To run demos continuously, schedule the event in Studio and use an encoder or playout service that can keep the videos playing as the live feed. For a one-off timed demo, YouTube’s scheduled-event workflow may be all you need; for an ongoing rotation, choose a system built for continuous playback.

Prepare the videos and YouTube channel
Check live-stream access early
If this is the channel’s first live stream, YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours. Don’t leave enabling live streaming until the day of the demo. YouTube also recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Build a deliberate playback sequence
Arrange demos so viewers who arrive midstream can understand what they are seeing. Add clear opening and closing cards to individual clips if useful, and check that product names, claims, pricing, and calls to action are current. For a loop, review the transition from the last video back to the first; a jarring cut or an outdated offer can undermine an otherwise polished broadcast.

Use only video, music, logos, and other material you have rights to use in a live stream. A product demonstration can still trigger copyright claims if it includes unlicensed background music, third-party footage, or assets supplied with a product that are not cleared for broadcast. YouTube’s live-stream settings also include privacy and stream-key controls; review the settings for the event before sharing its watch page. Do not treat an unlisted link as a substitute for permission to use copyrighted material.
Plan how you will keep a copy
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. For a continuous or multi-day broadcast, keep an independent local recording if the replay matters. Confirm that the recording is actually being written while you monitor the live feed. Schedule the YouTube live event
- Open YouTube Studio. Select Create → Go Live, then open Manage.
- Create the scheduled event. Choose Schedule stream. Reuse settings from a previous event or create a new stream.
- Set the event details. Enter the title, start time, visibility, and other metadata. Check the time zone and intended audience before saving.
- Share the watch page. A scheduled event gives viewers a page to visit and lets them set reminders. YouTube Help notes that “Scheduling a stream lets you promote your stream.” Share the scheduled page through your usual channels rather than waiting until the encoder is running.
- Review stream controls. Check the event’s stream key, privacy, and auto-start or auto-stop settings. YouTube documents those controls, but don’t assume unattended start or stop is enabled: verify the values on the specific event. See Manage live stream settings.
Connect an encoder or playout system
- Choose a compatible playback system. For a single demo, an encoder can send the presentation or prerecorded video. For a continuous rotation, confirm that the selected software or hosted service explicitly supports scheduled, uninterrupted prerecorded playback; scheduling a YouTube event alone does not create that playlist.
- Connect to YouTube. Use the encoder’s YouTube integration if available, or enter the event’s stream URL and stream key in the encoder. The key authorizes transmission to your channel; treat it like a password and don’t share it publicly.
- Load the video or playlist. Check playback order, loop behavior, and audio levels in the encoder or playout service. If the system needs a local computer, that computer and its connection must remain available for the broadcast; hosted playout can run from a cloud service instead.
- Start early and check the preview. Start the encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time, following YouTube’s recommendation. In Live Control Room, verify the preview shows the intended video and that sound is present and intelligible.
- Go live and monitor. Click Go live when the preview is ready, unless the event’s verified auto-start configuration handles that step. During the stream, watch for picture, audio, and connection problems. If recording a local backup, confirm the recording file is growing.
A capture card is not required just to stream prerecorded files or screen content. It may be useful when the source is a camera or an HDMI device feeding a computer encoder; YouTube notes that encoder productions may use external video hardware. Select hardware only if your actual video source needs it.
When to use each approach
- Use a scheduled YouTube event plus a local encoder when you need a timed broadcast and can keep the computer, encoder, and internet connection running for its duration.
- Use a cloud playout service when you need prerecorded demos to repeat without leaving a home or office computer on. Check that the service supports the sequence, schedule, and recovery behavior you require; vendor features and terms vary.
- Use a camera or HDMI capture setup only when the demo depends on live physical footage or an external HDMI source. It is not a prerequisite for prerecorded video.

Troubleshoot common scheduling problems

Does scheduling a YouTube stream automatically play my videos?
No. Scheduling creates the event and watch page. An encoder or playout system must supply the live video feed and, for a rotation, handle playback.
Can I schedule a repeating playlist in YouTube Studio alone?
YouTube’s official scheduling guidance describes scheduling a live event, not setting up a multi-video playlist as a continuous feed. Use a playback system that documents continuous prerecorded streaming.

Can I run the stream unattended?
That depends on your encoder or playout service and the event’s settings. Verify auto-start behavior and the playback system’s continuous-playback and recovery capabilities before relying on unattended operation.
