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That archive note does not establish a 12-hour scheduling limit or a recommended 24/7 operating plan.

Troubleshoot scheduling and handoffs
- The redirect option is unavailable: Check that the sender meets YouTube’s Live Redirect requirements—more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. For a different channel’s destination, confirm permission.
- The stream is not showing a preview: Check the encoder’s connection and the stream details for the scheduled event. Allow time for the feed to appear, and do not select Go live until you can inspect the preview.
- Viewers do not land on the destination: Verify the selected redirect destination, confirm it is set up and available, and check the source stream’s ending in Live Control Room. Let viewers know the transition may take a few seconds.
- You expected the next event to start automatically: A Live Redirect sends viewers after the source ends; YouTube’s documented scheduling workflow does not say that it starts the next encoder event. Arrange and verify each event’s start separately.
- The channel cannot go live: Check verification status and whether the channel has had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Also confirm the streamer meets YouTube’s stated minimum age requirement.
