To repeat a jingle during the broadcast, add it in OBS as a looping Media Source—or use a VLC Video source for a looping playlist. Those controls repeat media; they do not schedule jingles to play at exact intervals over a separate, continuous music bed.
What “schedule jingles” can mean
There are two separate tasks: scheduling the livestream event so viewers can see it in advance, and controlling when jingles play in the stream. YouTube Studio handles the event schedule. OBS handles the audio and video that the encoder sends to YouTube. The OBS loop controls described here repeat a file or playlist, but do not establish timed cueing over other audio.

Schedule the YouTube livestream
- Open the event scheduler. In YouTube Studio, select Go live, open Manage, then choose Schedule stream. Create a new event or reuse settings. A scheduled event can appear to viewers in advance, and viewers can opt into reminders. See YouTube’s encoder livestream setup guide.
- Copy the event’s connection details. In Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s stream settings. The key identifies the destination and allows YouTube to accept the feed. Treat it as a credential: YouTube says, “Stream keys are like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room using the stream settings described in YouTube’s live stream settings guide.
- Connect and preview before starting. Start the encoder’s output and wait for the incoming preview in Live Control Room. When the preview is ready, select Go live there to begin the event. Scheduling the event alone does not send a broadcast; the encoder must connect and the event must be started.
Add a jingle in OBS
Repeat one audio file
- In the OBS scene used for the broadcast, add a Media Source.
- Select the local audio file. OBS lists MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV among the supported audio types.
- Enable Loop if you want that file to start again when playback finishes. The OBS control is documented as “Loop — Specifies whether the file play again once playback has completed.”
This repeats the selected file, one playthrough at a time. It does not insert the jingle over another source at a chosen time.

Repeat a playlist
- Install VLC if it is not already installed; OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to be available.
- Add a VLC Video source and select the audio or video files for the playlist.
- Enable Loop Playlist to restart the source when it reaches the end. Leave shuffle disabled if the jingles need to play in a fixed order.
The OBS documentation describes Loop Playlist as restarting the source after it has run out of media files. Its Media Sources guide also documents source-visibility behavior; check those settings if playback should continue when you switch scenes.

Looping is not timed jingle insertion

Before choosing a source, decide whether you need one clip or a playlist, a fixed order or shuffle, and whether playback should continue when its scene is hidden. The OBS guide explains source visibility options, but the loop settings themselves are not evidence of exact-interval automation.
Test the broadcast and check audio
- Test in advance with audio and video similar to what you plan to use during the event.
- Check the incoming preview in Live Control Room before starting the public broadcast.
- While live, monitor stream health and audio/video quality. YouTube’s livestream tips recommend advance setup, testing, previewing, and monitoring.
A successful local playback test does not by itself confirm that YouTube is receiving the intended audio. Check the incoming preview and stream health as well.

Use audio you have permission to stream
A locally stored file is not automatically cleared for broadcast because it is called a jingle or described as royalty-free. Use audio you have permission to stream, and confirm that the permission covers livestreaming and any archived replay. The setup instructions cited above explain playback and connection settings, not whether a particular recording is licensed for your use.
