The documented workflow does not provide a recurring playlist-level rule that automatically selects one playlist for weekdays and another for Sundays, so plan and schedule the videos individually.
Set up the playlists and schedule each video
- Create or identify the playlists. In YouTube Studio, make a weekday playlist and a Sunday playlist, or use your existing playlists. Choose each playlist’s title, visibility, and arrangement. See YouTube’s playlist management instructions.
- Upload a video and assign its playlist. In the upload flow, select the playlist intended for that video. You can also create a playlist during upload. YouTube’s computer upload instructions cover playlist selection.
- Schedule publication in IST. In the video’s Schedule card, choose the date and time, then explicitly select the intended time zone. For an India-based publishing calendar, use the India-local time zone shown in the control rather than assuming the browser or a collaborator’s clock determines it. YouTube describes a scheduled video as a private video set to become public at a specified time. Follow YouTube’s schedule video publish time steps.
- Repeat for every video. For each weekday or Sunday release, assign the right playlist and set that video’s date and time. Keep a calendar or spreadsheet with the date, video, intended playlist, and time zone.
- Check the scheduled video. Before relying on a release, verify its scheduled status, date, time zone, and playlist assignment in Studio. A Community Guidelines strike can prevent scheduled publishing during the penalty period; the video may remain private and need to be rescheduled.
Understand the IST date shown to viewers
YouTube says the “Published on” date shown on a watch page is based on Pacific Standard Time (PST). Because India’s time zone is ahead of PST, the calendar date shown to viewers can differ from the date you see in Studio for the same scheduled instant. Set the intended India-local time in the schedule controls, then check the resulting watch-page date if that date matters to your audience.

Can YouTube automatically alternate weekday and Sunday playlists?
YouTube’s documented workflow covers playlist assignment for individual videos and scheduling each video for a chosen date, time, and time zone. It does not document a recurring playlist-level rule that automatically publishes a different playlist on weekdays and Sundays. The reliable native approach is therefore to assign and schedule each planned video separately.
YouTube recommends a consistent, sustainable release schedule and using its tools to automate uploads. That supports preparing a calendar in advance; it does not establish that one weekday or Sunday publishing time is universally best. See YouTube’s upload schedule tips.

Would a third-party scheduler help?
Metricool’s help materials describe scheduling YouTube videos, choosing a playlist, and selecting a publication date and time. They also describe recurring posts with weekday, duration, time, and time-zone controls. The available documentation does not establish that recurrence can automatically choose distinct video files and distinct playlists for different days.
