Before scheduling, clear the rights for every recording and intended territory: YouTube can interrupt a live stream when its systems detect third-party content, even when you believe you have permission.
How the 24/7 playlist and scheduled event fit together
A scheduled YouTube live stream is the public event viewers can visit and set reminders for. It does not itself arrange or play a sequence of songs. The playlist must be assembled and played by the software, hardware, or cloud service that sends the live audio/video feed to YouTube.

Do not assume a song is cleared because it appears on YouTube, or because your channel is monetized. YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to have all necessary rights for worldwide exploitation on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses), and other royalty participants.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. When it detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the matched content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. YouTube advises creators who have licensed third-party material to ask the owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist. A license alone may not prevent interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
For Indian-language songs, rights can depend on the particular recording, composition, rights holders, and territories where the stream will be available. The general YouTube guidance does not establish a universal list of Indian licenses that covers every repertoire. Confirm permissions for the exact catalogue and intended territories with the relevant rights holders before going live.

Choose where the playlist will run
The scheduling steps in YouTube Studio are broadly the same whichever production method you choose. The key difference is where the feed runs and who is responsible for keeping it operating.

YouTube’s encoder guidance identifies software and hardware approaches and gives Gyre as a cloud-service example, but does not compare provider reliability, prices, or playlist-management features. Check a provider’s current documentation for those specifics rather than assuming the YouTube listing verifies them.

Set up and schedule the YouTube live stream
- Enable live streaming. Confirm that the channel is eligible and enable livestreaming if it has not been enabled before. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours.
- Build and test the song rotation. In the chosen encoder or cloud workflow, add the recordings in the intended order. Check the audio source, visuals, transitions, and that the playlist behaves as intended before relying on it for continuous playback.
- Schedule the event. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream. Reuse previous settings or create a new stream, then set the event metadata, privacy, and other stream settings. The scheduled event can appear as upcoming, with a watch page viewers can visit and a reminder option.
- Connect the encoder. In the Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and key into the encoder’s corresponding connection fields. The stream key is a credential that allows an encoder to send a feed, so treat it like a password and do not share it publicly.
- Preview before starting. Start sending the feed and check the Live Control Room preview before you make the event live. Confirm the watch page is accessible and the audio and video are playing correctly.
- Monitor and test recovery. Watch the feed while operating and test backup encoding or failover if you plan to rely on it. YouTube’s general event guidance recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before an event and starting it at least 15 minutes in advance; these are preparation recommendations, not a guarantee of uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume that an indefinitely running stream will produce one complete archive; if you need a local archive, keep the recording process under observation and verify its output.

Troubleshooting a scheduled radio stream
- The event is scheduled, but no songs play: Scheduling creates the event, not the playlist feed. Start the encoder or cloud workflow and verify that it is sending the feed to the stream URL and key shown in the Live Control Room.
- The encoder cannot connect: Check that the stream URL and key were copied into the correct fields and that the key belongs to the intended event. If a key may have been exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- YouTube shows a placeholder or interrupts the stream: A third-party content match may have been detected. Review the matched content and contact the relevant rights holder; if you have a license, ask whether the channel can be added to the Content ID allowlist. Do not assume a license by itself prevents interruption.
- The scheduled watch page is unavailable or viewers cannot watch: Confirm the event’s privacy and metadata settings in YouTube Studio, check the Live Control Room status, and verify that the feed is being sent and previewed before starting.
- The stream stops after a power or network issue: A local setup depends on the computer, power, and connection remaining available. Test backup encoding or failover ahead of time; YouTube’s general guidance does not promise 24/7 uptime.
- You expect one archive of an unlimited broadcast: YouTube’s automatic archive guidance applies to streams under 12 hours. Plan and monitor archiving separately for longer operation.
