YouTube does not schedule a playlist to play continuously on your channel. To release UPSC lectures at set times, schedule each video in YouTube Studio and add it to a course playlist. To let a student repeat the sequence, use the playlist’s Loop control during playback. To keep a live watch page on air around the clock, use an encoder-based livestream fed with your recorded lectures.

YouTube Help documents these as separate workflows: scheduled publishing for individual videos, playlist looping for playback, and scheduled livestreams using an encoder and stream key. Schedule each UPSC lecture for publication
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and choose Create → Upload videos.
- Upload a lecture. Fill in its title, description, thumbnail, and other video details.
- In the upload flow, add it to the relevant existing playlist or create a course playlist. Keep the playlist order consistent with the syllabus or lesson sequence.
- On the Visibility step, use the Schedule card to choose the publication date, time, and time zone, then schedule the video. It remains private until its scheduled publication time.
- Repeat for each lecture. After a video goes public, check its visibility and playlist placement.
Scheduling applies to each video, not to the playlist as a unit. YouTube says a Community Guidelines strike can stop scheduled publishing during the penalty period; the affected video stays private and must be rescheduled after the restriction ends. See YouTube’s scheduling guidance.

Check the displayed date for an India-based schedule
You can select the intended date, time, and time zone in Studio. The public watch-page date is based on Pacific Standard Time, so it may differ from the date shown in Studio when you schedule from India, which is ahead of PST. Pay particular attention to schedules near midnight in India: check the public watch page rather than assuming its displayed date will match your local calendar date. Let a viewer loop the playlist
For a student who wants to repeat a study session, start a video from the playlist and switch on Loop in the playlist controls. YouTube describes this as repeating the playlist continuously. The control affects that viewer’s playback; it does not make the playlist play unattended for all viewers or create an always-on channel broadcast. See Loop videos or playlists on YouTube.
Use an encoder for an always-on live watch page
If students need to find a live watch page that is on air, schedule a livestream in YouTube Studio and send a feed of the recorded lectures through an encoder. A scheduled livestream is a separate broadcast workflow; scheduling it does not itself supply the lecture feed. YouTube’s documentation covers stream keys, scheduled streams, and encoder setup, but does not prescribe a particular physical encoder or third-party service for this use case. Protect the lecture archive
Keep independent copies of the original lecture files. YouTube says it can automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable beyond 12 hours. These are platform limits, not guarantees that every shorter stream will archive successfully. - Use a repeatable lecture release schedule that the channel can sustain. YouTube recommends planning for consistency and creator well-being in its video upload schedule tips.
- Make playlist titles and descriptions accurately reflect the lectures inside. YouTube’s Playlists policy prohibits misleading titles or descriptions and applies to harmful combinations of videos.
- Follow YouTube’s copyright and other platform rules for each lecture. A livestream feed does not change the rights or permissions needed for the recorded material.

Troubleshoot common scheduling problems
The lecture did not become public at the scheduled time
Check that the video is still scheduled, confirm its selected time zone and publication time in Studio, and check whether a Community Guidelines strike has paused scheduled publishing. If the strike-related restriction has ended, reschedule the video; a video held private during the penalty period does not automatically publish afterward.
The watch page shows a different date
Compare the scheduled time and selected time zone in Studio with the public watch-page date. YouTube bases the public date on PST, which can produce a different displayed date for an India-based schedule, especially around midnight.

The playlist repeats for one student but the channel is not live
That is expected: Loop repeats playback for the viewer who enabled it. For a live watch page, set up a scheduled encoder-based livestream and provide an active feed.
A long livestream is missing from the archive or lacks rewind
Do not treat a stream longer than 12 hours as a dependable archive: YouTube says it may not be captured, and DVR may be limited or unavailable. Keep the lecture files separately and plan around the platform’s stated limit.
