To promote a festival sale during an already-running 24/7 YouTube Live stream, schedule the event in YouTube Studio and put the promo into the encoder or playout system’s outgoing feed. YouTube’s scheduled-stream trailer appears before an event begins; it does not insert a clip into a continuous program. For a promo during the stream, prepare and test the handoff in the system sending video to YouTube.
Choose where the festival promo should appear

For a sale message meant to interrupt or punctuate the ongoing program, use the during-stream route. A trailer is useful for previewing a scheduled event, while a mid-roll ad and Live Redirect serve different purposes.

Schedule the YouTube Live event in Studio
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create and then Go Live. Open Manage and choose Schedule Stream. You can reuse prior settings or create a new stream. See YouTube’s encoder streaming instructions.
- Enter the event details. Set the title, description, visibility, thumbnail, date, and time. Scheduling creates an upcoming watch page you can share; viewers may choose to receive reminders.
- Decide whether to add a trailer. If you want a preview before the event starts, upload the promo as a normal channel video and set it as the scheduled stream’s trailer, if your channel meets YouTube’s eligibility requirements and the video meets its length and rights rules. Do not expect this trailer to appear midway through a continuous stream.
- Share the scheduled watch page. Use it in your sale announcements so viewers can find the event before it begins.
Put an in-program promo into the outgoing feed
- Prepare the creative. Make the festival-sale clip a source your encoder or playout system can send to the live program. The exact playlist, scene, or automation controls depend on the system you use; YouTube’s setup documentation does not prescribe a particular midstream playlist method.
- Connect the encoder to the scheduled event. In the encoder, enter the server URL and stream key shown for that event in Live Control Room. YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion; consult its encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions guidance. Treat the stream key like a password and do not share it publicly.
- Test the complete transition. Confirm the normal program reaches the event, switch to the promo, check its audio and picture, then return to the normal feed. Verify the aspect ratio, audio levels, and that the scheduled watch page is receiving the intended output.
- Check the preview and stream health. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before the stream, starting it at least 15 minutes before the event, checking the Live Control Room preview, and monitoring stream health and audio/video quality. These are platform recommendations, not guarantees of uninterrupted service. See YouTube’s live streaming tips.
- Monitor while live. Keep an operator or monitoring process available to confirm the promo starts and ends as intended and that the regular feed resumes.
Plan the promo for Indian viewers without assuming a different YouTube workflow
The cited YouTube Help pages describe the general Studio and encoder workflow; they do not establish a separate India-only scheduling procedure. Apply the same steps, and test the actual connection from the location where the stream will run. The sources do not establish India-specific bandwidth, tax, advertising, or revenue figures for this use case.

Before airing the creative, check that you have rights to its video, music, images, and other included material. Scheduling a stream or adding a trailer does not itself grant those rights. YouTube’s trailer requirements also specify that the video must comply with its rules.

Keep a separate archive plan for long-running broadcasts
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For a 24/7 channel, do not assume one uninterrupted broadcast will produce a complete archive. Plan how you will preserve any recording you need, and check YouTube’s current encoder and live-stream guidance before relying on a long broadcast for a full replay.
Troubleshoot common promo handoff problems
