To schedule quiet hours in Windows 11, open Settings > System > Notifications, expand Turn on do not disturb automatically, and enable During these times. Choose the start and end times and the days it repeats. You can allow selected calls, reminders, or apps through Set priority notifications.

Set a repeating Do Not Disturb schedule

  1. Open Start > Settings > System > Notifications.

  2. Expand Turn on do not disturb automatically.

  3. Switch on During these times, then choose the start time, end time, and repeat frequency. These controls let you set recurring quiet hours for a workday or overnight schedule. Microsoft documents the time and recurrence options in its notifications and Do Not Disturb accessibility guidance.

  4. Open Set priority notifications and select any calls, reminders, or apps that should still be able to alert you during those hours. Microsoft says most other notifications go to Notification Center while Do Not Disturb is on, rather than disappearing.

Check other automatic triggers

The schedule is not the only condition that can turn on Do Not Disturb. In the same automatic-rules section, review whether it should also activate while you are duplicating your display, playing a game, using an app full-screen, or during the first hour after a Windows feature update. Turn off any trigger that would conflict with when you want notifications to be quiet. Microsoft lists these conditions in its Windows notification settings guidance.

Choose a schedule or a Focus session

Option How it works Best suited to
Do Not Disturb schedule Runs at fixed start and end times on the repeat frequency you choose. Regular work hours or an overnight sleep period.
Focus session You start a session and choose its duration. Do Not Disturb turns on automatically by default when a Focus session begins. A one-off work block or timed task.

Start Focus from Settings > System > Focus, Clock > Focus sessions, or the taskbar clock/notification area. Microsoft explains the Focus session controls and entry points in its Focus sessions guidance.

Set up quiet time for work, sleep, or meetings

Work

For a consistent daily work block, use the repeating schedule. For a single task, start a Focus session and choose its duration. If particular work apps or urgent calls need to break through, include them in priority notifications.

Sleep

Set a recurring overnight interval and check that its start and end times—and the days it repeats—match your routine. Keep only the alerts you want during sleep in the priority list.

Meetings

The Microsoft guidance cited here documents fixed-time schedules and manually started Focus sessions, but does not document Do Not Disturb starting automatically from calendar events. For an individual meeting, turn Do Not Disturb on manually or start a timed Focus session; adjust priority notifications if important calls or apps should still alert.
